We booked the Shively Club for both our ceremony and reception and both agree we wouldn't change anything about our wedding day, it was perfect! The food was crazy delicious, we had lots of guests comment to us how much they enjoyed it. Ashley listened carefully to us and had everything set up just as we liked. She also worked very hard the day of to make sure everything went smoothly, so we could just sit back and enjoy the moment.
We had our wedding reception at the Shively Club on 8/4/18. The day went so smoothly and that is largely attributed to the hard working staff. The service exceeded our expectations.
Ashley was amazing to work with and was there for the whole process from start to finish. She was always quick to answer questions and meet with us. She even allowed us to look at other weddings at the venue to get ideas for our big day.
We used the Chef's Table for food. Many of our guests mentioned really enjoying the meal! We were able to sample a variety of options when planning, and staff made all of our specific requests happen.
The venue is beautiful with minimum decor, but you are also given plenty of opportunity to decorate and make it your own! It was a great venue!
We had our daughter's wedding reception at the Shively Club at Ross-Ade Stadium on 6/11/16. It was beautiful and the perfect location. Steve and Liz were wonderful to work with. I had many questions and they were very prompt at responding. They went above and beyond to help me and my vendors that I used. I can't compliment them enough. A wonderful experience that our friends and family will never forget.
Worst possible idea ever to go with them for our wedding. It was difficult setting up a tasting, sometimes it took forever to get responses back in emails. We paid our final bill a week before. They sent the contract over AFTER we paid. It said we had to get all of our decorations approved and to call a number. So don't waste your time or money on anything until its approved. Asked about candles and was told they need to just be in something. In the contract, after I bought 100 candles in glass, it says they need 2" over the flame so they were not allowed. Asked about handicapped parking and they skipped over it in the email. Parking is very far away from the entrance. Staff was terrible. The food sounded really good on the menu but when you got it, it was gross. The steak was very bloody. A lot of people didn't eat because of it. I asked a woman who was not a server if I could have it cooked more and she was very nice. She handed our server my steak to bring to me and he started huffing like it was a huge inconvenience for him. Some tables didn't even have champagne for the toast. We bought enough for 100 people according to the bar. Only about half showed up so how was it that some people didn't get champagne? We forgot our anniversary tier and nobody even considered to remind us. They had soda pop sitting next to the bar. We thought that our guests were purchasing them. Instead, we were billed $300 for 93 cans of pop a couple days later. A 24 pack is $5.00 in the store so how was it marked up to $300? That's just insane to me. The staff were telling people to take as many as they'd like and they were complementary. If we had known, we wouldn't have had them out. Basically, don't waste your money. And it'll be A LOT OF MONEY. Cool venue. Everything else was awful. If you're ok with being babysat the entire time, not being able to be in control of your own wedding, and extra charges you weren't aware of, feel free. Trust me when I say it just isn't worth it.
Had our daughters wedding reception here. Kris and the rest of the staff gave great service, asking if food was satisfactory (it was exceptional), filling drinks, cleaning up spills quickly. The next day I found out about some spills, etc. that I didn't even know happened as small situations were taken care of quickly without disruptions to the reception. Venue was beautiful at night with the surrounding windows. The only drawback was dealing with the union for the alcohol service. Please Purdue. Give Levy their own license.
We used the Stadium Pavilion- the Buchanan Suite- for our ceremony site. The staff were easy and wonderful to work with. This location provided our guests with a unique experience and a different view of campus and the stadium.
We were thrilled with the service we received from Elizabeth at the Shively Club. She is very detail-oriented and made sure everything was exactly the way we wanted it. Elizabeth and the rest of the Levy team worked with all our vendors to make sure our day went off without a hitch. We got several compliments on the venue and the food. My one complaint is that we didn't get to do a tasting before we selected our entree, but the food ended up being delicious - much better than what you would expect for wedding food.
