I went to esthetician school and was capable of doing my own makeup for my wedding day but I didn't want to stress myself out. However, finding someone who matched my standards was actually pretty difficult. I was willing to try freelancers straight out of beauty school, but the few I got in contact with had no understanding of why certain types of makeup should not be used with flash photography and finally I was at my breaking point. I found April through a coworker of my mother, and although her prices were about twice as high as industry average in the area, I decided that proper makeup was important enough for me to do a trial and made the trip. April is excellent. The girl knows her stuff. I watched her put maybe five different neutral-ish colors on her brush at once in order to create the exact shades she wanted and wow, it came out perfect. I described what I was looking for and she nailed. She was super nice and professional, and also very careful about cleaning and cross-contamination which is a huge thing for me. It was so great to see her so conscientious. We didn't quite get the right lip color on the trial day after 3-4 tries but she was super patient and we nailed it the day of. On the actual day, she came in right on time and got right to work. None of my bridesmaids are comfortable with makeup and after asking them what their normal routine is, she made everything so beautifully subtle that they all loved it. My photos came out great because everyone looks like the most beautiful version of themselves. We all chose regular foundation instead of airbrushing because it was too expensive, but none of us had any issue with smearing. Everything stayed on all night, through sweat, tears, etc. If you are willing to put forth the extra money for quality, I would absolutely recommend April. It's very obvious that makeup is her passion and she is truly an artist.

Rakella did an amazing job – the airbrush makeup in the photos look flawless. I had her do my trial makeup for my engagement shoot so I could see how it looked in photos – highly recommend doing the trial for the engagement shoot btw. Anyway, I booked her for the wedding too and I think she did an amazing job on my 4 bridesmaids and me.

Thanks CityGal! Hair and makeup could not have been better for my wedding. Let me add that my first Hair/Makeup company cancelled just two weeks before my wedding. CityGal was able to bring the professionalism and eye for style I needed. Morgan and April helped me to complete my look. Morgan managed to take my not-so-long hair and give me a french twist hair style that looked just lovely. Morgan and April also did hair and makeup for my mother who is 80 and this was one of her best looks ever!

I could not imagine my wedding day without April by my side. She played such a huge role in making me feel beautiful and her love and support pulled me through. I was so nervous but April attentively listened to my needs and my makeup looks perfect in all of my photos! I HIGHLY recommend her to any bride that wants flawless makeup on her wedding day!

I've known Rachael for almost two years and her work is extremely professional and i love her service. Rachael is sweet with a lot of talent. My first experience was for a custom party my friends and I loved her makeup it was phenomenal..I highly recommend her for any event.

Professional with all emailing and scheduling. The most important part was how she made myself and all my girlfriends and family look! I opted for the airbrushing which looked terrific even with my freckles. My wedding was the end of July and had a torrential downpour at the end of the day and my make up never budged!!!!

April did an amazing job of doing my make up, but still making sure I looked like me and didn't look like I had a ton of makeup on (even though I did!). She has great natural instinct for what works with face shapes and features, but is also 100% interested in achieving the exact look you want. She will spend as much time as you desire on the trial. and she is SO patient! She also did a phenomenal job on my bridesmaids all with very different coloring and features--no trial needed! Everyone's face just looked gorgeous and everyone's make up stayed all day and night. I had my makeup airbrushed and she matched my skintone perfectly and the airbrush was WELL worth the extra charge--it lasted into the night and the next morning. I couldn't not have been happier with April's work and highly recommend her services. She does a fantastic job and is a pleasure to work with!

I had my hair and makeup done by Rakella .,and I can only say without bragging that I looked flawless !!!' I received compliment after compliment at the reception .i wish I could take Rakella home so I can look fabulous everyday !!! Looking forward to my next wedding in December and to use her services once again !!! 5 stars aren't enough to rate this beautiful and talented girl !!

They arrived on time and I was made very comfortable the day of the wedding. I was given good tips of what to use and which shades worked the best for my skin tones. My colors were brilliant and I truly felt beautiful! The make up stayed on all night and looked fresh all evening as when it was first applied. They did a wonderful job and I would definitely use this company again!

Rakella is an absolute artist when it comes to hair and makeup. She listens to what it is you want and then delivers. Rakella did both my hair and makeup (in what seemed like record time - but I never once felt rushed) & I felt stunning after seeing the results. So stunning that I will be hiring Rakella again "just because" I want to feel fabulous :) She will definitely be my go to for my special events or a night out. Trust me - you will not be sorry if you hire her! On a side note, she was always responsive to my text/calls and on day of appointment, she arrived early (99% of people get lost coming to our apartment) and came fully prepared. Very professional. HIGHLY recommend.

I was a bridesmaid for a friend and usually hate to get my hair and/or makeup done. I am extremely picky so I was hesitant. My friend booked me with Racheal and I was so happy she did! I was blown away because she first worked with me because I didn't want a "heavy" makeup look. She explained what she would do to both my hair/makeup and it was exactly how she promised. I truly loved both my hair and makeup and received so many compliments throughout the night! I am definitely using her again and referring her as well!! Rachael did my hair and make up for a wedding that I recently was a guest to and all I have to say is WOW!...and so did everyone else that saw me:) I don't even remember the last time I received that many complements!! The pictures came out amazing too... I looked and felt beautiful. She was very detailed and made sure to give me everything I asked for... I wanted big glam waves/curls and you bet I got them! I brought a picture of the color/style of makeup I wanted and I came out looking like a doll :) She knew how to time everything properly to make sure I was 100% satisfied... Rachael is a perfectionist for sure! Extremely friendly person and very efficient with her work... definitely gets an A++!

Wanted to take a minute to review my services with Rachael....I needed my hair and makeup done for my friends wedding. Being in the party I was a little nervous as I usually do my own hair/makeup, but figured I needed some expert styling this time. Rachael did barrel curls which ended up in sexy shiny beach waves which lasted all night without frizz even with the humidity. The makeup was smokey eyes with nude lips and great contouring on cheeks etc. Let's just say I walked in the party single and ended up having too many men to choose from :p.

I was a guest for a bridal party and absolutely loved my make up. Felt very comfortable and got exactly what I wanted, which is hard to do these days! I used her for a couple other events after and she was able to get every look I wanted! I would easily recommend her to anyone for any event- wedding or just a night out on the town!

I recently worked with Rachel Pavarate from CityGal Beauty NYC for my make up trial and I loved every minute of it. She was professional from start to finish. We first started with a pre-consultation over the phone, which included her asking me to collect pictures of make up looks and hairdos that I would like before we even started. So, on my appointment day, she had everything ready for all the looks I wanted to try. On appointment day, we narrowed it down to 2 looks. She was very helpful in helping me decide what would be the best and more comfortable look for me. She based this decision by asking lots of questions about my regular skin care and make up routine. Furthermore, she gave me tips on how to maintain the look throughout my evening and even how to replicate the look another day on my own. Although she was very thorough, the actual appointment didn't take all that long from start to finish . Which is fantastic because sometimes I fall asleep when I get my hair & make up done. Sinful, I know. I was beyond excited with the outcome. She was a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend her. I look forward to working with her Again & Again! Thank You!
