liver what we asked for, they didn't even bother to get back to us when we messaged or called. Additionally, when we finally did get a rendering of what they came up with, which did not meet our basic needs, we were sent a grainy picture via text message and nothing else. We called to get a ballpark estimate and were told it would be a week which was fine. Week came and went so we stopped by to find out what was happening. At this point, Scott fabricated a conversation with us that never occurred, pushing us off another week. I told him we were putout with their lack of communication and wanted to put the project on pause. Not even 2 hours later, Scott texted again with an exact cost.
We decided to not bother with Brown's games and went to Springer's in Bath. We got beyond excellent service, much better pricing, and a perfect design a week later. I will never go back to Brown's and will continue to bring all of my business to Springer's.

We traveled all the way from Washington, DC to Freeport, MN to make our wedding bands. We worked with Sharon in working out the dates, styles, and price ranges. We chose the rose gold, which adds a warm touch to the ring, and we got the braided style (others are available). The cost was within the range of bands one would find at other jewelers including the workshop, so don't worry about that. The workshop takes a little more than half a day, depending on your ring style. The goldsmith shepherds you through the process and is a patient and knowledgeable guide. I won't share too much about the process here because part of the fun is not knowing what exact steps will be involved in the ring. But I can attest that all of them are easy and safe.
The business is local and family run, and this matters because it will help ensure the customization of your ring and friendly customer service. You also get a picture album with your ring to remember the special occasion.
All in all, can't beat the quality and customer service at Brown Goldsmiths for this unique experience.

we can't say enough about her! She has seen us through our engagement, wedding, the birth of our two children, and I expect many more life occasions to come. Through her counsel and support, we have been able to design new pieces incorporating family jewels, including my rings and a stunning brooch-come-necklace. Sharon was so supportive of this work, never suggesting we select other gems unless we had the interest in doing so, and her vision and guidance (and patience) has been paramount to us getting done what we set out to do, especially when we didn't know the possibilities. My husband purchased and then enhanced a necklace with the birthstones of our two children with Sharon's help, and she surprised me when we came in to pick it up after the birth of my first baby by clipping the birth announcement from the local paper and placing it in the jewelry case with the necklace for me - I had no idea what was waiting for me (and we hadn't even seen the birth announcement ourselves)! My father-in-law is from Cape Elizabeth and has done his jewelry business at Brown Goldsmiths always; it was he who recommended them to us - we are so grateful!

Sue helped my fiance through process of designing the ring to make sure it was in a setting that would be elegant as well as protective to the stone. The diamond in my engagement ring was from my husband's grandmother's engagement ring and very special to the two of us. I was very nervous about leaving my ring with just anyone but after talking to my BFF and Valerie at Browns I was put at ease. Valerie was so attentive and knowable it blew me away. She took such good care of my ring and would check in to give me updates. She explained the entire process and what the jewelers would do.
