About this vendor
Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve is a 134-acre nature preserve, botanical garden, and accredited museum. Today, the preserve contains over 700 of the 2,000 plant species native to Pennsylvania and the Delaware Valley, growing in a naturalistic setting of woodlands, meadows, ponds and Pidcock Creek, with about 4.5 miles of walking trails. It is an excellent site for bird-watching.
The preserve was established in 1934 within the Washington Crossing Historic Park at the site where George Washington‘s army camped during the American Revolutionary War. Just five miles south of the preserve, Washington and his men crossed the Delaware River to fight and win the Battle of Trenton in 1776.

I cannot recommend Open Aire Affairs and Bowman’s Wildflower Preserve highly enough for a wedding venue! From start to finish, the entire process was seamless and stress-free. I fe...
lt confident in every decision I made, thanks to the incredible support and guidance from the Open Aire Affairs team. On the big day, it was such a relief to simply show up and enjoy the celebration.
Bowman’s Wildflower Preserve is an absolutely stunning venue, perfect for any occasion, but it truly made our wedding feel exceptionally special. The natural beauty of the surroundings was enhanced by the gorgeous decorations and breathtaking flower arrangements that the team pulled together. Every detail was thoughtfully executed, creating an enchanting atmosphere that our guests are still raving about.
Additionally, the tent from Newton Party Rentals was set up perfectly and was incredibly easy to arrange through Open Aire Affairs. The whole experience felt effortless, allowing us to focus on what really mattered: celebrating our love with friends and family.
If you’re looking for a beautiful venue with a dedicated team that makes the planning process enjoyable, look no further than Open Aire Affairs and Bowman’s Wildflower Preserve. It was truly a magical day!
A beautiful natural venue in a private forested area! We loved this venue and the staff were so helpful in planning everything.
Bowman’s is beautiful and has multiple locations to offer for a ceremony or reception. We chose the New Pond area and it served as a beautiful backdrop for our ceremony and gave us...
some truly breathtaking pictures. Though the cost of renting the location is very inexpensive, you should note that only the space is included in that rental – everything else must be rented separately. I did not particularly enjoy working with Open Aire Affairs, who overtook managing my event 26 days out from the wedding date.
The perfect location for an outdoor wedding. The grounds are well kept, but natural looking, so every direction is a beautiful view. The site has recommendations for tent and chair...
rentals to make things easy. The best part is, you can choose the caterer, so your day is curated to your liking.
This venue was absolutely stunning to have our wedding ceremony. We got married at the Pond Area which can be a little complicated to get to, but Event Coordinator Becca did a grea...
t job helping us prepare and guide our guests about how to get up there and was super accommodating about parking, too. She even took some of our guests up to the location via golf cart and had signs to guide them up to the Pond Area. She even helped the night before to guide everyone up for our rehearsal which was so helpful. The wildflowers and fall foliage made this such a picturesque wedding venue; it also beyond stunning in the spring, too. You do have to order your own chairs (which the logistics of were a little complicated; we ended up hiring two people to set up and break down for us as the space was rented for 3 hours) and pay an event liability insurance, but they do have electrical service for a DJ available up there too. It was all very much so worth it! I highly recommend!
We are so happy we chose Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve as our wedding venue for our wedding this past June. We were looking for an outdoor venue that was a combination of casua...
l, fun, whimsical, and beautiful, as well as a tribute to where my husband and I met – New Hope, PA. This checked all our boxes.
Disclaimer - the bathroom issue that previous couples have spoken about has been fixed. I believe they were renovated in early 2022 and they were great for our day :) Becca, the event coordinator, was so helpful from start to finish. She addressed all our questions and concerns throughout the planning process, was incredibly informative, and so attentive to our guests on the day of the wedding. The use of the golf cart was hugely helpful for some of our older or less mobile guests and was a lifesaver!
We had our cocktail hour in the big front meadow next to the wildflower fields at the bottom, then our reception under the pavilion. Even with our count of 155 guests we were able to fit everyone comfortably under the pavilion, then we had the dance floor setup on the grass at the far end – so when the sun went down, we were dancing under the twinkle lights and stars. It was gorgeous!! Everything we hoped it would be, and more. Thank you Becca and all the team at Bowman’s for helping to make our day so memorable and special. We are so grateful!!
We had our wedding at the preserve on 9/28 and it was absolutely perfect. For any ambitious DIY brides, I would definitely recommend having your wedding at the wildflower preserve ...
for it's affordability and amazing scenery. It was a lot of work, but it all paid off. Many people remarked that they had never been to such a beautiful wedding venue and I just know that the photos are going to be amazing as well.
We had our wedding here on 8/31 and it was absolutely perfect. It’s definitely a DIY venue, but if you’re into that sort of thing, and you’re looking for a private, outdoor atmosph...
ere then this is the perfect venue.
We rented the pavilion for the reception and added on the night-before set up option. Our family and friends met us there on 8/30 for a rehearsal/set up party and we had a taco truck come on site which was a hit. We set up the ceremony next to the pavilion (with the meadow/tall grass as the backdrop) and it was beautiful...no "alter" or anything needed! Ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were all in one place making it easy for our guests...AND the bridal party still got to take our photos up by the pond (without paying the extra pond fee), so that was a win-win as far as we were concerned.
Richard and BHWP were extremely flexible, with very few rules (except for closing time and leaving the place as we found it). Not a single person bothered us, we really felt as if we had the entire place to do what we wanted for those 2 nights! As others mentioned, it does get very dark so factoring in some spotlights/solar lights for the bathroom walkway and the parking lot is a good idea.
I would highly recommend designating someone (a non-guest) as a wedding coordinator to assist with handling vendors and making sure all of the day-of details are set, so you can have a stress-free day. Luckily we had someone but I under-estimated the value of a coordinator until the week before and it would not have run as smooth without her.
Richard reached out the week after asking where to send the security deposit, so that was really nice that I didn’t have to shake anyone down for it.
Everything came together beautifully, and it was awesome to experience our dream wedding exactly as we had envisioned. We wouldn't change a single thing about it!
If you're looking for a whimsical, beautiful wedding venue in the lovely town of New Hope, PA, I highly recommend you check out Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve. After visiting a ...
few more traditional venues, we loved the flexibility of Bowman's. Lacking the strict rules of other event sites, Bowman's enables you to build a wedding venue that is an authentic reflection of what makes you unique as a couple. In many ways it is a "blank canvas". Depending on the time of year you visit, it can be difficult to envision what your day will look like at the preserve. We visited in the winter, and without the lush greenery and blooms, it took some imagination to picture a summer wedding there. However, I'd recommend simply googling some weddings that have taken place at the preserve, and very quickly you will see the limitless potential. I will mention that bringing in every piece of equipment (tent, chairs, tables, catering ovens, plate/dinnerware, decorations, etc) does get more expensive than we originally planned. Therefore, I recommend getting some quotes for necessary rental equipment prior to making your decision so there are no surprises down the road. An all-inclusive venue may be the better choice for couples who do not have the time and energy to put into planning every detail of their wedding. That said, if you are a creative couple who is ready to put the work in, Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve is a great option. We had amazing feedback from our attendees, and we're thrilled with how the day turned out! Highlight video (Enchant Cinema): https://youtu.be/b0al0a3Wfgc
We had an amazing experience with Bowman's Hill: The location was stunning and serene with wildflowers, open land, and lush trees. We used the fireplace and twinkling lights as it ...
softly rained. I highly recommend this venue for their flexibility, communication, price, and value. It feels good knowing your money is going right back into preserving the land for years to come. Amazing photos were taken by Silent Film Photography on site! To see photos of our day please see Silent Film Photography on insta.
When we found Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, we knew immediately it was the perfect location for our dream hippie wedding.
We wanted a venue that felt natural and lush, BUT...
not TOO rustic or country feeling. We had been seeing a lot of barns or country estates, both of which were not our style, but on separate ends of the spectrum. Bowman's offered us that perfect combination of lush greenery, rustic woods, and classy well-maintained grounds. We were also two brides getting married, so an extra bonus was that the wedding could be held near the always friendly and fun town of New Hope. (o:
We also knew we wanted a DIY-wedding so we could make sure each detail was unique to us. That being said, if you aren't ready for a truly DIY wedding, you may want to look elsewhere or if not, be prepared to spend a good % of your budget on a full scale caterer. Bowman's only offers the physical space - all catering/rentals/ceremony chairs/etc/etc need to be arranged separately. They do have nicely updated bathrooms at the Pavilion area (with rugs/chandeliers) and 14 picnic tables available for use, but all other items would need to be rented.
We had our ceremony and cocktail hour at the nicely manicured "New Pond," which our guests raved about. The lovely landscaping and paths offer just enough polish for a wedding without losing any of the outdoorsy-feel.
The highlight for us was having our reception at the Captain Moore Pavilion. We had seen many photos of outdoor/rustic weddings where it looked like the entire party happened in a big white tent and that seemed so impersonal. The Pavilion has awesome stone/wood details and a fireplace - it made for the perfect background for our day. The lit fire looked so great in photos.
The coordinator at Bowman's was also very helpful through the entire set-up process and answered all our many questions.
All in all, I cannot recommend Bowman's enough if you are searching for a perfectly boho outdoor location for your big day!!
