Burkhartt Photography

I’m Matt, the photographer behind Burkhartt Photography, based in Rochester, NY, specializing in documenting small weddings and intimate gatherings of 50 people or fewer. The focus is on real connection and honest moments. My goal is to create images that you can feel—not just see—capturing the energy, emotion, and intimacy of your day. With a background in photojournalism working for small to mid-size newspapers and publications like The New York Times, The Washington Post, and ProPublica, I’ve learned how to see the moments most people don’t notice or anticipate. I bring that same documentary approach to weddings, working more like a quiet observer than a director, allowing each moment to unfold naturally rather than staging or composing it. I love love, and I believe the beauty of a wedding lies in the small, fleeting interactions that reveal your special connection. From quiet glances to unguarded laughter, I strive to preserve the intimacy of your day in a way that feels authentic and true to you. Afterward, you’ll receive a beautifully curated online gallery of high-resolution images, ready to share, print, and treasure for years to come.
