About this vendor
Tucked into the northern Berkshires, Buxton sits on 114 acres of wide-open fields, wooded trails, and mountain views. It is a space that feels both expansive and intimate. Originally built as a summer estate and transformed into a progressive boarding school in the 1930s, the campus still carries that energy: thoughtful, welcoming, rich in history and creativity.
You can host a one-day celebration or take over the whole campus for the weekend. Walk from ceremony to cocktail hour, share meals under the stars, stay up late dancing, and meet friends and family again for breakfast -- no shuttles or Ubers needed. There is room for up to 70 guests to stay overnight in dorm-style accommodations, and plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces to make your celebration feel personal and unique.
Our event season runs during the summer months from June through August, with limited one-day availability at other times of the year, depending on the school calendar. Buxton is not your typical venue, and that is precisely what makes it magical. We provide the canvas. You bring the vision.

eremony, cocktail hour, and reception to our liking. We had the run of the campus for the weekend and in the days leading up to our wedding, which gave us plenty of time to get everything set up. Though we brought in several outside vendors, Buxton's own Chef Heather Mumford was an amazing asset and resource in planning many facets of the event. She provided a seasonal and delicious feast that was as much a pleasure to look at as it was to eat! Our guests enjoyed staying in the dorms and it was great to give people an affordable option for accommodation. The grounds were well kept and looked beautiful. This is not a cookie-cutter wedding venue; it is something quite special!

venue! We were able to use all of the dorm rooms on campus for our guests, and they loved that they didn't have to rent expensive airbnbs or coordinate transportation. The available housing on campus allowed our guests to enjoy the weekend by being fully present. We also loved that we could use so much space to spread out our events. From a frisbee game and our reception on the fields to a dinner in the main house, drinks on the patio, and a ceremony in the gardens, we were able to spread the weekend out and take full advantage of this gorgeous place.
Most importantly, we felt really supported by everyone that worked with us from Buxton. Suzy, our day-of coordinator was incredible. When decisions needed to be made and plans changed at the last minute, Suzy stepped up to make it all happen. We are so grateful. We certainly learned a few things about planning a large party along the way (we didn't consider bathrooms or the power supply to the tent until late in the process), and the staff was helpful in improvising and supporting out needs all the way up to and through our wedding day. Buxton deserves our highest recommendation.
