Bucktown Allstars

The Bucktown Allstarts made our wedding night! They are such a fun and lively group that everyone stayed on the dance floor the entire night. We kept saying we didn’t want the party to end and it was definitely because of the show they put on! Book them, you won’t be diappointed!!

Our wedding was incredible, and a big reason why was having the Bucktown All Stars as our band. We had amazing vendors across the board, but in hindsight, the Bucktown All Stars were the most indispensable vendor we worked with. They don't just play music, they create an epic wedding experience. Let's start with the basics - booking them and working with Steve (drums) and Kenny (trumpet) to do so was an absolute breeze. Both of them are class acts and helped answer all of our questions at the time of booking. As a musician and big music fan, my instinct was to micromanage the set list and be heavily involved, but Steve and Kenny reassured us to trust them and the process. We ended up sending them a ton of information about our musical preferences a few weeks before our wedding - definite songs we didn't want played, bands/songs we really liked and specifics about our wedding reception. With just those inputs, the Bucktown All Stars built a setlist that incorporated our preferences while also keeping our guests on the dance floor the entire night. It's clear that after 30 years, the Bucktown All Stars know how to build a set list and engage party goers. As a musician, the best part of the night was when they let me play four songs with them - 2 on piano and 2 on drums. Playing with them on stage in front all my friends and family was the peak of the evening and probably the peak of my life. From there, the band played off of the energy that came with the groom playing on stage, and tore the place down for the rest of the evening. Bucktown is a straight up party band. For our wedding, a crowded dance floor was one of the most important things we wanted. Bucktown helped make this easy, and engaged our guests for 3+ hours keeping them dancing. The band super interactive, with the horn section getting involved with the crowd, pulling enthusiastic party goers on stage (the mother of the groom was playing maracas and dancing on stage for part of the set). When we were looking for bands, there were many that had great sound and were talented. However, many came across as "sterile" - lacking in character or personality outside of just being able to jump from one musical genre to another. Many of these bands rotate out players and while they sound great, there is a lack of "pizazz" that Bucktown possess from 30 years of experience with each other. Bucktown owns their niche - they are brassy and funky New Orleans party band. If this is what you're looking for, I cannot recommend the Bucktown All Stars enough. Since our wedding, people have been raving non stop about the band. If we didn't have a destination wedding, we would already be looking for ways to book them again. If you are reading this review and not sure if you should book the Bucktown All Stars, stop your research here - BOOK THEM FOR YOUR WEDDING. You will not be disappointed!

Ahh man. What can I say. Bucktown was 90% why our wedding was so fun (I think alcohol, the photobooth, and the presence of a pool accounted for the remaining 10%). They are so great and dynamic and also worked with me to accommodate some spanish music that i needed to play since my family is Puerto Rican. I loved how interactive they were with the crowd, too. They’re also just very solid people - like I would go grab a drink with all of them. I was a bit nervous b/c I had recently moved to New Orleans and hadnt seen them live, but it was definitely top 3 best decisions I made for our wedding to have them be our entertainment.

BEST NEW ORLEANS BAND PERIOD! The Bucktown Allstars were so fun and high energy for our wedding, they exceeded every expectation! We were recommended by our Nola vendors and got to hear them when they played in Champion Square for the Saints. We were out of towners and had guests from all over the country- and even days after the wedding everyone was raving about how fun the band was. Their big brass horns are like no other band and they know every song you can possibly request. Their horns played our second line after the ceremony and they even played the Jewish Hora/Hava Nagila at request of my husband's family. They truly made our wedding special and are a must for a classic New Orleans wedding! Steve, Kenny and the crew are also so easy to work with. We would recommend to anyone who are looking for the wedding band who can do it all! You will not regret it!
