Available for events year-round, Burlington is a wedding venue located in Charles City, Virginia. It was first built in 1818 and has been recently restored. Several features of the original property have been maintained throughout the various renovations, such as the pine flooring in the living room. This property is available for both ceremony and reception and offers a choice of indoor or outdoor locations. Facilities and Capacity Burlington offers couples the exclusive use of the property for the duration of their occasion. Two outdoor ceremony sites are available, as well as an expansive indoor ceremony space that can double as a reception venue. The indoor wedding space in the Stables features exposed wooden beams and custom chandeliers, while the gardens and lawn offer views of the surrounding countryside for an outdoor ceremony. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces can accommodate up to 300 seated guests. Two individual get-ready rooms allow the wedding party a private space to prepare themselves and relax before the ceremony. The Ice House Bar, an additional space converted from an 18th-century colonial ice house, can host cocktail receptions. Guests have access to the venue’s on-site parking facilities, which also includes a golf-cart shuttle for added convenience. This venue is wheelchair-accessible. Services Offered Burlington offers couples the use of parking attendants for the event, as well as assistance for setup and breakdown of the event space. Throughout the celebration, on-site staff are available to oversee the venue and to provide any additional help. Chairs and tables can be supplied for events, as well as three vintage-style mobile bars and two white mobile bars. With management approval, couples can invite their own outside vendors for catering, beverage services, decorating, event coordination, and other wedding needs. Accommodation This venue offers one side of the wedding party the chance to stay overnight in the Bridal Cottage the night before or after the event, if not both. The cottage sleeps up to seven guests and contains a kitchen, a salon, and three full bathrooms.

Our wedding at Burlington was absolutely magical, and a huge part of that was thanks to the venue itself. From the very beginning, we were drawn to its beautiful blank slate and timeless elegance of the property. It gave us the freedom to truly customize our wedding and bring our vision to life. One of the biggest advantages of Burlington was their flexibility with access to the venue since we were guaranteed to be the only wedding for the entire weekend, a rare find! We were able to spend a considerable amount of time at the venue 1-2 days leading up to the wedding, which was invaluable for the long set-up process, especially since we opted to DIY a lot of decorations. This relieved so much stress and allowed us to really personalize every detail, while also being able to sit back and truly enjoy the entire day of our wedding. The venue also had an impressive inventory of items available for use. The variety of tables, rolling bars, and other rentable items made planning so much easier. They really thought of everything! What truly set Burlington apart were some of their unique offerings that we didn't find at other venues. The outdoor heaters were a lifesaver for our evening dessert hour, keeping our guests comfortable even as the temperature dropped. The cornhole boards added a fun and casual element to our cocktail hour that everyone enjoyed. The fully operational vintage concessions trailer was a HUGE hit for late-night ice cream service – such a unique and memorable touch! And the groomsmen suite? Absolutely fantastic! It was so important that the groom and his party also had a dedicated space to relax and get ready. Perhaps the most amazing feature of all was the bridal cottage. Having the ability to add on an overnight stay was a game-changer! Being able to get ready on-site bright and early took so much stress out of the morning, allowing us to maximize the entire wedding day. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated, clean, and had plenty of space, comfortably sleeping six. The three makeup/hair chairs were perfect for our group, ensuring everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable getting-ready experience. We also have to give a shout-out to Madison, who was an absolute dream to work with. She was always incredibly quick to respond to our emails and provided invaluable insight during our on-site planning meeting. Her expertise and helpfulness made the entire planning process so much smoother. If you're looking for a beautiful, flexible venue that allows you to truly make your wedding your own, then look no further than Burlington. We can't recommend it highly enough!

I don't even know where to start! We got married at Burlington on 12/16/2023, and it was nothing short of a DREAM. The staff (specifically our girl Madison) was more than helpful and so communicative throughout the entire process...from booking to wedding day! Burlington is truly a magical venue, the open layout made our guests comfortable, and the spacious bridal suite made all 10 of my bridesmaids, plus hair & makeup plus parents feel cozy! My husband enjoyed the groom's suite and the full amenities it has! I could go on and on about how amazing of a venue this is, and I cannot recommend marrying your best friend here enough!!

Burlington Weddings and Events is breathtakingly beautiful! The staff couldn't be nicer and more accommodating. We have held our annual charity fundraiser there for the past two years and everything went as planned. I highly recommend Burlington for your event!!

A DREAM COME TRUE. I don't even know where to start! From the moment I stepped onto Burlington's grounds for an initial tour, I fell in love with the charm, peacefulness, and beauty of this venue. Madison absolutely made planning for this DIY bride a breeze. She was there to answer any question I threw her way, from rehearsal dinner suggestions to last-minute setup changes! During setup, Madison was such a calming presence there to help us unload, decorate, and point us in the right direction for everything! She is one of the main reasons our planning was so stress-free and wonderful. We fell in love with our time at the Bridal Cottage on wedding day - it is the most gorgeous setting to relax before the big moment, and so picturesque! We felt so pampered just spending time there! Our one-hour flip from ceremony to dinner during cocktail hour in the Main Bar went so smoothly. It was stunning to walk back into the room during our introduction and see the room absolutely transformed from just an hour earlier!!! Every inch of the venue is amazingly photographable, and we loved using the grand staircase for decorating and our grand introduction. Thanks to Burlington for making our wedding a day we'll cherish for the rest of our lives.

We could not have loved Burlington more than we did! This venue encapsulates everything we were looking for in our wedding: Rustic Virginia vibes with a classy and elegant touch. Madison was amazing to work with and answered all of our questions and concerns in a timely fashion. We loved having the Bridal House to ourselves for hair and makeup and enjoying all of our getting-ready snacks and mimosas. The room for the guys was a bit small for the 10 guys we had (8 groomsmen, groom, FOB), but they weren't in there long and it worked out just fine. The venue itself was absolutely stunning and so perfect for our big day. Thankfully the rain held off and we were able to get married on a sunny day in November!

10 stars is my rating for this venue and our experience with Burlington! We planned an outdoor wedding as the grounds are gorgeous with historic buldings and are meticulously manicured. Within 30 minutes of the service, the rain thought otherwise and Madison and the Burlington staff seamlessly flipped the wedding into to The Stable and we were not disappointed! My daughter, the bride, walked into the most beautiful, elegant, fairytale wedding she always dreamed of thanks to Betty, Madison and the rest of the Burlington staff. You have to see this room for yourself to appreciate the detail of the custom chandeliers, sconces, staircase, exposed beams and every attention to the perfectly appointed antiques, including the bar. One can easily see, that Burlington was built from love and our daughter's wedding there was the perfect start to their happily ever after.

Burlington is without a doubt the prettiest venue i've ever seen. The bridal cottage was so beautiful and the "getting ready room" was perfect! The make up and hair team said the lighting was perfect for their needs. My bridesmaids and I had the best time getting ready there. The Ice house is so cool and was definitely a hot spot for the wedding guests during cocktail hour. The property itself is gorgeous and is always well kept. The Burlington staff go out of their way to keep the planters filled with the most beautiful plants and keep the property well lit. It truly does look like a fairy tale. The staff is amazing. Every need/worry I had was addressed immediately. For instance, the weather was supposed to be clear on November 6th, but unfortunately it began to rain. The staff did a quick flip and got everything inside and holy cow it was beautiful and perfect! The amount of people that have told me that it was the prettiest venue they've ever been to and the most fun wedding they've attended is insane. The staff really go out of their way to make sure your day is perfect. I owe many thanks to Burlington, and a huge shoutout to Betty Howard and Madison Land!

We had to reschedule our wedding due to Covid-19 restrictions. Burlington did everything in their power to help us reschedule. The entire process was smooth; from the rehearsal - to the end of the night after the reception. The entire building has everything you want in a venue; a place for the groom and groomsman before the ceremoney, a bridal suite, 2 bars, large reception area which can hold a huge crowd, and the option for an outside/indoor ceremony. The staff of Burlington are extremely helpful and top notch.

This is the perfect venue - whether you are looking for elegance, vintage, or a rustic feeling this place has everything. They offer so many different features to help make your day perfect. The staff at Burlington is extremely responsive, quick to help along the way with any question you have. We utilized the day-of-coordinator as well, Madison, and she was Amazing. They were also extremely helpful when we had to postpone and reschedule our wedding from 2020 to 2021 due to Covid. You would not be disappointed choosing this venue... if you have any doubts just take a tour and you will FALL IN LOVE!

From the very beginning, Burlington has been amazing! We fell in love with the venue during our tour and have loved everything about it ever since. We decided to use their day-of coordinator, Madison, and she did a phenomenal job! She was so organized, yet very laidback to keep everyone calm. The number one comment I heard during the reception was how beautiful the location was. I would absolutely recommend Burlington and Madison as a coordinator to anyone and everyone!

Everything about Burlington Weddings and Events was a dream. The venue, the people who work there (!!!!!!), the well thought out spaces (ie Ice House, Groomsmen Den, Bridal Cottage, Make Up Room, etc) was all PERFECT! They were such a joy to work with and you can really tell they value their clients. We had to postpone our wedding 3 times and each time they were so wonderful, helpful, and flexible. I want to recommend them to everyone! If you're looking for a lovely venue with lovely people, look no further than Burlington!

If you are looking for an amazing wedding venue, Burlington is your venue! The buildings and property are absolutely gorgeous! The ladies there have been helpful since day 1! Betty, Jasmyne, and Maggie were always quick to get back to me with any answers or help that we needed during the whole planning process. Unfortunately we had to cancel due to the restrictions the governor has for COVID, but they have been so understanding and helpful through the entire process. They are extremely family oriented and very caring! Thank you ladies for everything!

If you are looking for a venue that has it all look no further! Burlington’s staff is absolutely the best! They helped with every detail of our wedding day. They answered every question (and I had many) quickly and handled issues that came up during the planning and on our big day with professionalism that even our guests noticed! Covid made planning hard but they didn’t miss a beat and rolled with the constant changes in guidelines. The grounds are absolutely stunning and no matter if you choose to get married inside or outside, your day will be beautiful. They have the best set up for the bride and groom to relax and get ready for the ceremony. We truly cannot say enough good things about Burlington Plantation!

My husband and I got married this past December and had our reception at Burlington Plantation with nearly 300 guests. After looking at dozens of venues throughout North Carolina and Virginia, when I walked in to Burlington the first time, it literally brought tears to my eyes. Everything from the chandeliers, staircase, chiavari chairs, elegant and spacious indoor bar area, to the ice house, groom’s den, and bridal cottage was absolutely perfect. You can tell that so much detail and thought went into the build of this venue. Anytime I had a question throughout the planning process, I was able to send a text or email and it was replied to almost immediately. It was also apparent that the owner is genuinely interested in the happiness of couples and making their day as special as possible. She was involved in the wedding planning process and was on site the day of our wedding. The staff was also very hands-on and offered to help with anything they could (I.e. helping guests park, breaking down afterwards, carrying decor/alcohol from our trailer, etc.). The whole experience and day of was absolutely a dream come true! So grateful to have had such a spectacular venue. You will not regret choosing Burlington Plantation for your wedding!

Burlington Plantation is the most beautiful place we could have chosen for our wedding and reception! I truly can't say enough positive things about this venue. Not only is the venue absolutely flawless, but the staff is so pleasant to work with as well. I can’t thank the event team at Burlington Plantation enough for everything they did for us during the whole process! From start to finish Mrs. Howard and her team were always there for us and went above and beyond to make everything about the experience far better than we could have ever dreamed, from the site visits, to my bridal portrait session, to the actual big day, where the whole staff gave 1000% the whole weekend to make sure everything was perfect. Can’t even begin to say enough good things about this venue and it’s staff. 💕💕 Not only is the staff top notch, but the facility and grounds are impeccable! The eye for detail in creating this venue is so apparent in all of the fine touches. Our guests have been raving about it non stop since our wedding. My dreams came true and it couldn’t have happened without finding this amazing venue and its extraordinary staff.

Wanda I was fortunate to attend a friends wedding at Burlington Planation. This venue is beautiful, gracious, and elegant. The owners and staff were very attentive and a delight to be with. My daughter got married here in June 2019. The girls used the bridal cottage to get ready. They had lots of space to get ready. Our hairstylist Kendall was impressed with the styling chairs they had in beauty salon room. The guys got ready and had lots of fun in the grooms den. The wedding was outside on a beautiful day. We used the Ice House to serve drinks for the cocktail hour. The meal and the reception was held inside the elegant ballroom. You have to see it to believe how spectacular it is. The owner Betty and Amber (director of events) were so easy to work with and very personable. The venue is gorgeous. The wedding was beautiful.

My husband and I got married here on 6/29/2019. When I attended a wedding here the previous year, it was love at first site! The venue is amazing, and the owners and wedding coordinators are wonderful to work with. They also use "All Seated" which makes designing and table placement/assignments a breeze. The have a bridal cottage on site that is big enough for all of your bridesmaids! 5 of my bridesmaids stayed the night and woke up with me on my wedding day. The cottage has a full kitchen, with separate make-up room suite, and bridal suite on the first floor. The top floor is an open room with multiple day beds and it's own full bathroom. On the grounds, they have the Burlington Ice House which is where we served beer and wine during our cocktail hour. The stables is beautiful with plenty of room tables, dance floor, band, photo booth, etc and also includes a spectacular staircase in which the parents and party walked down during the grand entrance. There is also an antique bar which is where our beer and wine was served during the reception. A grooms apartment is located a top portion of the stables which includes a full kitchen, bathroom, living area and bedroom with a day bed. It has plenty of space for all groomsmen to get ready the day of. There are also multiple different locations for you to have your ceremony whether you wanted a large wedding in front of the field (when I got married corn was growing), an intimate ceremony under the pergola with chandelier, or a nice inside wedding in front of the grand staircase. I would highly recommend this venue!

This place was absolutely amazing. Amber was my go to person for any questions I had and let me tell you she goes above and beyond. She’s also very personable. The minute I met her she was easy to talk to and get my ideas across and even helped me think of things I had forgotten. On the day of she even helped set up and worked with my wedding planner to make sure things went off without a hitch. The owners of the plantation are also wonderful people to work with. They all made sure my day went off without a hitch and I would recommend this place 100x over for anyone who needs a venue. The atmosphere is not only beautiful but the people are amazing as well.

Burlington Plantation and their staff went above and beyond our expectations for our big day. All of the staff are absolutely wonderful to work with. The venue perfectly fit our needs with every detail thought of. The venue alone is absolutely stunning and perfectly decorated leaving very little needed to be done to make your day look like the perfect Pinterest wedding. Again the staff are absolutely wonderful people. Pam always made herself available to us and made us feel so special like we were her only couple to focus on, when we know that was far from the truth. Betty’s attention to detail shows in every room/space in that venue. Amber was the coordinator for our big day and she was so pleasant to work with and once again so attentive and everything we needed to make our day run smoothly. We are so blessed to have had this beautiful property and such wonderful people helping out to make our day so perfect. It felt like a movie and it couldn’t have happened without them!

They were focused on getting everything just how we had asked and provided ample room and flexibility for us and our friends and family! My husband and I got married at Burlington Plantation 1 month ago today! Wow, time flies! It was our dream day! The venue is stunning and rustic and comfy all in one. We had a wonderful experience with everyone on staff at Burlington. They are friendly, quick to reply and honestly felt like family after the whole experience was all said and done. I would highly recommend this venue!

Absolutely perfect! This venue gave my daughter and her husband the day and evening of their dreams! The owner and staff at Burlington Plantation were interested in assuring that all our questions were answered quickly and they made us feel very special. They always were kind, fun, and extremely knowledgeable. They bent over backwards to let the couple (and us parents) be assured that everything would be spectacular on the wedding day. The bride and her bridesmaids used the bridal cottage and it made for lots of happy hours of getting ready and picture-taking. There was so much room and everything that was needed was there - a modern kitchen area, three bathrooms, an incredible hair-styling room, and lots of space to sit and relax. The historic plantation house was charming and the outdoor amenities and views were remarkable. The barn/ballroom was breath-taking and the perfect place to eat dinner, mingle, and dance. We had 270 guests and there was plenty of room for all. It was romantic with much rustic charm and elegance. All of us were thrilled to have had the wedding at Burlington Plantation- perfect day and perfect memories to last a lifetime!!

All I can say is this is the most beautiful wedding site we could have selected for our daughter’s wedding. The staff was over the top accommodating to our daughter’s every wish. We used the indoors for the ceremony and then for the seated dinner reception and while our vendors flipped the event, our guests had an hour of cocktails and congregating in the glorious outdoors. The landscaping is breath taking and the attention to detail that the owners have applied to their venue is more than you can imagine. The wedding party used the bride and groom suites to get ready for the day and all the amenities we needed were right at our finger tips. The photo options for the videographer and photographer were unlimited. Lastly, the barn is just magnificent! The ceiling beams and rod iron architecture makes a warm yet elegant ambiance for any wedding. Our entire wedding party and guests said it was the most fun “wedding” they had ever attended. Thank you Burlington Plantation for making this day magical for all of us. Well done!!!!!

We absolutely loved our November wedding at Burlington! The bridal cottage is perfect for getting ready and we stayed the whole weekend. The reception hall is amazing! You barely need decorations because it’s already so beautiful. The prices are a little higher but Betty, her husband, Pam, and their team were very helpful and answered all of our questions. The guest loved the venue as well!

Absolutely Spectacular! Our Son & his wife were married here last weekend! The venue is absolutely spectacular! It is so beautiful! Therefore, it truly requires very little additional decor! The staff is absolutely amazing! Betty, Pam, and Madison gave us their undivided attention and were available at a moments notice. They offer suggestions. They have so many extra amenities and share many of their decor generously for the reception hall! The ladies attention to detail is superb! The grooms suite and bridal suite are a must! The pictures made throughout the property are out of this world! Our expectation were beyond exceeded! Believe me when I say...your look for a wedding venue is over! Amazing, just amazing, from start to finish. the owners, staff, the guest houses, the Stables, all perfection. There is a kitchen on site, Lap blankets for cooler days during the outdoor ceremony, outdoor trellis, signs to personalize for your use. The property is designed for ease of entertaining and ideal props for unique wedding photos. Gorgeous bar, tables and chairs are on site. Don't forget to make use of the ice house. Our wedding at Burlington was truly an awesome experience! The owners, Bruce and Betty, are great to work with and we couldn't have asked for a better experience all around. The venue is beautiful and all of our guests were just buzzing about how nice and wonderful the entire event was. Their staff is also very helpful and great to work with as well. We had not one single issue with anything here. We highly recommend Burlington Plantation! My husband and I got married at Burlington on 6/9/18. To say that the day was PERFECT is an understatement. From the Bridal Cottage where I got ready with my maids, to the field that was a perfect backdrop for our ceremony, to the Ice House that made a perfect happy hour location, to the Stables where the reception was held, everything flowed seamlessly. One of the best features of this venue is that you have it to yourself. It's an intimate setting and you truly feel that your wedding is special. From the moment we booked the venue, the owner and director worked with me personally to ensure that my "wedding day vision" came true and that the big day would flow smoothly. I was made to feel special, important and that my dream wedding would become a reality. Thank you Burlington for providing me a day that we will never forget!
