We provide the most delicious and unique flavors of cakes, cupcakes and desserts while using natural and seasonal ingredients. We are a scratch bakery and make our own frosting, cakes and most of our toppings. Our ingredients are at least 50% organic, seasonal when possible, locally sourced when possible including from our own farm. We only use naturally derived flavors and colors so when something is raspberry flavored it is also raspberry colored and is made from raspberries. Beginning with Jan's Cakes and Buttercup Cakes Cofounder, Jan Wilson, our bakery has evolved from a small woman owned wedding cake business into a local storefront dessert bakery in downtown Santa Cruz and now to a post Covid, small crew dessert service. In these multiple forms, Buttercup has provided desserts for thousands of celebrants in and around Santa Cruz County.
