food at the cocktail hour, including lots of passed seafood (no up charge for scallops and lobster!). We had four dinner options plus a kids meal, and everyone was happy (even the vegans!). We had a fall wedding, and they added a hot apple cider bar for us that our guests loved, and they brought out Tupperware for guests to take home leftover cookies which made my mom happy. They also ran around town the night before the wedding to replace a mirror that a different vendor accidentally broke and packed 2 entire meals, cookies, and appetizers for the married couple to take to the hotel that night.

I loved that so much was included or could be added to the package which made planning easier for us (glassware, dinnerware, linens and even cocktail tables). I was also surprised when they were able to cater our wedding in Chestertown, MD located about an hour from their restaurant. The tasting experience was the best, the service, the abundance of food, and having our tasting in the private wine room was so fun, we left so excited for our wedding day and knew our guests were going to be so pleased! Even with a change in their event manager just a few days before the wedding, everything was flawless and absolutely amazing and more than we ever expected! Ryan German, Cafe Gelato’s owner, was even there to make sure everything went smoothly- our wedding was small, only 50 guests, so we were really honored that he came to oversee the day- it is just a testament to the excellent customer service Ryan has cultivated among his team. There was a huge team there on our wedding day, multiple servers, multiple bartenders, a large kitchen staff, and every single team member was so helpful and courteous- one bartender ensured our dog had plenty of water which we thought was very thoughtful and above/beyond! The bar and cocktail hors d’oeuvre display were beautiful, breathtaking, so classy, and Cafe Gelato brought all of the beautiful platters and displays. And last but certain not least, the food! Amazing! Everyone loved it!! There was so much food and all of it was so delicious! We opted for the gelato and cookies instead of a wedding cake and it was an excellent choice, our guests really enjoyed it! What we also love is that we can visit the restaurant and relive some of the wedding dishes and even see some of our favorite servers who were at our wedding! When we first decided on our venue, we really had nothing to go on but their recommended vendor list, so we reached out to the 5 or 6 listed caterers to see what options and pricing they may offer. Although there were several fantastic restaurants, Caffe Gelato stood out for the sheer size and selection available at a price point possible for my husband and I. From the very beginning they expressed their flexibility as they wanted to capture the special mood and feel of our individual wedding vision. They even asked what special types of food and drinks they could perfect for us to make our day special. After a wonderful tasting dinner with a few family members, we were set on Caffe Gelato. My husband and I were planning our whole wedding from our new home in San Diego, CA despite our wedding venue being located in Elkton, MD close by to where we met and grew up. Despite our original planner and point of contact moving on from the restaurant, we received 5-star support, communication, and planning from the owner himself, Ryan, and his wonderful staff (Glenda, Morgan, and Leslye). They immediately gave us a call to let us know that they had seamlessly transitioned the plan and had their new coordinator reach out to us to confirm all of our details would be perfect (Leslye is the sweetest and so responsive with any questions you may have). Despite our nerves and the chaos of post pandemic wedding planning, Caffe Gelato delivered a flawless rehearsal dinner for our guests and made our day stress free and beautiful from my catered breakfast the morning of the wedding day, to the final dessert tables. They even had the time to carefully place custom cookies with each of our guests at their place setting with only a days notice of final table arrangements. I could not recommend Ryan, Glenda, Morgan, Leslye, and the rest of Caffe Gelato more for any couples looking to make sure their day is both stress free and delicious. Ryan was able to make our wedding, and he might have been the best dressed guest at the venue. He and his staff were lightning quick to attend to any needs we had and made the venue look stunning. s like stereo. I wasn’t expecting much because usually food like this is over cooked with sad, limp vegetables and tough, stringy meat. Think rubbery, dry chicken breasts in a slimy white sauce or dried out beef drowning in an over salted au jus. Salads are usually not much better, even if pale, nutrition less iceberg is missing. The greens are usually damp with large pieces of vegetables to plop on the salad. Whew. Now to the point. Let me start with the salad. Never have I had a better salad, anywhere. The greens were beautifully and properly dry. The first unusual condiment I saw was thin shaved slices of almonds, sautéed till just browned to bring the flavor out. The balsamic dressing was robust and syrupy, obviously not from a commercial brand. The vegetables were roasted, still crisp, and probably very slightly underdone, to prepare them for their long shift in the bins. I had the chicken piccata. In Gelato’s able hands the pasta was al dente, tasted homemade, with a lovely subtle sauce, studded with capers. Another first. I have NEVER been to a buffet luncheon of this type where the chicken was moist and tender. Gelato’s puts all these other restaurant/catering/buffets to shame. Gelato’s showed me that good food can be achieved under these circumstances, with some intelligent planning and TLC. Gelato’s this was truly a job well done! I will be recommending you to anyone who will listen! 😀👍❤️😋

The day of our wedding, Ryan and his team descended upon Camp Tockwogh and quickly finalized the table details necessary for our dream wedding! The passed appetizers and drinks during our cocktail hour were both delicious and greatly appreciated by ourselves and our guests. Drinks stayed full and bar lines were non-existent. At the reception, Ryan and his team gracefully coordinated our buffet style meal for our 140 guests. Our guests entered to poured champagne, followed by a quick champagne toast by my wife and I to thank our families and guests (a great suggestion by the CG team). The menu included Pan Roasted Chicken, Citrus Seared Salmon, Lump Crab and Shrimp Fettuccine, House Crafted Tortellini, and Roasted Beef Tenderloin as well as amazing sides! Everyone absolutely raved about the quality of the cooking as well as the presentation! Gelato's bartenders did a great job of keeping the drinks flowing and full; Ryan even had a staff member run to a liquor store to refresh our whiskey stash. The entire event was well coordinated, planned with care, and flawlessly executed upon. The high quality management by Caffe Gelato's team put my wife and I at ease and allowed us to enjoy the night with our friends and family!
