Hi, my name is Olga! I’m the founder of Brooklyn Dance Lessons. I’ve been living and teaching in New York for more than six years, and I’m happy to share my experience with you ! But first, I want to take a moment to introduce myself. Born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Russia, I’ve been a practicing ballroom dancer for over 20 years. I studied all major styles of ballroom and social dance as well as rhythmic gymnastics, and I’ve participated in over 200 prestigious competitions. I have a long record of achievements as both a ballroom dancer and teacher in New York.

We have loved taking dance lessons at Brooklyn Dance Lessons! We started off by taking their beginner social dance with 3 other couples. We worked with Ilya and Alina during that time to learn two different types of dance. Then, we signed up for 5 private dance lessons with Alina in preparation for our wedding dance. Alina was very attentive and helpful - we had so much fun putting together choreography that matched our song and dance style. Would 100% recommend!

My wife and I really enjoyed our time with Brooklyn Dance Lessons and with our instructor Alina. We had never taken any type of dance lessons in the past and she did a great job at teaching us basics that we could build upon and gave us the confidence to take on our big day! We did the "Look We Can Move" Package with 5 Hours that were scheduled over a 6/7 week period. The studio is in Gowanus, just a few blocks from Subway and is in a nice new building with an elevator that opens right up into the space. We enjoyed it so much that we extended the package an additional 2 Hours which gave us time to add some moves to the routine. Would highly recommend and look forward to going back to learn something new.

My husband and I originally purchased the 10 hour package for our first dance for our wedding, but we had such a great experience we ended up purchasing more lessons even after we finished our routine! We worked with Alyona and she was truly an amazing dance instructor. She was so fun to work with and was always able to break down the steps and explain the moves so clearly, we couldn't have been happier with the results. Alina was an amazing teacher! My fiancé and I| were able to get a full wedding dance routine down in less than 10 lessons. The instruction was super clear and fit our comfort and dance level. Good mixture of technical and feel. Will definitely come back to learn more styles of dance!

I guarantee that without our dance lessons with Alyona, my husband and I would've absolutely looked like deers in headlights for our First Dance. We LOVED working with Alyona, and we knew that by the end of our package of 3 lessons (2 group + 1 private), we would've benefited from 3 additional private lessons with her to knock out a choreographed dance for our chosen song. She was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and quick to point out where we may have gone wrong. At the same time, she kept it light and fun. We started to treat these lessons as little dates that got us excited for the big day. I can't say that we necessarily remembered everything on the day of (totally our own faults as we didn't practice enough), but we felt a lot more confident in getting through the song and really grateful we decided to do these lessons.

My finance and I did a 10-hour session pack with Marius to prepare for our first dance at the wedding. Marius, our dance instructor, was patient, funny, and simply wonderful throughout. He worked some magic with our choreography for the wedding and we couldn't be happier with the results. Everyone who works here is super nice and very knowledgeable in many dance styles. We worked with Alina and Emily on our wedding dance. We started by learning a little of several different dance styles (bachata, hustle, salsa), and then managed to go from not knowing much salsa to having an entire routine. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to do social dance classes or to learn a routine for their wedding dance.

We cannot say enough positive things about Brooklyn Dance Lessons! When our wedding was five weeks away, my husband and I decided that we would really benefit from at least a couple dance lessons. We weren’t sure if this would be a possibility, but the dance studio suggested a 5-hour package, and right from the start, it was so helpful in teaching us key steps and moves for our dance. Additionally, the studio was very accommodating when it came to scheduling the lessons. Alyona was a wonderful and very patient teacher. My husband and I were really starting from square one, but Alyona was so helpful in demonstrating the specific moves and then providing us with actionable feedback. We left our five lessons feeling very prepared for our wedding dance! We would highly recommend Brooklyn Dance Lessons!

My wife and I spent ten hours learning how to dance together with the help of Alina, who was super enthusiastic and helped us with every step! We were able to put together a really choreography. She was super detailed and showed us many different ways to deliver our vision for our first dance. The studio is well lit, the pictures and videos after each lesson were super useful, and we also enjoyed the group dance exhibitions to help us practice.

Alina was absolutely amazing! My partner and I are getting married this week and we waited until the last minute to schedule dance lessons. Thankfully Alina is such a great teacher. This dance class experience was perfect for us. I was pretty hesitant about taking a dance class leading up to our wedding, and my fiancée was really excited to do it so we tried it out. Alina was our instructor and she was fantastic. She was able to help us find a form rather than fully choreographed dance, but was obviously capable of doing that if we wanted. She made us feel extremely comfortable the whole time, and instead of focusing on looking at my feet, Alina got us to a place where I was able to just look into my fiancées eyes and smile. Truly a 5-star experience preparing for our wedding.

We had the pleasure of working with Alina as our wedding dance instructor, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. Over the course of 10 lessons, Alina broke down a complex West Coast Swing routine into digestible sections that we could easily practice on our own. Our primary instructor was Elya, who was an incredible instructor, patient, kind, funny, calm, and motivating! We had a great experience taking lessons for our first dance. Elya was helpful, kind, professional and encouraging and choreographed a dance unique to us. We did 10 lessons and they were the one fun thing we consistently looked forward to during the planning process. We weren’t even nervous on wedding day, just excited to show it off! My fiance (now husband) and I took dance lessons at Brooklyn Dance in preparation for our big wedding dance which we were both terrified of. We were matched with Elya who was just exquisite! Neither of us are natural dancers but Elya was incredibly adept at understanding each of our needs and how we learn/dance together as well as calming our nerves about performing in front of so many people. We got lessons here before our wedding and it was such an amazing experience for a few reasons. First of all, I'm personally a pitiful dancer and it was obvious on session 1. By the wedding day, I looked like I had spent years perfecting the art. Second, the classes were so much fun. It was something we looked forward to all week and plan to continue- never thought I'd say that! Last but not least is the team is amazing. This dance studio is amazing, and really listened to what we wanted to be able to do, especially in such a short amount of time. The instructor we worked with, Alyona, was patient, prepared, and confident in our ability to pull a difficult routine off, and her confidence helped us be confident! We loved taking lessons with Brooklyn Dance Lessons! Taking dance lessons together was the best part of planning our wedding. Our lessons challenged us to learn new things, got us out of our comfort zone, and always left us laughing (at ourselves). My husband and I got married at Foxfire Mountain House in the Catskills, NY on 10/22/2022. We started dance lessons in July with Emily. After 15 years together, we never really danced together and were SO nervous. We had no idea how to dance. I bought 5 lessons for us to learn some moves to Dancing in the Moonlight by King Harvest. I had very low expectations. Emily was incredible. We looked forward to our lessons with her. She took thorough notes so even if there was a large space between classes, we picked right back up where we left off. I ended up buying three more lessons that we took right after each other the two weeks leading up to the wedding and we practically had choreographed the entire thing. we were amazing all thanks to our lessons. one of my favorite memories of the planning process <3

We are not dancers and hesitantly decided to take lessons before our wedding. It was THE BEST! Alyona was our teacher and was so good. She understood that we weren't looking to be on Dancing With the Stars -- we simply didn't want to embarrass ourselves at our wedding. Not only did we NOT embarrass ourselves, we did quite well! She advised us on how to do a complete dance, gave the best advice and was so kind and helpful throughout the prcocess. Of course we listened to her advice to PRACTICE a bunch on our own time, which is probably why we figured it out. It was also a really fun thing to do together leading up to our wedding. We would highly recommend this place pre-wedding or really just for fun. I think we will end up taking lessons there in the future because they are so good!
