xt day knew we wanted to get married at cairnwood. We did a November wedding and it was amazing! One of the things we liked originally was that we were planning on having 50 people which Cairnwood has no minimum required number of guests so it would have been fine. We ended up have 80 people and it didn’t feel empty at all! Everything was set up perfectly! They pay attention to detail and we had someone with us the entire day to ensure it ran smoothly! I would do the wedding all over again at Cairnwood!

ests arrive at Cairnwood! We loved the tent, well lit with the 3 chandeliers, while providing a nice dinner atmosphere. The grand staircase allows for awesome entrance for the bride & groom. The great lobby is an amazing spot for your first dance. The entire venue provides beautiful backdrops for your photos - at any time of year! Clean restrooms (very important). Plenty of restrooms for guests to use between upstairs and downstairs (170 guests). Beautiful bridal suite. Guests loved walking/looking around all of the different rooms and upstairs. We made use of most of the rooms of the estate which was great! Karen Spire Catering provided delicious food - guests loved the meal and apps! The service at both Cairnwood Estate & Karen Spire Catering is wonderful, very courteous and easy to work with! They made the venue booking process easy and were able to accommodate & answer all of our questions throughout the process! I would absolutely recommend Cairnwood Estate to anyone, at any time of year!

The staff (Krissy and Laird) made us feel like this was our house. They were so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them to do. We used the recommended vendors and so glad we did because they knew the house and just blended in with the house staff.

Our guests were all over the house having a wonderful time chatting, dancing, eating and having a merry time. No one left early because everyone was comfortable! Cairnwood allowed us to create little nook and niches for people to chat and party. As bride and groom it was even easy for us to be able to visit with our guests while partying at the same time! I love how Cairnwood let us bring in our own decorations - we put pictures of us all over the house including on mantles, bookshelves, tables etc. It allowed a personal intimate feeling to the space. I cannot recommend Cairnwood enough! We also LOVED our caterer Karen Spire whom Cairnwood recommended. More glowing reviews on her on her own page!! The building was always open for us to visit/drop things off, extremely convenient as we were coming from out of town. We used Karen Spire Catering (one of the preferred vendors), and she was amazing to work with. The food was delicious, guests said it was the best they had ever had at a wedding. They were accommodating to our preferences for menu, dessert choices, and last-minute table changes. Took care of escort/table cards, coordinated day of very smoothly.

that many guests we went with the tented terrace for dinner and were so glad we did. It was absolutely gorgeous. Guests were able to eat dinner under the stars with the clear tent. Cairnwood is such a unique venue- it's reminded us so much of Downtown Abbey with its multiple rooms. Guests could not stop raving about it! We have nothing but good things to say about the venue- it really is worth every penny for an amazing wedding experience.

e estate. There were only a few issues, the price to just rent the estate is hefty and only includes the estate (no chairs). The tent and lighting (string lights outside, etc) are very expensive additions. We opted not to go with the tent and eat indoors. Also, I had a wonderful experience working with Shannon, we booked our wedding with her. However, a few months after booking my in-laws wanted to see the estate, I called mid-week to schedule and appointment, the woman I spoke with said it would be fine for us to walk through and that there would be someone to help us if needed and that she would note that we would be visiting. When we arrived they were surprised that we were there, we felt rushed out of there. I understand there are so many brides who are getting married at Cairnwood and brides planning to get married but they seemed very snooty that day, and left a bad taste in my mouth. --I must add that this is was the only negative experience I had with Cairnwood's staff and that this could have been a fluke, I just wanted to make the point that whether it was lack of communication or a mistake we were unhappy with my in-laws first impression of our venue. Lastly the estate is stunning, however my father was upset that he noticed a stain on an area rug months before and that same stain was on the rug for my wedding. I didn't notice it, but he did and for the price you pay to rent he wasn't thrilled at the idea of having a stained rug. Overall our wedding was the best day ever, guest still talk about how stunning our venue was, this place is truly a gem. I highly recommend this venue, another perk is that there are quite a few local vendors that do an outstanding job, and its a bonus that they are all nearby.

is a blessing and a curse! On one hand, you can truly get exactly what you want/envision without being held only to what's available from a full-service venue like a hotel. On the other hand, finding all of those vendors is a big job :) The Cairnwood team was always extremely helpful and responsive to our questions -- they were a pleasure to work with! There was a Friday night wedding before our Saturday date and the venue was spotless and beautiful when we arrived bright and early at 9 AM. We loved our experience at Cairnwood and you absolutely cannot beat the venue! Our guests raved about how stunningly beautiful the estate was and the bride and groom suites are large, beautiful and the perfect spot to hang out and get ready!

to add them on to your wedding package, but it does add an extra price. Planning the DJ/music can be a little tricky based off of rooms and having enough speakers so I would recommend working with a DJ who has worked Cairnwood before if you go with Cairnwood. We did not add on the tent as a backup plan for rain (which it did rain on our day) so we had dinner inside but no complaints here -- having dinner inside is a great option (I loved dining in the pink room). Melissa is so helpful throughout the process and the staff keeps the grounds looking beautiful always! The only bummer is you cannot have your ceremony here so you need an extra ceremony venue, but if you can swing it it's a wonderful wedding venue. We love Cairnwood!

nwood was so accommodating to our circumstances and we were able to discuss all of our questions via email, and my parents (local to the area) visited again to meet with caterers. It's great that they have the open house Wednesdays - we visited on several occasions and everyone we met was very friendly. The layout of the venue is different than any wedding I've attended before since there are 3 separate dining rooms, but everything flowed so well and that's part of what I loved about the place. We were able to book a date within a year of our engagement and everything fell into place after that. They also offer pre-hours so you can get ready and have your photos done prior to your reception - worked wonderfully! One difficulty was that we had to arrange for our own alcohol to be transported to the venue prior to the event (and had to figure out how much we needed), but Cairnwood provides a list of vendors that can assist you with this. We HIGHLY recommend Cairnwood if you are looking for a magical experience. My one regret is not spending enough time on the balcony area during cocktail hour so make sure you take advantage!

Guests absolutely loved the venue, it was like nothing they've ever seen and we still get compliments on it. The decor for Christmas (we were married in December) was spectacular - we hardly had to bring in any decorations ourselves! We lucked out with the weather and were able to use the beautiful terrace throughout the evening. The bridal and groomsmen suites were the perfect place for the bridal party to get ready as well as to enjoy some drinks throughout the night. It was truly a magical night and would recommend Cairnwood to anyone!

! We each had our own elegant suites to get ready in, with antique furniture and framed photos of the Pitcairn family adorning the walls, romantically taking us back to the Gilded Age. The staff was superb - director Shannon herself is a highly organized, gregarious ball of energy who will go above and beyond to ensure every detail is perfect for your big day. The sculpted, lush grounds and castle-inspired architecture of the mansion provided the perfect backdrop for our formal photos. What was most special was the intimate setting of the Great Hall where our ceremony took place. There I married my prince and we are living happily ever after!

I was a little nervous about the price but after a perfect night and incredible pictures, I couldn't imagine having our wedding anywhere else!

It made me feel like a princess. I would 100% recommend this venue especially if you are looking for a place with character and beauty.

The staff was beyond helpful and polite throughout the entire planning process and tried their best to accommodate all of our requests. Although we had originally planned for a Saturday evening affair, our time frame and previous scheduling pushed us to book a Sunday in August. Even then our wedding was still perfect and we managed to save quite a bit by booking a Sunday. For brides considering a Sunday wedding at Cairnwood- we had not originally planned to have the back veranda tented, but due to a wedding the night before ours where the tent was in use- the tenting company allowed us to keep the tent up free of charge, which given the summer heat was a marvelous addition! (I think this was more a convenience to the company not having to come out first thing in the morning to remove the tent.) The separate dining spaces was also the perfect fit for our guests as we do not like the feel of a traditional ballroom. Instead of staying at their tables if they were not on the dance floor, our guests moved around the estate and the grounds as if it were our own home. We had croquet and other lawn games set up outside, and the veranda, gardens and library were all used as alternative places to mingle. Overall I highly recommend The Cairnwood Estate to anyone in search of a timeless and elegant wedding venue.

the place for her wedding. We we hosted by Melissa and then met the director Shannon. Both women were so helpful, and in no way rushed us into making a decision. They love their facility and it shows in how work with you. That night we met several of the food vendors and our first encounter was with Karen Spires and she ultimately was selected again, because of the way she presented herself being so helpful. Going back to the Cairnwood facility many times was helpful for my daught and now husband to sort out exactly the setup she wanted and to do some things slightly different. I would say aside from the estate itself, we wanted an outdoor wedding and we choose a location taht had been setup for a wedding just inside the main entrance gate aloowing the backdrop to be the museum and the estate itself. Although never been tried beore at Cairnwood our new friends Melissa and Shannon wer so encouraging and helpful and at the end of the day it was spectacular. Being from New Jersey, initially I did not want to go to PA to have this wedding for my daughter. However, not that the events are over, we have receieved so many incredible commnets about everything about the event, we knew we made not only the right choice but the best choice. e. We had both the ceremony and reception here. We had the tent put up, in case in in climate weather, so we could have dinner on the terrace but it turned out we didn't need it because it was a beautiful day. The staff at Cairnwood, Shannon and Melissa, were great and helpful. It was really nice to have this beautiful french style mansion to myself on the biggest day of my life. If I could do it all over again I would in a heartbeat

ith a lovely garden and perfect entrance area for the ceremony, and gorgeous bathrooms (GORGEOUS bathrooms) and plenty of roaming space - and it's historical, not a "wedding" or "conference" spot in spite of its popularity and beauty. The staff and historic community surrounding the chateau jealously guard the site's integrity - in renovations and business. A good friend remarked that there were no mosquitoes. This place is classy. Melissa and Shannon were, of course, fantastic. They answered question after question, some of which I'm sure were repeated as both my Mom and I contacted the ladies during the planning process. They made us feel at ease at every visit - so of course we were comfortable the day of our event! Oh and the pictures don't do it justice. Visit if just to tour the elegantly-bordered rooms, drink in the graceful arches of the opened second story at the hall, stroll the back terrace, and bask in the serenity of the garden and its lovely little fountain! I wax poetic - if you visit, you will, too! We hardly decorated for our event, and I like frilly lacey things. Stylistically, I fit in perfectly at the hardly-decorated venue, and I wore a wedding dress with a tiered lace skirt, buttons, and lots of little details (very elegant and pouffy); I hope you can imagine how lovely the site is with that little tidbit. But really, go visit. They also do community events. I plan to go to my first in a few weeks if I can make it! I've fallen in love. :) Thanks, Shannon and Melissa!

Cairnwood has a huge WOW factor. The staff at Cairnwood is amazing!!! Literally everyone there is so nice, helpful, and accomodating. Melissa and Shannon were always available to answer any questions I had, give suggestions, and support me. Shannon always gave me her honest opinion on vendors and ideas, which I really appreciated. Melissa allowed me to call her and talk through my visons, questions, and concerns. They both spent so much time making sure my wedding was everything I dreamed of...and it was! I had the most magical wedding at Cairnwood. My vendors were perfect, the venue was spectacular, and my guests had so much fun! I can't think of a more amazing place to get married. I'm so glad I got married there and look forward to attending all of the Cairnwood events!

You certainly have the ability to make your wedding INDIVIDUAL! And the staff is amazing! They are not only extremely accessible they are 100 percent hands on I planning your wedding with you with regard to advice, options, ideas, etc. My guests are still emailing me and texting me after other weddings letting me know there's no comparison. Between Cairnwood as our venue and Karen Spire as our caterer we've set the bar high,

It was very easy working with Shannon and Melissa prior to our wedding day, and during the event, Shannon was available on-site if anything was needed. We had nearly 200 guests seated for dinner on the tented patio, with stations set up in the rooms inside. Our ceremony was outside on the front terrace. It was a perfect setup for our size and needs. Just keep in mind the seasonal factors when budgeting for this location - we ended up needing a tent and heaters, which added to the cost of the venue. The evening was a success & we highly recommend this location for anyone looking for a unique, memorable and loving wedding day!

You do have to pay to rent the estate and it can be pretty pricey during prime wedding months but it is just as beautiful of a venue during the off months. We got married there in December :) the staff there is amazing as well, they are always happy and willing to help during any part of the wedding planning process! of additional costs that are in addition to the site fee including: chair rental, tent rental, on-site rehearsal, on-site ceremony cost, pre-hours and any after hours (site fee only covers a 4 hour time period). The staff were very nice, friendly and efficient. The only issue I had the day of the wedding had to do with where exactly we were allowed to take photos on the grounds. I was under the impression that we could use the full grounds as long as we did not go into the other buildings (Cathedral/Museum) but we were chased off the grounds around the Museum area.

s the 1st place we looked at. We went to go see it on a Wednesday, the day of their open house and fell in love immediately! It was out of our price range to get married there on a Saturday, so we got creative in trying to figure out how to make it work and decided to get married on the Wednesday before 4th of July! It was a fraction of the cost and is the same thing as getting married on a Friday because everyone has off the next day! We looked at a bunch of other venues, but nothing else really compared to how unique and beautiful Cairnwood is! All the staff there was AMAZING leading up to the wedding! Everyone was so nice and helpful! It was also extremely helpful that they had open houses every week because I could go there all the time (and I did!) and plan out things for the wedding and meet my other vendors there so they could see the place. It was just an amazing experience working with Cairnwood. On the wedding day, everything was amazing. Cairnwood staff was great and my guests LOVED the place! It is just so different from your typical country club wedding venue. Everyone got to feel special coming there to have a party because this place looks like a freaking castle!! And every time I would show someone a picture of it their first reaction was "wow" and that is exactly what I wanted! Everyone had an amazing time! The only thing is....figuring out how you want to do dinner there. My plan A was to have everyone eat out on the terrace, but it was hot on our wedding day and there was the chance of rain so we didn't want to take the chance so we had everyone eat inside. Your guests will be split up into separate rooms, but that's not really a big deal because 1. dinner isn't that long and 2. people only talk to the people at their table anyways so what's it matter? The other option is to rent the tent they can put up over the terrace, but that is pretty pricey at $3,000 for just a tent. Plus it blocks the beauty of Cairnwood when it is up! They do have a list of preferred caterers that you have to pick from (I think there is about 13 of them), but as long as you pick Karen's Catering you will be extremely happy! Overall, I am beyond glad we picked Cairnwood to have our wedding at because it was so amazing and all of our pictures look AWESOME because there isn't anywhere in the place that makes the background of a picture look bad! The staff was great and everyone loved being in such a cool place! 5 stars!!!!

Shannon Walko, as many of the brides have said, is so much more than a coordinator. Shannon BENT OVER BACKWARD to make sure Alex and I had a great day. She was one guest I was THRILLED could be at my wedding (even if she was on the job!). Shannon personally let us in for the 9000 walk-thoughs we did leading up to the big day, invited me to the Cairnwood book club (which, once we move back to the area, I firmly plan to attend!), gave us helpful tips about storing the drinks beforehand, and made herself always available to happily answer any questions we had, regardless of how ridiculous. We will NEVER forget Shannon or Cairnwood and will definitely be back to visit her for as many Cairnwood events as we can make.

staff is great to work with, though they can be snooty and pushy. I would give this venue 5 stars except for the fact that they limit the number of hours of your event and when you can be in the venue (to get ready) unless you want to pay extra fees (which other venues do not because the hours are included). It can only hold weddings of 170 or fewer, and there is not space for everyone to be in the same room. That did not bother me since my guest count was less than 100, so it was perfect. I would highly recommend Cairnwood to anyone who wants that historic feel of grand staircases, chandeliers, fireplaces and mantles. It was like getting married in a small palace.

The grounds are well-manicured, and the view from the terrace (overlooking the great lawn and Bryn Athyn Cathedral) is a bonus. Just the sight of the mansion from the bottom of the driveway leaves the guest with a strong first impression. Personally, my wife and I took full advantage by spending the entire day here. I put on my tux with the rest of my groomsmen in the groom's suite. We held our ceremony under the archway at the main entrance. Our cocktail hour was indoors in the air conditioning, and then the reception was outdoors on the veranda under a white tent during sunset. I had an amazing experience, but there are some drawbacks to consider. I wasn't impressed with the service. They leave pretty much everything to the caterer, so you will absolutely need a good one who has experience at Cairnwood. It was also expensive, but you do get what you pay for. Also, guests in a large wedding may need to use separate rooms if dining indoors, and the dance floor is in a library/study. Overall though, this place is awesome and highly recommended.

It was quite a buzz kill after such a wonderful event!

My only downside, is that they claim that the estate is "yours" for the day, but there are still hourly stiupulations, and extra costs when you need more time before or after, and that can be quite expensive. We chose an off day/month to ue the estate, and I am so glad we did because the busy months can be outrageously priced, so make sure you can fit it within your budget. Overall, the place is amazing, the staff is awesome, and I am so happy I chose Cairnwood to be the setting for my wedding :)

ff at Cairnwood was very helpful the day of. It was such a different type of place and the different rooms we thought would be a down fall, but turns out it got everyone out of the seats and exploring. People said it was the only wedding where they actually got to talk to people.
