Experience:
Vince was inspired at age 7 to make Christmas centerpieces for his family out of fresh pine branches from his yard... that began his love of floral design. 8 years later he began working in a greenhouse and as a floral assistant, then received a BS Degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley College with a focus on floral design.
1980 was the beginning of Butera The Florist, with a vision of bringing floral artistry to his hometown of York, PA. Now some four decades later, that God given talent and passion still exudes. Vince is a nationally known floral designer and speaker who has been awarded membership in American Academy of Floriculture, American Institute of Floral Designers and Professional Floral Communicators International.
He and Carolyn, his wife of 44 years, fulfilled their dream of living in Downeast Maine and moved their home and business from Pennsylvania to the Blue Hill Peninsula of Maine in 2021.

arvest theme because his favorite color is orange, and his parents have a farm. When we met with Vince, we discussed our theme and we showed him some pictures of arrangements we liked. On our wedding day when we saw all arrangements, we were blown away! The arrangements on the tables, on the alter, and our bouquets were so much more than I envisioned! I wish they would last forever because they were just beautiful! We have gotten so many compliments on how beautiful all the flowers were and how colorful they were. Since we went with a fall/harvest theme, we wanted to have some wheat in some of the arrangements as well. We got some wheat from my husband’s parent’s farm and Vince was able to incorporate the wheat into the table arrangements and alter flowers. Vince truly has a gift! When Vince arrived at our wedding venue, I was so excited. He felt like a family member coming to wish us well on our big day. And the flowers were absolutely stunning. I teared up seeing my vision come to life much better than I could have imagined. From the aisle flowers to the altar arrangement, the car adornment to my bridal bouquet, every item was stunning.

rstanding how the flowers would work with the rest of our overall look. The flowers at the church and reception site looked beautiful and Mr. Butera brought the bridal party and mothers their bouquets and corsages before the ceremony to show how to hold them/help pin them correctly. There were only two downfalls to this service. One was that the flowers for our grandparents were placed in the back of the church, but we were not aware of this. As a result, the grandparents did not receive their flowers prior to the ceremony because we could not find them. The other negative, not really Butera's fault, is that he was being filmed for a TV show on the day of our wedding and we found the camera man for the show to be very rude to the bridal party. He was very much in the way of some special moments before the ceremony and was very pushy about getting paperwork signed. He seemed to have no regard for the fact that this was someone's wedding day and we found his mannerisms unprofessional. Again, this does not really reflect on Butera as he was 100% professional from start to finish. We were fortunate to have him as our florist.
