So when we said we loved the architecture of the venue he really worked to involve that in our couple and wedding party shots. And when we said candids of our guests were more important to us - he absolutely delivered! We are also so glad we went for the package with the second photographer as it meant extra coverage of the event and the guests and the two photography styles were very similar. Asa then took the time to format his select shots (which really are some of our favorites!) and has been very open and helpful after the event in formatting any other shots we want blown up to print for the album. messages to establish he was free for our date, we met in person and decided to book. Asa was very responsive working with our Coordinator to make sure we had all the coverage we were looking for. On the day of the wedding Asa and his second photographer (Kyle I think) arrive on time and ready to capture the day. This may sound silly, but I've been to dozens of weddings where the photographers are kind of under dressed... I know they are working and they aren't guests, but I was pleasantly surprised that he arrived in a suit and blended in seamlessly to the formal, black-tie optional wedding. Asa made sure he knew all the important people on the day of the wedding, was like my shadow the entire time capturing every hug and kiss. Since it rained, he was flexible and we made a last minute call to change our photo location which worked out perfectly. Then on the way back to our reception venue, we happened to drive by the spot where we got engaged a year previously, and without skipping a beat Asa jumped out of the car and we took a few more photos at that spot. His photos turned out wonderfully, and everyone has given me complements on them. We literally have THOUSANDS of photos, and every time I see them it's like reliving the day. My suggestions to others who (like I) have never done this before is to make a very clear list of everyone you want a photo with on that day. Give it to someone who knows all the people and make it their job to wrangle everyone. Your head will be spinning that day, so make sure someone is in charge of that. Also keep in mind that your photographer will track you.. if you plan on being on the dance floor all night, you photos will be of the dance floor. If you want pictures of those who aren't dancing, make sure to ask your photographer to take those pictures also. Asa was very responsive in taking impromptu shots with anyone we pulled in front of him. As for turn around, Asa's timing was exceptional. My friends were shocked to see photos from Asa popping up on Instagram just a day or two after the wedding. A few weeks later (I can't remember exactly) we received all the photos on USB in the mail.

Not knowing the area was nerve wracking but knowing Asa's experience and high recommendation put our minds at ease. On the day of the wedding he came to our hotel and captured all the small moments of getting ready! Little moments I did not even know he was capturing that when we received our photos later it was so special to see :) I am truly thankful for this. When we arrived at the wedding site, he helped coordinate our group pictures easily and served as a guide to the area for us out of towners! After the ceremony he took my new hubby and I around the National Mall and took some of the most beautiful photos I could have ever imagined. We got to do some mini sight seeing as a new couple and this was a very special time for us. I'll also note that as a same-sex couple, it's really comforting to talk to a vendor and know that we're immediately accepted and treated like any other couple. After we officially hired him, Asa continued to be just as kind and accommodating throughout the year leading up to the wedding day, and made sure to prompt us with things that needed doing (payment, list of groupings, etc.), because we obviously had a lot going on and would have forgotten. On the day of the wedding, Asa arrived early and ready to go. He asked both me and my at-the-time-fiancée if there was anything we wanted him to photograph ahead of time, before he started on his own. We loved that. Asa made a huge impact on everyone at the wedding - EVERYONE loved him. 8 months later, people STILL talk to us about our "awesome ninja photographer." Yes, ninja photographer. Asa got over 2,000 shots (way more than he initially quoted us at, which we were thrilled about) - and he did so while hardly being seen. He got some really amazing moments, both candid and otherwise, before the wedding, during the ceremony, and at the reception. We booked him for 8 hours so he could photograph us both getting ready, get the entirety of the ceremony, and have him there until just after the cake was cut. Asa got right to it during the dreaded posed pictures - you know, when you have to wrangle both your families and friends and keep everyone on track so you don't waste time. He got through the pictures in great timing, and then when it was time for portraits of my wife and me, he literally ran around, in his suit, with all of his camera gear, through fields of brush, to get the absolute perfect shots. And now that we have the pictures, I can confirm that it was well worth it, because they are stunning. Right at the end of his time, Asa came up to me and my new wife to let us know he was wrapping up and if there were any final shots he wanted us to get, which we actually did. He made himself available to us throughout the day and evening, and we could not possibly be more thrilled with our decision to go with Asa. A couple weeks after the wedding, Asa gave us a sneak preview of some of his favorite shots, and they were breathtaking. A few weeks after that, he sent us a flash drive with well over 2,000 photos - and he edited more than he said he would, which was lovely. Now, 8 months later, my wife and I became homeowners for the first time. We're making a collage of photo frames, and realized the 4x6 sizing of our wedding pictures weren't going to work. We reached out to Asa and he answered immediately saying that he'd reformat them for us, no problem. He's reliable, he's professional, he's remarkably talented, and he's so, so kind. If you want your wedding captured in the best way possible, I urge you to go with Asa. We'll certainly be coming back to him in the future, and will refer everyone we know to him.
