Buttercream Bakeshop was so easy to work with and made the most exceptional cake for our wedding. We selected flavors not on their usual menu that they were happy to make, and it was flawless and just so delicious -- super moist and full of flavor. We heard about how good the cake was from several of our guests. We selected a simple white buttercream, as our florist was adding flowers and fruit to decorate the cake, but even the simple design was professional and flawless. The team was so easy to communicate with, book, and finish all the details with. We had friends kindly pick up the cake, and they made the process so easy. Take it from us, you do not need to order enough servings for your entire wedding party -- we had a ton leftover -- and I was not disappointed to get to take home extra delicious cake.

I absolutely loved the service and the cake-sampling experience. They were responsive and easy to work with, and flexible with us when we couldn't decide which of the yummy cake flavor to go with (we wound up getting both flavors). It was also stunning to look at.

Buttercream was one of the first vendors we booked. Fully believing that one of the reasons people even go to weddings is *for the cake* we knew we had to find the best DC had to offer. From their tasting boxes to their booking platform to their expert advice, there’s no doubt that Buttercream knows what they’re doing. But more importantly, their cake is good. The icing is sweet but not too sweet, their flavors are refined and the cake itself is perfect. We didn’t even bother with saving the top of the cake for our first anniversary – just dove right into the leftovers :)

Buttercream bakeshop is amazing!!! We had such a hard time picking our flavors during the tasting because they were all so yummy. We ended up going with two flavors, since we had a larger guest count - one was almond cake, blueberry jam, and cream cheese frosting, and the other was vanilla cake, passionfruit curd, and coconut milk frosting. They were both phenomenal and received rave reviews from our guests! Our only regret was that we cut the cake right before the dance floor opened up and we were having such a fun time dancing that not everyone had a chance to eat their piece! But would 10/10 recommend Buttercream Bakeshop for any special (or ordinary) occasions where you want tasty cake & a beautiful presentation! The staff are super friendly, very responsive and creative, and were a pleasure to work with from start to finish!

The cake was delicious! We had to due a carryout tasting on our own due to COVID-19, but as soon as we tried a few flavors we knew had the right bakery. The cake was moist and delicious and they let us choose two different flavors for a 3 tiered cake. Communication with Buttercream was very straightforward and they were quick to respond and helpful!

Our wedding planner found this bake shop—the cake was delicious and unique (lemon elderflower!) We would definitely recommend their services to anyone!

These cream puffs were THE HIT for our small backyard wedding reception! We had a cake (not provided by Buttercream), but, it was overshadowed by these delicious puffs. Everyone asked where we got them, and kept going back to get more or try to choose one with a different flavor (we had mocha and vanilla, and the icy had gold flecks. A lovely upscale touch!). These are unlike anything I've had from anywhere else - just absolute perfection. Having something fancy and unexpected like this really made our unconventional wedding feel a little more special. I even had a friend sneak several into my car so I would be sure to have a few as we drove away (because you can be sure that there were no leftovers!) Thank you Buttercream!

Their cakes are delicious on top of looking great! It was perfect for our wedding.

My review can be summed up in the words of my guests --- "This is the BEST cake I've ever eaten!" ...Buttercream helpfully stepped in to make a surprise groom's cake for me when my wedding venue's pastry chef couldn't. A custom sheet cake featuring my now husband's black and yellow Mustang! The ordering and pick up process was seamless, the pricing fair and honest, and the cake, well, absolutely delicious, even at the end of a full day eating tons of wedding food! Will be using Buttercream for many events to come.

We had a wonderful experience booking our wedding cake through Buttercream Bakeshop. The cake was delicious and the bakery did an amazing job helping bring our cake vision to life. I absolutely love their designs and couldn't have been happier with our gold leaf cake. The tasting was also lots of fun. We chose a combination of s'mores and funfetti flavors and our guests couldn't stop raving. The only downside to our experience was when I accidentally left our leftover cake behind at hotel. I would definitely recommend Buttercream!

Buttercream's wedding cake was included with our catering package at The Line and we're so thankful for it! The team was so easy to work with and tasting everything was so fun. We're thankful that we were able to pick two flavors so that we didn't have to pick just one. We really appreciated how organized the Buttercream team was with making modifications as we narrowed down our guest count and that they worked with the venue to provide us with a cake stand. AND! They saved a mini cake for my husband and I to enjoy after the wedding - such a nice surprise!

I live in DC, so I’ve been aware of the magic of Buttercream for years now. I originally hired another baker to make my cake and other goodies (I was originally doing a dessert bar) - the baker completely flakes and left me with a bad feeling, so I turned to Buttercream. They were a DREAM to work with. I waffled a bit on if I wanted a dessert bar or cake, and they never told me how annoying I was (I’m sure it was VERY annoying). I ended up going with a small two tier cake and their sheet cake for guests. It was a great decision- guests RAVED about the cake (carrot cake with cream cheese buttercream). It also was gorgeous and to be honest, i was pleasantly surprised at how big my two tier cutting cake was! We didn’t eat it all at the wedding, and due to the messages we kept getting about the cake, had a party the weekend after the wedding so we could serve the rest of it! Buttercream’s prices are very competitive. You 100% get your money’s worth from them! My only word of caution is that when we did our cake tasting, we did it to take home. They made us cupcakes and they were horribly dry. Luckily, I had had Buttercream several times and knew this was a fluke. So, if this is your experience with tasting, just know your cake will be perfect!

This will be one of the easiest wedding vendor reviews I write. Buttercream was just great. They were great to work with; very prompt to respond to our questions. The cake showed up to the venue on time without any issues. The cake was stunning and they worked with us to match the color of the frosting to our wedding colors. Not only was the cake visually a highlight of the wedding, it was also the best tasting dessert that we offered. Oh, we also splurged on the Buttercream whoopie pies. Make sure you consider these delectable treats for your wedding as well. They looked great and are also delicious. The only problem we had with Buttercream is that we didn't order enough. :)

I love Buttercream Bakeshop! I had been there before so I knew the cake would be delicious. I ordered the peek-a-boo devils food cake for my wedding and had my father-in-law pick it up the day of the wedding. Everything was on time, beautiful, and delicious. Thank you!

Our cake was amazing and made it perfectly through a car ride to Myrtle beach ! We could not have asked for a better tasting cake for our big day ... also just gonna say the tasting portion of the planning was one of the greatest dessert moments in my life

The tasting at Buttercream Bakeshop was my favorite part of wedding planning!! The flavors and treats were all so delicious! We decided on the almond and Earl Grey flavors for a two-tiered cake, and both were big hits among our guests. Tiffany was great to work with and she created a beautiful cake just like we'd discussed!

The 2 star rating is reflective of the poor service on the day of delivery. The delivery team unloaded the wrong cake and it took 30 minutes of arguing to get the correct cake. The cakes were not similar. This is inexcusable, for a company that specializes in wedding cakes and their delivery. The cake was moist once delivered. Unfortunately, the headache of arguing with their team is not worth it.

Buttercream Bakery made the most fantastic cake for my wedding! I was inspired by a Pinterest image of a cake with an intricate gold foil map that they were able to recreate impeccably. The cake was also the tastiest wedding cake I’ve ever had, bias aside. Many of my wedding guests said the same. The communication with the bakery was always timely and the staff were super friendly. I would recommend Buttercream for any occasion!

Buttercream Bakeshio was the provided vendor through the wedding venue and was not disappointing at all. They understand the vision easily and they give you a rendering of the design requested. They have many flavor options and can accommodate other options as well. Everything tasted great and looked great the day if the wedding! Thank you!!

Hands down the best tasting cake! We thouroughly enjoyed our tasting and settled on an almond cake with raspberry jam and chamboard buttercream. We got a lot of compliments from guests! Tiffany was wonderful to work with—she was so creative and helpful. We would highly recommend Buttercream Bakeshop!

We had a Simpsons-themed cake, and Tiffany worked with us to make it AMAZING! We got so many comments about how it was the most awesome wedding cake people had ever seen. Working with Tiffany and the Buttercream team was an absolute dream!

Buttercream did an excellent job as our baker. Starting with the amazing tasting to the beautiful final product, they were a breeze to work with and gave us exactly what we wanted. We requested a specific piping design for one of our layers that we had seen in a magazine, and Buttercream did a wonderful job emulating it. We also loved the flavors that we chose, as did all of our guests! We got many compliments from guests regarding both the look and taste of our cake. Buttercream made our vision a reality and we would recommend them highly. (And their birthday cakes are also excellent!)

We ordered a macaron tower for our wedding and it was just beautiful. Our guests loved it!

I want to be clear that their cakes are beautiful and taste amazing but their customer service is absolutely terrible. We contacted Buttercream to make our wedding cake. They insisted on communicating strictly via email on Honeybook. There were times that I would go 2 weeks waiting for a response. I had to call the shop just to get someone to respond to my email. When they would respond I was told "we were waiting for you to send us the colors" or something along those lines although I was never asked for them. I contacted the shop to cancel my contract due to the lack of customer service. I told them if they were in a busy season I would gladly wait until the following month to sit down with someone but I just wanted to know if I was e-mailing the right place or doing something wrong on my end. The manager apologized and insisted he meet with us personally. When we arrived they acted shocked to see us as if they had forgotten our appointment, gave us someone else's cake tasting, then rushed us out AFTER making us waiting almost 45 minutes to be seen again after receiving the wrong tasting. To top it off, they charged my card twice for the cake tasting. The manager promised to have an updated cake proposal to us by the end of the day or the following morning at the latest. That was a month ago and we have not heard a single thing. We are trying to give them over $1,000 but feel like we have to badger them just to receive a contract. The fact that they are this forgetful and unprofessional worries me that they will forget our wedding day entirely. We decided to go to Charm City Cakes instead and they were beyond professional, sketched our cake out perfectly in seconds and had the contract to us within 3 minutes of leaving. Charm City was also more affordable and does not charge sales tax. Definitely check out Buttercream for immediate pastries but I would pass on important events. I read reviews on Yelp from people trying to design their wedding cake and they had similar experiences. I had anticipated the experience of designing our wedding cake to be one of the more enjoyable aspects of wedding planning and it was by far the worst part with Buttercream.

When planning my wedding I knew that I wanted a naked cake and I knew I wanted something delicious! Well let me tell you, not only did Tiffany, from Buttercream Bakeshop, create the most simple, yet elegant wedding cake but she gave me great advice on the serving amount! I knew I did not want a cake to add up to exactly the number guest attending because there are a lot of guest that do not even eat cake. So we came up with a solution that made both the bride and the groom happy! We had three wedding cakes, one large, three tier cake and two small cakes! When we went for the tasting I knew it was going to be difficult because the groom is a little picky with cakes. I tried their carrot cake first and I almost died! It was so delicious but of course the groom does not like carrot cake so we to compromised and we ordered the two small carrot cakes and the main cake was a Almond cake, with raspberry filing and buttercream frosting. The cake was absolutely delicious and beyond beautiful, thank you Tiffiany our guest were gushing on how delicious and gorgeous the cakes were!
