About this vendor
Originally built in 1732, the Burr Mansion was home to Thaddeus and Eunice Burr during the American Revolution. Over the years, the Burrs hosted famous guests such as Aaron Burr, Sam Adams, President George Washington, and John Adams. John Hancock married Dorothy Quincy at the mansion in 1775. In 1779, the mansion burnt down during the Burning of Fairfield. John Hancock insisted the Burrs rebuild their home, and it was completed in 1790. The Burr family held the property from the 1600s until the mid-1800s. It was then renovated in the 1800s. In 1962, the Burr Homestead became a Town of Fairfield property and is now managed by Parks and Recreation.
Today, the Burr Mansion stands at 739 Old Post Road in the heart of Fairfield’s historic district and is available to host a variety of events. Whether a summer garden wedding, a birthday celebration, an elegant gala, a corporate fundraiser, or a Bat/Bar Mitzvah, the Burr is the perfect venue for any occasion. It is one of the few venues in Fairfield County with an outdoor tent that can hold up to 200 guests. No matter the occasion, celebrate with us!

My husband and I were married this past weekend at the Burr Homestead. From the first time we visited the grounds, we were blown away by the beauty and charm of the mansion itself, ceremony area, and reception tent. The venue feels extremely private and elegant, while being a very reasonable price. Our guests gave so many compliments on the uniqueness of the area. Allison, the manager, was friendly, knowledgeable, and organized from our first meeting to our last. She went out of her way to recommend and coordinate with vendors, and truly make us feel supported on our day. Additionally, her support staff kept things running smoothly on the day of not only for us but for our guests. We are so grateful to have celebrated our marriage with an amazing venue and even more amazing staff.
We had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Burr Homestead and it was a dream come true. The gardens, house and tent were a perfect setting for our summer wedding. Allison was wonderful to us throughout all the planning and on the day. When Cassidy took over, we knew we were in good hands. It truly was a perfect day!
Allison was amazing to work with!! Having the perfect location of the garden in back with the tent was wonderful! We wanted to get married outside and with a beautiful sunny day, we couldn’t have asked for a more picture perfect place. The vision we had for our wedding was truly upheld with the help of this amazing staff. The attentiveness to detail and just the amazing charm the Burr has made our day truly special.
We had our wedding at the Burr Mansion on May 6 and it was truly the perfect venue. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about the charm of the mansion and gorgeous grounds. I’d grown up coming to the Burr for events & parties so it was really special to use the space for our day. We used the front lawn for our cocktail hour and had dinner and dancing in the tent out back, which perfectly fit more than 180 guests. Allison and her team are fantastic - responsive, flexible and attentive - and they provided vendor recommendations to us to ensure we were working with the best team across the board. The price is also incredibly reasonable for a venue rental. We are so grateful to Allison and highly recommend the Burr for a gorgeous setting for a wedding or event.
Allison was SO helpful and kind, and very flexible with whatever we requested. The Mansion looked beautiful and was exactly what we had hoped for. The price was VERY reasonable considering the catering is done elsewhere, but the recommendations they provide when you book were spot on and super helpful. The parking is a little confusing at first so make sure to explain it on your wedding website or whatever you use, but the tent for us was perfectly heated thanks to our caterer and Abby's tent rentals, even for mid November. We lucked out with a great day, but it would have been incredible regardless. The hotel situation is a little tough if you have a lot of out of town guests, since the options are mostly an expensive 5-star hotel or little motels nearby. I would recommend an airbnb for your wedding party to get ready at since the motel rooms aren't very big, unless you're willing to spend the money for the 5-star. Still worth it! Plus you're right near the downtown Fairfield area for rehearsal dinner/after party. Perfect!
Perfect place for a garden ceremony and outdoor wedding with complete protection from the rain. Alison is so easy to work with. You can use any vendors you want so it allows for completely flexibility and a range of budgets. The grounds and inside of the mansion are beautiful, and wedding party has access to rooms upstairs to get ready. We are from out of town but the local guests didn’t even know such a beautiful place existed. A hidden gem right in the middle of town and minutes from beach and hotels. No air conditioning but there is a fan in the tent and I think there is a way to rent A/C if it is very hot.
I got married in June at Burr Mansion and I could not have had a more magical wedding! The team at Burr Mansion was SO helpful throughout the whole process, especially throughout the pandemic! When I first visited the venue with my now-husband, we loved the venue so much that even if it rained on our wedding day, we felt good about being indoors because the house has the most amazing historical charm to it. Another huge bonus of getting married at Burr Mansion was that we also used the property to have the wedding ceremony in the back garden! It made the day run so smoothly for everyone being in one place and gave us more time to enjoy everything. The front porch with the big white pillars was the perfect spot for our live music to play during the front yard cocktail hour and loved the big tent in the backyard for our reception!! There are also so many rooms inside to get creative with especially upstairs in the bridal suite! I could not recommend this venue enough!!!!!!
My husband and I just got married in May, and oh my was this place gorgeous. The flowers were in full bloom, the lawn was well kept, and everything was clean. The manager was incredible and made it easy to keep track of everything. The staff showed up on time to unlock the Mansion and stayed for the duration of the wedding. The natural beauty of the Burr made decorating easy and created plenty of photo opportunities. The Burr Mansion was well worth the drive and is located in an area with plenty to do. There were several hotels, restaurants, and shopping areas close by to accommodate guests as well. The Burr Mansion and all of its staff were key in making our wedding day perfect!
I had a great wedding at the Burr Mansion. The venue is so beautiful and full of history it's hard not to love it. There's a few hidden fees which is my only complaint, but when the wedding was over I felt it was well worth it.
Absolutely perfect formal gardens/ parklike setting. We had our ceremony in the gardens as well. The inside of the mansion is gorgeous and was nice to have incase we had bad weather for our tented reception.;There isn't an event coordinator there. It is more do it yourself. Which is nice for people who want everything done there way like me.
