When we got engaged, there was no question we were going to see if Bud was available. Bud and Sarah make everything feel easy and comfortable from the very beginning. We felt so comfortable being photographed by them and we had SO MUCH FUN! we truly felt like we were with old friends. They captured every single moment. Where do I even start with this review- this man is a wonderful photographer and human being! we had a reshoot in Savannah after our wedding day photos with another photographer so bad we couldn't use most of them. Bud was a DREAM to work with. He went above and beyond to not only help us recreate our wedding day, but also got so many shots we never got. One of the best decisions we made was hiring Bud and Sarah for our wedding photography! Both Bud and Sarah were incredible to work with throughout the whole process - from the initial proposal to the final edits :) On the day of the wedding, Bud brought energy, positivity, and happiness as well as a sense of calm (which we all appreciated so much!!). We originally hire Bud in February 2021 for our engagement photos, Bud was AMAZING, so easy to work with, gave us really fun prompts that made our session so fun! Even without seeing our photos, we knew we HAD to hire him for our May 2022 wedding. He delivered our engagement gallery really quickly and when they arrived, we were BLOWN away!!! Every single photo was breathtaking! His wife Sarah is a doll and the sweetest! Even as stressful as wedding planning can get, I never once worried that our wedding day photos wouldn't come out spectacular, and Bud did not let us down! We had a morning wedding in Isle of Palms and he arrived well ahead of time. He captured every single second of the day perfectly. All of our wedding guests LOVED him too! The day goes so quickly but Bud captured moments I would have forgotten & even ones I didn't realize happened!! He made an amazing day even better!

I am SO thankful that we found Bud. I am an out of state bride and was going mostly off reviews and his portfolio and once I was his photos, I knew he would be perfect for my wedding. Bud is such a great hype man and so accommodating while taking photos. I sent him a 20 page document of photo inspo and he illustrated all of it perfectly! My husband and I agree that we would come to the Hilton head area again just to take photos to have him as our photographer. We hired Bud to photograph our wedding on 2/22/22 in downtown Savannah, Georgia. We could not be more pleased with our experience with Bud and Sarah Johnson!!! Bud was not only professional, but friendly, warm, and brought an energy that lights up a room. I am not especially photogenic and was anxious that I would look awkward and end up with wedding photographs that did not capture the joy of the event or how beautiful I felt that day. Truly can't say enough about Bud! We absolutely loved having him as our wedding photographer. From communication, reasonable pricing, willingness to work with our requests, and patient personality, Bud hit all of the buckets we were looking for. Prior to booking, we met virtually with over 10 top Savannah photographers to describe our needs/wants (minimal, we were only looking for ~4 hours of photography - closer to an elopement package. We used The Knot/Wedding Wire/online reviews to find vendors). We are a "destination" couple and it was difficult to not be able to meet with vendors in-person; we were iffy from our conversations up until we met Bud. Overall, we definitely meshed with Bud the most and he was more than willing to accommodate our interests. On the day of, Bud blew us away. He has a wonderful personality (is definitely willing to laugh with us!) and always made us feel comfortable throughout the day. Our family and friends were so impressed with Bud that they wanted pictures with HIM! We received our photos in a timely manner that was designated in the contract and they're more than I could have hoped for. 10/10 recommend Bud to anyone in the area. Big shoutout to his wife, Sarah, as well who manages all communication prior to the date. She made the process seamless! Dream team.

Long story short: Bud is terrific to work with. He was able to accommodate our semi-rigid timeline (we were married in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and had to get all the photos we could before it was opened back up to the public) and was able to adapt when a thunderstorm came through right when we were planning to take photos in the park. His prices are excellent and the product he delivers is superb! You'd think after getting through the wedding weekend (finally!) that I'd want to take a break and not worry about writing any reviews, but I was so pleased with Bud's work this weekend that I wanted to get this out there today in case anyone is looking for a photographer at this second! Bud was a pleasure to work with. He was friendly, organized, creative, and able to adapt. We were working with a few restrictions that may now affect you, but I wanted to share how happy I was with my experience. First, we were married in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. There are hard deadlines on when they'll open the doors back up to the public after your wedding, so I was initially concerned we wouldn't be able to get all of our photos before the crowds started wandering into every shot. We gave Bud a wishlist of photos we hoped to get, and Bud got every one and then some. He didn't rush at all. He took time on each photo, but he was so well organized that we maximized our window. The second external hiccup was a thunderstorm that popped up just as the wedding ended. We were hoping to get wedding party shots inside them move outside to get shots with extended family/friends because of the limited time allowed in the Cathedral. Bud was able to get every outside shot we wanted inside the beautiful Cathedral. Bud's work is phenomenal! I mentioned to my wife on our ride home that, "I don't know how to say this so it doesn't sound conceited, but I looked really good in those photos!" I had to explain that I knew she would be beautiful, but I just expected I'd kinda just be there. Bud really knows how to get the most out of every shot! There were tons of shots of the wedding of course, from all angles. We missed some of our shots in the park next door due to the storm, but we were able to take our shuttle around to a few spots in Savannah that Bud recommended. I can't describe how beautiful those settings looked and how GOOD we looked in them! Bud is super creative, and was able to invent shots on the fly. In a classic example of turning lemons into lemonade, Bud took a shot of my wife and I in the reflection of a puddle on the side of the street that might be one of my favorites! Now you may be asking yourself "how does this guy know that the photos will be any good...they just took them Saturday?" That's a reasonable question, because Bud was snapping photos from early Saturday morning straight through to the final exit at 9pm...when would he have time to show us photos? He provided a photo slide show DURING THE RECEPTION while still taking photos! And I don't mean that he just flipped through the shots on his camera to show us a few, he had a full slide show! I honestly don't know how he did it all - he has to have an invisible clone or something. And since that *must* be the case, then you're absolutely getting a steal by only having to pay one of the Buds!

We absolutely loved working with Bud to get photos taken of us on our anniversary! Not only do we now have beautiful photos of this time in our life but also photos that really show our personalities as well. Bud has a such an amazing quality of making you feel comfortable in front of the camera. We had so much fun and it was the perfect way to spend our anniversary!

My husband and I absolutely loved working with Bud! Bud and his wife, Sarah, were very responsive during the planning process. We decided to have a destination wedding in Savannah and the first time we would visit the city was the weekend of our wedding so it had to be right the first time. Bud was fantastic! I have only had one wedding and, therefore, one wedding photography, but I feel 100% confident in saying that Bud Johnson is THE most friendly, enjoyable, fun, easy-going wedding photographer - no point of comparison needed. The popular quote around our house after the wedding was "Bud Johnson - wedding photographer; friend to all." Beyond that, he is SO talented. Rain was in the forecast so we made a very last minute decision to rent a tent, which turned out to be a terrible idea because the rain held out for the ceremony and our ceremony was dark. BUT Bud managed to capture beautiful, bright photos even in the dark tent. He was also great about finding creative, dry locations for our formals and couple photos when the rain hit after the ceremony. Bud was there shooting all night long. It seemed like he didn't miss a beat. We know this because we have an endless supply of incredible photos of our friends and family on the dance floor. He captured such great, candid, fun moments. In fact, the photo we chose for our thank you cards (and which is our very favorite photo) is a candid. Bud and Sarah were beyond accommodating and flexible to meet our wants and our budget. We loved all of our wedding vendors but we loved Bud Johnson the best! Bud did our engagement photos, and we knew right away that he had to be our guy for our wedding photos too. Not only were all of our photos everything we wanted and so much more, Bud and Sarah make one amazing team to work with! Bud brought a fun spark to our engagement shoot and wedding (guests loved him!) that made all of the experiences even more fun. Cannot thank Bud Johnson Photography enough for their outstanding work! I knew that we wanted to keep our budget as small as possible but one thing I stressed was a good photographer. Well we received GREAT and not good!!! They were worth EVERY dollar, my family is very large and they like to joke and not take serious photos and that was my biggest fear. Bud let them get the sillys out and then snapped some of our best family portraits! He listed to all the details we wanted to capture and is still the talk of the wedding. He put together a small slide show while we were eating dinner to see what he had gotten so far. He made sure to backup the photos several times throughout the wedding to make sure nothing was lost or deleted! His second photographer he brought in was absolutely amazing as well. We were able to get photos of the groomsmen getting ready as well as the ladies who were getting ready at 2 separate locations. I have known Bud and his wife for roughly 20 years. I’ve watched them grow into adults with a growing family and a thriving photography business. When it was time for my second chance at marriage with an 8 year old in tow. I didn’t even bat an eye at selecting our photographer for the ceremony and reception. It was Bud all along. Where to begin?! Bud is simply the best!! When searching for a wedding day photographer my husband and I agreed we wanted someone we "clicked" with since we would be spending the entire wedding day with them. Bud checked all of the boxes. He is so talented and so much fun to work with. I highly reccomend doing the engagement photos as well. Although we are a couple that doesn't particularly enjoy taking pictures, Bud made it fun! We laughed the whole time and most importantly got amazing pictures! He also shared a few pictures with us during the reception and then set up a slide show for the guests to see. Everyone LOVED it. I got so many comments and texts from guests raving about how amazing our photographer was and that they loved the slide show. I can't recommend Bud enough! His pictures are so creative and artistic so you will love the end product. But, you will also love having your picture taken! We live out of state and had our wedding. In Tybee Island so all of our communication was done over the phone and email. In all the craziness of the wedding day meeting Bud was the best part of the day besides marrying my best friend of course! He was calm, he went with the flow, the photos he captured I can look at all day! We went in the ocean and Bud rolled up his pants and got in there with us to get the photos we wanted and talked about prior to the wedding! If I lived in Savannah I would refer Bud to everyone I knew!!

He and Callie Beale (his second shooter who is also based out of Savannah, GA), were so accommodating and easy to be around and that is reflected in the essence of our photos. Our friends are still talking about what great people Bud and Callie were, and how they were absolutely everywhere capturing great moments for the full 12hours we had them with us. I was looking for a photograph to do our engagement photos before my fiancé deployed overseas. I contacted Bud Johnson Photography and got a response right away saying that he was available a couple days we were in town (on family vacation). I live in Ohio and my fiancé is station in Mississippi. We met and fell in love in Savannah, he was stationed in South Carolina when we first met so it just felt right to get our engagement photos taken there. I am pretty picky when it comes to photography, that might be the graphic designer in me, but as soon as I found Bud I knew I wanted him to take our photos. We decided on sunrise shoot and my fiancé can back me up on this, I am not a morning person but I gotta say you would never have guessed that. Bud’s energy is so contagious, it brought out all the good! We did the beach first, it was a gorgeous sunrise and with Bud’s direction and help, he made us look better than that sunrise. After that we headed into town and got some picture in the park, the morning flew by and all three of us had a blast! I wouldn’t have changed anything about that morning, especially after seeing our sneak peeks!! Gosh. I’m in love with all of them. The best part was that Bud even when walking back to our cars, he would be like, wait! Stop right there. That would be a perfect shot. He took our picture right up until we got into our car and left. It was amazing how he works all the different angles and the lighting. Can’t say enough good things. I still catch myself just flipping through my online album.

I found Bud on Instagram, and he replied within minutes. He was super professional throughout the whole process. I got engaged 5 days before our Savannah trip and thought it would be a good idea to have engagement shoot there, so that’s where finding Bud comes into play. His prices were reasonable and his work was artsy and stunning. Bud made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. We honestly had the best session and it was a highlight of our trip in Savannah!

Bud and Sarah are top-notch, an incredible team! Bud photographed our fall wedding on Jekyll Island--and we were thrilled with his service and professionalism. Not to mention the final product! Bud went out of his way to ensure we got the shots we wanted, while adding his own style and touches. He even brought along a second shooter to ensure we had coverage in different venues, and from different angles. Bud is personable, and made for a calming presence on an otherwise hectic day. He has a subtle way of letting you be you--and it comes through in his work. He's also great at collaborating with other vendors. We still talk about how Bud and our videographer worked so well together. Bud was absolutely wonderful to work with! From the very beginning, they patiently stepped us through the process of planning for our bride and groom photography and making sure we got the photos we wanted. Bud and his wife Sarah were an absolute joy to work with! Bud met us in St. Simons, GA where he photographed our 3rd Wedding Anniversary session and we couldn’t be happier with our photos! Bud was very personal and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. Bud and Sarah are absolutely amazing to work with. From the moment we met with Bud, we felt so comfortable-- none of the other photographers we met with could even compare. Bud is a mixture of a lifelong friend you never knew you had and a consummate professional. His pictures are stunning, they're clear, creative and capture the moment, but most importantly for us he has a way that brings out the heart and emotion in each and every shot. We simply couldn't go with anyone else. Now we'd seen his amazing photos, but we do not consider ourselves particularly photogenic-- we both greatly prefer to be behind the camera ourselves. From the moment we began our engagement shoot he made us feel so comfortable in our own skin. He also teaches you some techniques for how to pose. Most importantly, he brought us both out of our shell and helped capture us for who we are together rather than unnatural posed pictures. He even took some polaroids so that we had special mementos of the day. When we got the results, we were amazed-- and we got more photos in our 2 hour engagement shoot than most photographers will guarantee for an entire wedding day! And the editing he does is just the perfect amount. Later was the bridal portrait. Bud and Sarah helped pick the perfect location and took absolutely stunning pictures of the bride. The groom was absolutely blown away when he finally got to see them. Finally, on the wedding day, Bud was the best. We had the package where he would bring in another photographer and Bud brought in his best friend and brother in law Su. Bud captured the bride's side while they got ready while Su hung out with the groom's. The pictures they took are worthy of a magazine and they found a way to capture our relationships with all of the special friends around us. For the ceremony, bridal party pictures, and reception, they took utterly amazing photos and absolutely captured everything we wanted them to and more. We had a very large wedding, but during all of the craziness getting to hang out with them-- particularly during the more calm moments-- was one of the best parts. We cannot recommend Bud and Sarah any higher. Sarah is super responsive and handles all the business side of things and is an absolute pleasure. And Bud is an amazing artist who really will become like one of your best friends who you never knew you had. We booked a package that included an engagement session, and it was hugely helpful to have that time with Bud as he stepped us through a variety of poses and learned what we liked and what made us comfortable. Neither my husband nor I are incredibly comfortable in front of a camera, but Bud made the experience easy and fun - and, most importantly, he captured beautiful images that feel very authentic to us. We really cherish the photos from our engagement session and our wedding, and we are so thankful that we found Bud and Sarah!

Bud and Sarah were a joy to work with. We had met Bud a couple years prior at our friend's wedding, so when it was our turn to get tie the knot we knew exactly who we wanted to capture our special day. Bud and Sarah are so attentive and answered every single question we had in a very timely manner. Our facetime meetings were awesome and we could tell that Bud and Sarah genuinely care so much about all of their couples. When the day arrived, it was like Bud was already a part of our family. He stayed for EVERYTHING and it was a really LONG day. I was worried that maybe he would be too worn out from two ceremonies and a reception but he was right there with a huge smile on his face until the very end. Our photos came out amazing and we have way more than a few favorites. We received so many compliments and I love that our friends and family are able to look at them anytime they want on the online album that Bud put together for us. I wish Bud and Sarah could capture all of my life events!

Common Spark is absolutely incredible!!! After meeting with Bud we knew that our search for a photographer was over. I had seen their work because of my sister in law and I absolutely loved their style. However, after working with them personally I love them for beyond just their pictures. Bud and Sarah are amazing people and genuinely care about their clients. They walk you through every step of the process and you don't have to worry about a thing! If I ever had a question, they emailed me back right away. I can't say enough good things about them!

From the very beginning, Bud and Sarah went above and beyond and far exceeded any expectations we had regarding wedding photography. Our first conversation with Bud was over skype – he took the time to get to know us as a couple and blew us away! Sarah was so on top of everything as the “brains behind the operation” and was also quick to answer an email/question or to make sure that we were all on the same page, which is SO important when you are in the thick of the wedding planning. When so many aspects of the planning process are stressful, Bud and Sarah made everything seamless. There are so many things that set Common Spark Media apart. Their attention to detail is unbelievable, and Bud and Sarah really tap in to the whole “point” behind wedding photography in the first place – which is to capture the love and memories in to photographs and keepsakes that can be cherished for a lifetime. One of the COOLEST things that Bud does is offer prints of a handful of photos that he takes throughout the session (he did this for both our engagements photos and my bridal portraits) as well as during the wedding day! It was awesome to have something tangible (presented in a handcrafted leather pouch that Bud MAKES HIMSELF – like I said, ah-mazing!) that you can immediately flip through…talk about instant gratification  Even more amazing? Bud slipped away while everyone was eating at our reception to put together a “day-of” slideshow on his iPad. He literally brought me to tears when he passed me the iPad so I could see the beautiful photographs that he had taken just hours before. Booking them for our wedding was absolutely one of the BEST decisions we made in regards to wedding planning. Bud and Sarah truly “get it” – they know what is important to their couples and are so unbelievably kind, quick to respond, and make you feel like you are the only couple they are working with. Bud instantaneously puts everyone at ease, from the couple themselves (trust me, my husband and I are NOT naturals in front of the camera…at ALL) to friends and family at the wedding – everyone LOVED him and we were so grateful to have a photographer that we felt like we had known for years. Honestly, I felt like I had one of my best guy friends hanging out with us all day, taking amazing photos. Which actually reminds me…the photos themselves? Truly breathtaking. Bud captures “feelings” which I didn’t even think was possible. He makes having your photo taken FUN and you somehow end up with a gallery of beautiful photos that make you think: 1) you are marrying (or just married) a rockstar supermodel and 2) he tapped in to what makes you tick as a couple. Trust Bud to get unbelievable photos (even when you feel ridiculous and he makes you do some sort of “action” – for me it was a run and spin – I promise, it’s worth it ) Bottom line? Book them. I promise you won’t regret it.

I'm extremely happy my wife and I chose Common Spark Media for our engagement pictures AND to photograph our wedding. The husband and wife run business came highly recommended from other friends and was consistent with other reviews I read online. They both are very good communicators; we never once felt pressured, disappointed or under-valued. One big turn on for us was that we outright own our pictures! They do not use copyrights and I like that! We also LOVED their photobooth! SO MUCH FUN! tons of props and fun and friendly photobooth attendant and we all the digital copies from that were uploaded within 24 hours! All of our expectations were beyond met we highly recommend this business because they are super friendly, accommodating, professional and hands-down excellent at what they do!

I cannot say enough things about Common Spark Media! Throughout the whole process Bud and Sarah were supremely helpful, timely, and above all, friendly! From our first inquiry we were amazed at the response times and excitement from Sarah! We set up a time to get to know Bud and talk about our options and get to know him, and from there our decision was made! We clicked instantly and he wanted to know our story and get to know us as people. Leading up the wedding they helped us a lot with our day of timeline and made excellent vendor recommendations. On our wedding day Bud and his second shooter Su were early and took a minute to get a lay of the land and meet our Bridal party. They really listened to the shots that we wanted. From there they took off to take as many photos as they could, and we could not be happier with the results. Our photos are GORGEOUS. Beautifully framed and setup, the colors pop off the page of each one making it easy to step back to each moment. Bud has an art to making staged shots (hey some moments just have to happen one more time) look completely natural. They did an excellent job getting every shot we could want. They both really made us all feel comfortable and we had the BEST time laughing and having a great time to get beautiful pictures. One of the best parts was while we were sitting down to dinner. Bud ran out to the car and compiled a short slideshow of some of the shots he had already taken. It was nice to take a moment with just me and my husband to look through the awesome day we were having and to be together. At the end of the night we were handed a leather satchel to take with us. It was filled with Polaroids of candid shots taken throughout the day. We had a great time looking through them once we got back to the hotel. Our pictures were delivered quickly after the wedding, in a great online album that we could share out to our families. It is a riot going through SO MANY pictures with people. There are seriously so many pictures that I could not think of a single "If only we had gotten this shot" moment. Our experience could not have been better, and we HIGHLY recommend Common Spark Media to any couple looking to really capture their wedding day!
