Looks like other couples here on The Knot, we had the similar experiences with Brett. Our first meeting with Brett was at an impressive office building conference room in Reston, ...
VA. Brett was polite and personable, and we felt comfortable with him. We decided on a package that included engagement photos, wedding photos, and an album. We paid installments as was requested in the contract. Our engagement photo session was ok, although we could have used more direction from Brett on how to stand, where to place our hands, etc. Most of the photos looked really amateurish, with awkward poses and poor lighting. We ended up with only four out of about two hundred that we liked. Our eyes looked like dark sockets in so many of the photographs. We gave him this feedback in hopes this would be corrected for our wedding day photos. Brett did correct these issue and we were more satisfied with our day-of photos. We paid him our final installment before he left the night of our wedding. Brett told me we’d have our photos in 4-6 weeks, but quite likely sooner; that he likes to under-promise but over-deliver. Well, that didn’t happen and we started contacting him at about the eight-week mark. We got ZERO response from Brett. We tried calling, texting, and emailing him over a period of months. He did NOT respond. We even called his mother (who’s also in the wedding industry) to find out if Brett was ok. She said as far as she knew he wasn’t ill or in the hospital. Our venue also tried to contact him because they were the ones who recommended him. Brett never had the courtesy to respond to any of us. It wasn’t until a fraud complaint was filed with the credit card company that the pictures suddenly appeared in our inbox. No message or apology from Brett, just the link for our photographs. And now it’s nine months later and we never got our wedding album. This photographer should NOT be in the wedding industry where people are counting on him. Save yourself the headache and hire someone who will be responsive, respectful, and deliver what you pay for in a timely manner. Very poor communicator and unprofessional! Shady guy!
Brett was extremely unprofessional when it came to delivering our wedding pictures to us. He responded to me shortly after the wedding and then completely stopped responding all to...
gether. It took numerous calls, texts, emails, and threats to sue him from myself and my family members before he delivered our pictures to us 4.5 months after the wedding. Some of the pictures were not in order and you could tell he rushed through editing some of them. He said nothing about the late delivery and I still have yet to hear from him directly. Soon after he sent the pictures I sent him the pictures we chose for the album (which we already paid for and which is listed in our contract) and he never responded to any of my messages. It has now been 2 months and still nothing. At this point he is just stealing money from us. Due to all of the stress and frustration we experienced, I would definitely not hire Brett as your photographer for any event!
Brett is a talented photographer, but impossible to get in touch with after you hire him. When we first contacted him for a quote, he was very responsive through email and quickly ...
set up a meeting with us. After that, things fell apart. We had to email him multiple times to schedule our engagement shoot and to get our photos. A couple weeks before our June 2018 wedding, he wouldn't respond to any emails or calls. We thought about hiring a new photographer. Eventually, we texted him and got a response. He showed up to the wedding, and was very professional. But after that, it was an absolute nightmare. He never responded to any of our emails, calls, or texts asking when we would receive our photos for two months - we even tried to contact him through social media, but no response. We started worrying that something was seriously wrong and we'd never receive our photos from him. After leaving frantic voicemails and urgent emails, he finally sent our photos. At first, we were relieved, and then we realized he did a terrible editing job, and there was a purple glow around us in all of the photos. We've reached out to him to fix the photos, but after 3 months, he's never responded. Luckily, I'm a graphic designer, and I was able to spend hours fixing them myself, but it's completely unacceptable to not edit the photos when a client paid you to edit them. At the end of the day, we love our photos, but it was absolutely NOT worth the hassle of dealing with Brett. Please don't make the same mistake as us - don't hire him.
My best friends hired Brett as their wedding photographer. I was the maid of honor, and during the wedding, he seemed very professional. Now, he has fallen off the face of the ea...
rth and refusing to give them their wedding photos. After multiple attempts trying to get in touch, including going to his office in Reston which is now closed, reaching out to other vendors who may know him, they have found out, he is telling people that all his June weddings have received their pictures. It just seems very unprofessional that he would become so unresponsive. They just want their pictures of their special day.
Brett did our engagement photos, as well as the photos for our September wedding. We absolutely loved how both sets of photos turned out! We chose Brett because be has such a goo...
d eye for capturing the atmosphere/feeling of the moment, while also creating some gorgeous photographs. The online download system he has makes sharing photos with family and friends super easy! The photos did take a little longer than expected to get back, just wish we had a little more communication regarding the delay. Otherwise 100% happy with Brett as our photographer!
We will be recommending Brett to all our friends who are getting married!
Just got our photos from Brett from our Wedding and we are SOOOO happy with them! Took a little over a month but well worth the wait! He did a great job, got all the pictures we ...
wanted, took some amazing portraits and captured some great candid photos. Our friends and family loved him and had a great time with him the day of our wedding. We will definitely be recommending Brett to our friends!
Brett killed it. We used him for the engagement and wedding package and we were couldn't say enough good things about his work. Behind each shot Brett took was passion and care. He...
knew these photos would be something we would hold on to forever and took that in stride. Brett's aesthetic is one of a kind and comes out in the photos. A month before our wedding we realized we would need a second shooter as we were getting ready in different locations and Brett delivered. We highly recommend Brett for any photography where you need thoughtfulness in every shot.
Brett's photos of our wedding were absolutely amazing! We highly recommend him to anyone looking for an amazing wedding photographer for their wedding!

g with us being our usual selves. After searching thru numerous blogs and websites and asking for referrals from family and friends, we were able to come across photos from some random guy named Brett Ludeke. In all the photographs we saw from Brett, everything was wonderfully candid and natural feeling. Nothing seemed overdone or edited. We had to call and book Brett on our special day! A few months later, Brett didn’t disappoint. Everything went naturally. Brett was extremely easy and fun to work with. He knew exactly what he was doing and we had fun in every step of the way, not to mention the end results being AWESOME!
We don’t really have to talk about how good Brett is with his craft, the pictures by themselves can attest to that. Thing is, we don’t personally know Brett. He was referred to us ...
by a close friend who happens to have found his site online as well. Our dealings were initially made thru emails and messages until we finally met on the day of our wedding. He is indeed an amazing professional photographer who delivered more than what we expected! We do not know how he did it, but our photos look great! Brett has our utmost respect. Keep your passion burning!

ial day is obvious in all of our photos. He also took the time to get out his specialized camera. He tried a variety of different poses in various locations at our venue; all of which came out great! Honestly, I feel like he probably worked too hard! Our professional photographs were received in a very timely manner. We got them back before we returned from our Honeymoon! His prices are reasonable and totally worth it to capture your precious moments.
