This is definitely a unique place for a wedding. It is located in a navy yard where the area is a bit questionable and security is required by the venue. The rooftop where the ceremony and reception are held is on a farm where the guests at the... ceremony I attended were standing in between rows of crops - translation – at this wedding all guests were standing in dirt/mud. Albeit the venue placed a narrow strip of burlap to stand on, it is still difficult to stand on especially for women in heels, seniors or disabled guests. After the standing-only outdoor ceremony, guests at this wedding were directed towards a narrow rectangular space that has two long rows of tables (approx 150 people). Simple and adequate although I was saying 'excuse me' the whole night as I tried to mingle with it being so tight on space. There is an awning over the tables however it was raining and the venue refused to take down the side panels in an effort to block the rain so guests at my table who were sitting closest to the edge of the awning got wet and said there were uncomfortable. The dance floor space is small. Outside catering is required for this venue. The caterer in the building next door provided the food which was sparse and mediocre at best. Unsure if it was the couple's choice or caterer’s protocol to serve the first course and dessert course butler style and the entrée family style but I did not get certain food options and left hungry. The bathrooms are located one floor down from the rooftop which is accessible only by stairs and I felt they were unusually dingy and dirty and worse than most public bathrooms I have seen. Bartenders and wait staff were on top of things. The view on a clear day is stunning. All in all a nice time due to the company but not necessarily a venue I would recommend for a group of more than 50, if at all.
