Branching Out Cakes

Thank you to Jill for the amazing cake. We bought a small cake for cutting only but Jill treated us like we were big clients. She had us over for cake tasting and design. Within minutes she had sketched a design that complemented our invitations and decor. The cake was beautiful and tasted great!

This was the best wedding cake I have ever had and I am not saying this because it was my wedding. The textures and flavors of the cakes went so perfectly well with the flavored fillings. Best of all the cakes were not wrapped with fondant. It was so easy to work with Jill, the baker, to create the designs I wanted for the wedding cake and for the groom's cake. I had no idea what wedding cake design I wanted but somehow Jill created a very beautiful cake that was perfect to me. As for the groom's cake, she hit it out of the park. I gave her a general idea of the design and she delivered exactly what I envisioned but could not describe.

Jill made a stunning cake for our wedding. It was classy, elegant and timeless - it was exactly what we wanted. In addition to the cake looking good, it also tasted great!! So many of our guests asked who did the cake because it was THAT good. My fiance and I had the hardest time choosing only three flavors because they were all so delicious. Jill and her team are artists, producing only the highest quality. Highly recommended for wedding or any other event in which you might need a cake. SO GOOD

Not only was the cake exactly what we wanted, inside and out, but Jill worked with us on making sure the cake was fresh despite the 108 degree weather. Additionally, she makes you a small cake on our 1 year anniversary!

Our cake was beautiful and delicious! Jill was excellent and I am still dreaming of our cake; can't wait for our first anniversary so we can enjoy again with a fresh new cake from them.

Our wedding venue, the Marines’ Memorial Club, suggested Branching Out. Jill, the main contact was great. She was very familiar with the venue, and was able to waive certain requirements/charges (eg, rather than us returning the cake stand personally, she handled it with the venue). This made the cake my favorite part of our wedding planning—the tasting was great (all her cakes were delicious), Jill suggested lots of options for both style and flavor, and Jill was super responsive to our emails. On the day of the wedding, the cake looked beautiful and tasted great. We had two flavors (lemon, very light and refreshing, which was my husband’s preference), and chocolate raspberry (fudgy and delicious, my preference). I especially loved that Jill used fresh, whole raspberries in the layers of the chocolate cake (rather than just a raspberry jam). To me, this made the cake unique and sophisticated. I recommend Branching Out to all Bay Area brides without hesitation.

We only met with one cake vendor, because after meeting Jill Branch of Branching Out cakes, we felt no need to look any further. The tasting was at her house in Marin, where we felt so welcome and special. Her cakes were good, my husband (then fiance of course)was so excited about our order -- and he originally pushed for the desert bar alternative. All of the flavors we tasted were unlike any wedding cake we'd ever had...20 times better! The cake design itself was perfect. Jill took our invation and matched it perfectly. I had so many compliments, a couple of my bridesmaids even posted pictures on Instagram!! I'd recommend this vendor to anyone getting married in Marin/San Francisco. They are easy to work with and it feels good getting personalized service from a, independant family owned company. Oh, and the cake stand options they provide are fantastic as well - we picked on that looked vintage, almost like milk glass. The icing on the cake -- on our first anniversary, Jill will make us a small cake. We didn't have to save and freeze any of our wedding cake (as if we'd actually eat it a year later...yuck!). It's included in the cost of her service and is such a nice touch.

We are STILL getting compliments on how amazing our wedding cake was - Jill was wonderful to work with, we did an initial tasting appointment followed by a design session and second tasting. She even offered to meet our wedding planner the morning of the wedding to give her the cake, so we didn't have to do an additional delivery fee. As far as cakes go, there truly is no one better than Jill - the design was exactly what we had envisioned and the 3 flavors we chose were ALL a huge hit. Can't wait until our first anniversary for another one!

Jill and her co-workers are nothing short of amazing. My husband was the mastermind behind the cake and he and Jill were 100% on the same page, it was delightful to see how well they clicked. We went to a tasting at her home and couldn’t choose between 4 cake flavors, so we chose them all. Her frosting was light but sweet and the cakes were SO moist! This helps in part that Jill does small batch baking and never freezes her cakes, high quality!! Jill did an amazing job bringing our vision of a huge, white, sugar flowered Italian style wedding cake to life—it was very important to my husband that the cake be very tall, of correct proportions and “explode” with sugar flowers. We couldn’t believe it, everything we described was transfigured into our cake. It was so amazing that guests were taking pictures next to it! Jill even took the time to replicate the beautiful silk flower appliqué lace from my wedding gown!! We were so pleased with Jill’s service, the cake tasted just as delicious, moist, and decadent as it did during our tasting. Jill was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was so easy going and accommodating. I highly recommend her services. We received quotes for the style of cake we wanted form other bakers and they were astronomically high, Jill offers high quality service at a very reasonable price, and we were so appreciative to have had her as our cake artist!

If I could give ten stars for the cake I would. We had the most FABULOUS cake!!! Jill really blew everyone away. I had a dress with large beautiful flowers on it and the cake matched them perfectly (I had sent Jill a picture). But beyond being stunningly beautiful it TASTED amazing. AMAZING! I am not a big cake person, but this cake make you realize why people love cake so much. The flavors were wonderful and it was exactly the texture and lightness that a cake should be! Many people told us it was the best wedding cake they had ever had, and since we had a room filled with culinary industry professionals it was a true compliment. I will find more reasons to order cake from Branching out! Thank you, Jill!

Jill Branch did an amazing job with our cake. We found her because I am gluten and dairy free (like her) and wanted to be able to eat my wedding cake. She was able to meet my dietary demands through a delicious chocolate cake. Our guests loved it! She even did half GF/DF for me and the other half regular. We also had a mixed cultural Indian/Western wedding with very specific decor that melded my husbands cultural designs with my tastes. We gave Jill our invitation and a few other pictures and her design was more beautiful than anything we could have even imagined! On top of that, her price was half the cost of other bakers in San Francisco. I highly recommend Jill Branch; just book her early because she is quite popular in the Marin wedding circut.

Jill Branch did an amazing job on my wedding cake and grooms cake. They were not only beautiful, but tasted SO good! The groom's cake was the 18th hole at Pebble Beach, and it looked really amazing. I'm really happy we chose Jill to do our cakes!

We loved working with Jill and her staff. We loved her design right away and I remember telling her "I didn't even know this is exactly what I wanted but it is." We were both a little surprised by how well she was able to take our simple ideas and a few pictures and create such a beautiful design. When we arrived at the reception, we noticed a slightly different but beautiful cake. We had asked for color decoration & this cake was ivory. It also turned out to be fondant instead of buttercream frosting. After the wedding, we let Jill & her staff know about the differences in what we ordered & the cake we received. Jill was extremely apologetic and handled the issue like an absolute professional. We were really blown away by how much she & her staff believe in pleasing the customer and making sure they live up to their obviously high expectations. We can't wait until March when we get our 1 year anniversary cake & will continue to highly recommend Branching Out Cakes!

Great/easy to work with. The cakes are to die for. The detail of the cake design is amazing. No need to worry about saving the top of your cake for your 1 year anniversary either cause they include in the cost to make you a small cake just for 2 for your 1 year! JILL AND BRANCHING OUT CAKES RULE YOUR PASTRY WORLD. They made our wedding cake. Oh. My. God. Jill is the NICEST, sweetest, warmest lady who just happens to make beautiful, incredible cake. Where Kay Dillon of Beaux Gateaux is confident and decisive, Jill is more of a gentle personality. Organized, too - she had paperwork to take home with us the day of our tasting. Her business partner lives in SF so they have quite a bit of coverage in the Bay area. Their cakes were head and shoulders above most of the other people we considered - the cake was light, not heavy like some boxed horror show, and the fillings were extremely flavorful. Plus, she bakes a complimentary one-year anniversary cake which is good since we only had 3 bites at our wedding before having to run off and do other stuff. Jill helped us pick the flavors and frosting and totally worked with me on the design. She sketched out a version of my preliminary ideas during our tasting. Then I worked up some variations that I showed her which I'll upload (so check out the photos). She had some great ideas to improve it such as reproducing the dotted border of our invitation along the base of one of the cake tiers, and in the end, she made us a gorgeous creation that really reflected the spirit of our event: creative and whimsical but modern with a sprinkle of romance. Branching Out Cakes is the best deal for the quality of design and flavor, $300 less than our second choice (because we were close enough to where they;My only hesitations were that she was a bit hard to get a hold of and her cake didn't grab me right away quite as much as our second choice.
