The food was both delicious and beautifully displayed, and the ability to rent our linens directly through the caterer was very convenient. The bartenders were rockstars, seamlessly balancing two signature drinks and a 200+ person champagne toast! The staff were all very professional as they quietly pre-set all of tables with salads and rolls, transitioned the cocktail appetizers to the dinner buffet, and cleaned up. It’s obvious that when you hire Top Hat, you’re hiring a team of professionals that can adeptly accommodate a large wedding, allthewhile providing your guests with delicious food. We highly recommend them.

Strict COVID rules were in place at the time of the rescheduled event and once again, they were able to accommodate. Thank You Top Hat Catering for pleasing everyone's palate that day. Almost underrated as a caterer for a formal wedding because most in the Dayton, OH area know them for their casual food, bbq and ribs, but their catering side offers high-quality food and service. It was seriously delicious. We received so many compliments on the food. The only thing was we ran out of salad a little early but had a ton of meat leftover so something was off in planning the proper amount of each thing to have prepared. Not worth dropping a star on, but of course, just a small error. Also, in the wake of covid-19, Bullwinkle's was so flexible about everything: the changing of my wedding date, amount of guests, amount of food needed, etc. They were completely understanding and easy to work with amidst constant changes.

Only good part was the baked Ziti was good. Served food late. I had a plate of food and I had to go say goodbye to a guest and my plate and water was gone. This was UNACCEPTABLE that I didn't get to eat because it was thrown away. Same with my cake! Speaking of cake-- it was time to cut the cake and they were working on loading the truck up. The DJ announced time to cut the cake, and there was no one around so my dad ran out to his car in the rain to get a cake server-- WHICH WAS MY MOTHERS and somehow after they cut the cake (finally), the knife disappeared. That was from HER wedding and so my parents went up there the next day and they didn't have it. I don't think anyone should go through that.

You get to try pretty much anything from their catering menu before making your selections, and you have the option of buffet or server style. The management at Bullwinkles is top notch, and we would highly recommend using them!

They also said they do the cake cutting so we planned that ahead of time, but 20 minutes went by and no one cut the cake. A girl working with them frantically ran up and asked if they were supposed to do it. Food was good but they really really messed up my big day.

Most companies want to nickel and dime you for everything, however that is not the case with Bullwinkle's. They were very up front about the costs and it was very affordable. They even made a suggestion for a better cut of meat 2 weeks prior to the wedding and allowed us to change the menu. We did also use them for bartending which worked out well. They recommended 1 bartender for 160 people, however looking back I personally would go with 2.

I got several calls the morning of the wedding with concerns that they didn’t think everything that the contact stated would be done was going to get completed in time. We actually had to ask the venue if they could get in earlier (which typically the venue charges extra for). I also had to send over two of my cousins to help with their setup because of this. This was super stressful. In the end it turned out great and the food was yummy. There was a crazy amount of left overs. We gave some away to family and even took some with us for the honeymoon. No one went away hungry.

owever, the service we got made the extra expense of going with someone else worth it. It took me 2 weeks to get a response from John Sizemore for just an initial quote. Then it took me 3-4 emails and 6+ text message (as a read on reviews that was the best way to reach him) to even get a response on scheduling a tasting. It's now been 2 weeks since our tasting with the owner and we still haven't received a follow up email with the final contract and quote we requested. When we arrived for our scheduled tasting he wasn't even there. The owner said "oh he must have dumped you all on me." Really? He didn't even know we were scheduled and John S. mentioned nothing about meeting with someone other than himself. We tasted pulled pork, BBQ chicken breast, mashed potatoes, green beans, and mac n' cheese. The chicken was bland and a big fat no. The pork was so so, too dry. The sauce was overly sour. The green bean were overly salty and the mac was alright. The only thing we could all agree on was the mashed potatoes. It's also worth noting that their china and flatware was far less impressive and formal than anywhere else we visited (they were like cafeteria basic) and the table cloths that are included (which was a huge selling point for us at first) are only lap length. I'm just glad I had this experience right off the bat so I could avoid booking them for our wedding. Everyone we met with through other caterers were eager to please, accommodate, and respond. They were friendly and welcoming and organized. That was far from our experience with Bullwinkle's.

We were not from the area so we had never heard of any caterers in town, but once we tasted the food and met with the staff, we knew this would be perfect. Everyone really enjoyed the meal and we were not even close to running out. The staff was great with setting up and our bartender was so easy to work with, even with our signature drink that he had to make multiple times throughout the night. We also had our rehearsal at Bullwinkle's and that was just as good. They have so many options and everything we've tried has been wonderful. I'm so thankful we chose them.

All of the guests have commented on how good the food was at our wedding. John Sizemore was very personable and is what made us choose Top Hats over other caterers. He was really nice and genuine with us. He was upfront about getting a hold of him and that the best way was texting. I would make sure to keep copies of contracts and receipts, just in case because one time we had to confirm a payment we made a few months prior. This wasn't an issue because he had told us to keep track of things as well. The staff on our wedding day was very helpful with drinks, and keeping the buffet stocked. The only complaint we had was that the staff was supposed to clean up at the reception, and my family ended up doing a lot of it.

re for the money. We ended up coming back and booking Bullwinkle’s. No one even came close to comparing to the quality and taste of their food. Plus their staff was wonderful, and linens and china were included at no additional cost. John Sizemore was a pleasure to work with. FYI: If you reach him by email, he will be a little slower to respond but he does respond. Just be patient. It’s worth it!!! Our guests were still raving about our wedding food months after the wedding. And there was enough food to feed all of our guests plus still have leftovers to take home. The wedding day staff were outstanding. I just can’t say enough about how great they were. We would definitely book them again.

caterer for us. The tasting was an awesome experience. It was laid back, the food was absolutely amazing and he didn't pressure us in any way. It was stress free and exactly the type of experience a bride and groom need while trying to plan a wedding. He let us eat, then came back at the end and asked how many people, the location, and what we wanted. He made the experience all about us, and what we wanted and expected. He gave us tons of options and came up with a special menu that tailored to what we wanted, instead of one of the options available. On the day of the wedding the catering staff showed up early and set up all the tables and even helped set up decorations! One of the staff members catered to my husband and I and always made sure that our glasses were full and that we had everything we needed. I wasn't expecting all of these extra services that they provided and it was an awesome surprise! They for sure went above and beyond my expectations! Everyone at the wedding including myself, absolutely LOVED the food!!! So many people asked who the caterar was, and complimented on how awesome the food was!! The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and courteous! I was overwhelmed with how great they were! Everything was perfect! I am so impressed with everything they provided!!! At the end of the night we had leftover food and a staff member told my family and asked what we wanted to do with it, and we ended up calling a homeless shelter and the staff delivered the food to the homeless shelter for us. It was the perfect ending, and made me appreciate the staff of Top Hat even more than I already did! So not only was the service amazing, but the food was the absolute best food I have ever had at a wedding, and luckily it was my own wedding! They were also very affordable, which was pretty important to us! I will for sure be recommending them to everyone I know!!!

The only complaint I had was we were told that he would bring the linen and kegs the day before. So we planned on decorating tables after the rehearsal dinner. He called that day and said he got another job and couldn't come until the morning of the wedding. It would of been nice to not have to stress about table decorations before the ceremony. But John and his team did set the tables, put centerpieces, and all of the candles that day because of it. They did our bartending too! Highly, highly recommend.

dinner rolls. I paid about $1,700 total for 80 people and it was soooo worth it. My wedding was in my backyard, in 105 degree heat I might add. There were 2 people working the buffet table and they were troopers, because you know they were dying of heat!! They even came and collected all the plates and silverware when dinner was finished. Tip was included in the cost. They set up fast, and put everything away without bothering or interfering a thing. Great professionalism. Highly recommended.
