I visited the Burke Museum this past Saturday with my kids, and we had such a wonderful experience that I felt compelled to leave a review. This museum is truly a gem in Seattle, especially for families. From the moment we walked in, the staff ...
were welcoming, and the exhibits immediately grabbed my kids’ attention. They loved being able to see real scientists working behind the glass, and the hands-on areas kept them engaged the entire time.
What really stood out to me was how interactive and kid-friendly everything was. My kids especially enjoyed the fossil and animal exhibits, where they could touch objects, learn through play, and ask questions. It wasn’t just another museum visit—it felt like an adventure. We spent several hours exploring, and they were still asking to go back as we were leaving.
This is definitely worth the visit, whether you’re a local or just passing through Seattle. The museum strikes the perfect balance between education and fun, and it gives kids an experience they’ll truly remember. I’m confident my kids will cherish the memories from this day—discovering new things, trying hands-on activities, and feeling like real little explorers. Highly recommend the Burke Museum for families!

The Burke Museum was such a cool surprise. It felt more relaxed and less overwhelming than the bigger museums, but still really interesting. I loved the natural history exhibits (the fossils and animal displays were awesome), and the Northwest ...
culture sections were really well done. One of my favorite parts was how you can actually watch parts of the research and collections work happening, which made it feel extra real and behind-the-scenes. It’s an easy, chill place to spend a few hours, especially if you want something indoors and educational without it feeling boring.

Amazing experience. Reasonable prices, and discounts for students! We have no selection of natural history like this in Oregon so this was truly a sight to see. Courteous staff, and the onsite café had delicious food as well.

This museum is a treasure. I took my family (grandparents and kid) to the Burke Museum and everyone found something for them. The space is neatly laid out with collections ranging from paleontology to Native American heritage and its contempora...
ry impact (including how a NW coast mask from the Kwakwaka'wakw tribe on Vancouver Island influenced the Seahawks logo). Kids visiting loved interacting with the exhibits, including in the upstairs play spaces. We all enjoyed too watching students at work cleaning fossils in the lab rooms (where we also learned about the flesh-eating beetles used to clean specimens for study or exhibition!).

The Burke Museum was a pleasant and interesting stop while we were in Seattle. The exhibits were easy to walk through, and I liked the mix of natural history, culture, and local stories. It felt calm and not too overwhelming, which made it easy...
to take our time. Overall, it was a simple but worthwhile place to visit.
