Jo-Anne was absolutely wonderful to work with! She created the most beautiful cake for our wedding on May 3, 2025 — and our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was. Our cake tasting experience was so much fun and super helpful. Jo-Anne guided us through everything and made the whole process enjoyable. We were so happy with the cake we chose — not a single regret! If you're getting married in Chicago, I can’t recommend Cake Chicago enough. You have to check them out for your wedding cake! 10/10 — highly recommend!

Jo-Anne and her team designed and made an absolutely beautiful cake. We had a great consultation with Jo-Anne and she gave us a variety of flavors to choose from. The cake was both gorgeous and delicious. So many of our guests commented on how great the cake was!

Joanne was the best to work with and did an amazing job with our wedding cake! I changed my mind on design after the consultation and she pivoted and executed my vision perfectly!!

JoAnn at CAKE Chicago was a pleasure to work with for our wedding. She walked us through our options and gave us a cute little cake-tasting kit. Then we placed our order and were done! Quick and easy, which allowed us to focus on other vendors. The cake looked and tasted exactly how we wanted.

Jo-Anne and her team designed and put together the perfect cake. Our consulation meeting was super professional and my wife showed her inspiration pictures and immediately Jo-Ane knew which direction to go. She sent us off with a variety of flavors of cake and icing that we picked out so we can craft our cake flavors. Every option was a good option because of how impressive every flavor was. We went with a white cake w/ creme brulee icing, with italian meringue center, and yellow cake w/ cream cheese

Jo-Ann is so great to work with. Love her personality, and she makes really great cakes! We did wedding cake tasting at a bunch of different bakeries in Chicago, and it was not difficult at all to pick out Cake Chicago as our vendor. The sponge was so moist and not over sweet, and the fillings were all so great that we had a hard time picking our final flavor combo. I've lost track of how many guests came up to us in person just to praise the cake on our wedding cake. We recently celebrated our one-year anniversary and enjoyed a lovely anniversary cake from Cake Chicago, and needless to say it was so pretty and tasty and brought back the fond memories of our wedding day. Will recommend 5/5 to any couple that would love a pretty, tasty wedding cake.

Jo-Ann at Cake Chicago was excellent to work with—zero issues with them. The cake and cookies we received from them were DELICIOUS! My favorite food on my wedding day. If you're interested in Chicago and need a baker, she is the one for you.

We cannot recommend Cake Chicago enough. The owner Jo-Anne is an absolute legend. She comes from a background as a food chemist so she really knows how to pair different flavors together. She met with us for an hour and at no point did we feel rushed when going over our options. We ended up going with a combination we never expected for our wedding cake. It was Chocolate w/ Tiramisu filling in the center with a thin layer Italian Meringue AND a Yellow Butter cake w/ Coconut Creme Center thin layer Italian Meringue. It was amazing and we can't wait to eat it again on our anniversary. 10/10 recommend

Jo-Anne made our beautiful wedding cake which not only tasted amazing and included two different flavor combinations (lemon for one slice, salted caramel for another), she incorporated architectural elements of our venue and included trim from my mom's wedding veil (which I also wore)! Absolutely incredibly artistry and experience. Would highly recommend using Cake Chicago for your wedding!

Cake Chicago was amazing to work with! They sent cake samples right to the house for us to try. They have the most delicious strawberry buttercream I have ever had! I only got a bite of our cake at the reception so I ordered more!

We used CAKE for our wedding. They created a beautiful cake design and AMAZING flavors!! Our guests were raving about our delicious almond cake with tiramisu and mocha filling! We can't wait to have it again on our 1 year wedding anniversary :) Thank you Jo-Anne and CAKE!

Yummy and great cake! I don't think the fristing we chose at our trial was used for the sheet cake but it was still delicious!

A friend recommended Cake Sweet Food Chicago for our wedding cake so we made an appointment. Meeting JoAnn was a pleasure. You can see how much she loves what she does as a food scientist, and that it’s definitely appreciated in her cakes. We had so much fun doing the tasting at home (all of the flavor options were absolutely delicious and it was very hard to choose), and then deciding the cake decoration from a beautiful catalog of masterpieces. On August 21st we had a rustic/boho wedding and the cake was the perfect touch. All the guests were amazed with how good the cake was. I highly recommend them if you want your dream wedding cake.

Jo-Anne makes the most GORGEOUS and DECADENT wedding cakes. She created a magical combination of white cake, and chocolate fudge and raspberry conserve filling. During my consultation, she greeted me with a kind and genuine energy. Even more, she knew what cake design best exemplified my wedding ~vibe~ before I did! A three tier cake with classic Jackie-O style with ribbon and pearls. And speaking for my guests, it was a very memorable slice. But, the for most beautiful thing about this whole experience - Jo-Anne reminded me that cake is a food constant. We eat cake to celebrate baptisms, birthdays, graduations, weddings. On my 50th anniversary, I look forward to eating white cake with chocolate fudge and raspberry conserve.

Cake was delicious! I wish we would have had better communication with Joanne about the look of it though but I'm sure she's busy because her cakes are very popular. Our cake was supposed to be decorated with flowers but they were never placed on (not sure if that's the fault of the floral team or the cake team though) so the cake looked pretty plain

Of all the cake tastings we did, Cake Chicago had the best flavors! Jo-Anne is very passionate about her cakes and was great to work with. Our cake for our wedding at the Chicago Botanic Garden turned out amazing and she even gave us an anniversary cake as a bonus! If you want the most delicious flavors on your big day then definitely get your cake from here!

Jo-Anne and her team were super easy to work with! They stayed in touch and were super communicative throughout the tasting and design process. Not to mention, the cake was delicious and I can't wait to have it again for our anniversary!!

I cannot say enough great things about Jo-Anne and the experience we had with Cake Chicago for our wedding. Not only is Jo-Anne incredibly talented and knowledgeable due to years of experience in this field, but she is also a breath of fresh air in the wedding industry. It is truly a pleasure to speak with her and work with her, and you can tell she puts her heart and soul into everything she does. Jo-Anne sent a cake tasting kit all the way to North Carolina (where we live) so we could have the full tasting experience, even when we couldn't get out to Chicago ourselves. Each combo we tried was absolutely delicious but we landed on red velvet cake/cream cheese filling and vanilla cake/salted caramel filling. Our guests RAVED about our cake on our wedding day! I cannot wait to continue to support Jo-Anne and her business in the future. Not only was the cake delicious, but her truffles and other goodies are just as incredible. Jo-Anne at Cake Chicago is great! She made the cake process so enjoyable. The cake tasting box we took home was fun and easy. We meet Jo-Anne to discuss details of our wedding cake and she was so patient and gave such great recommendation. We decided on a yellow buttermilk cake, with coconut cream and raspberry conserve and it was absolutely delicious! Our cake was beautiful decorated and our guests loved the cake! Jo-Anne was recommended to us by our wedding planner, and she is fantastic! She is an amazing baker (who also helped formulate the famous Portillo's Chocolate Cake IYKYK), and a great person. Jo-Anne made the at home tasting process so much fun for us with our little goodie bag kit - so much so that we had trouble actually choosing! We also purchased her signature Chubby Wubbies as favors for our guests, which were a huge hit. Highly recommend working with Jo-Ann for all of your cake needs!

Jo-Anne is not only an absolutely incredible baker, but also just a truly wonderful person. Having an amazing cake was one of the top 3 most important things for our wedding and she definitely did not disappoint! Honestly it was the best cake I think I have ever eaten, even more amazing than the tastings!! We didn’t even know where to start and she walked us through the flavor combinations she thought best fit us personally and our wedding vision, and we ended up choosing the first combination she named! When we saw the cake on our wedding day it was even more beautiful than I pictured, and exactly what we wanted. We even got truffle wedding favors from her because after tasting the cake I knew they would not disappoint and our guests raved about them all weekend! You cannot go wrong with Jo-Anne - she makes the best cake in Chicago!

Jo-Anne was incredible to work with! We decided on a wedding cake just a few weeks before our big day and Jo-Anne created a gorgeous 3 tier cake. It was delicious, the slices were large, and the presentation was beautiful. Jo-Anne is extremely warm and knowledgeable. She even baked us a fresh anniversary cake a couple of weeks after our wedding (we have been eating it everyday since). Totally great experience!

Jo-Anne was amazing to work with for our wedding! Our cake was absolutely stunning on display! She truly brought our vision to life in a way that was even more incredible than we could have imagined! At the tasting we were able to build a truly delicious cake with Jo-Anne's expertise and guidance. The flavor offerings are incredible! We decided ultimately on two flavors of cake and three flavor fillings which wowed everyone, especially the cannoli filling! My husband and I even got to enjoy a slice of cake in the room after the reception that was saved for us--and it was the perfect ending of the night! I cannot recommend Cake Chicago enough we were truly so blown away by the attention to detail, sincerity of Jo-Anne , and the overall deliciousness of the cake!

Jo-Anne is amazingly talented! She can create any cake that you can dream up and the flavours are delicious!!! She grinds her own almonds and extracts her own mint oil! You can not go wrong with Cake sweet food Chicago!

Jo-Anne was fantastic to work with, very personable, and definitely loves making cake! They have a fantastic variety of cakes and filling, definitely not too few and so delicious. The tasting was well worth it and just has a sense of quality beyond the other bakers we tried. She is extremely flexible with combinations of cake and filling and being able to incorporate multiple combinations. We were sold after our tasting. We had a lot of initial questions and she answered all of them without us having to actually ask. After showing the design we were interested in, she was happy to offer suggestions, but definitely didn't pressure us to change anything. We chose a faux cake and had the actual cake sliced ready for serving. They were able to coordinate with our florist to add floral to the faux cake as well. She was able to suggest different options to offset cost. Her and team were definitely on top of everything and we didn't have to worry about the wedding cake at all. They were very responsive in all communications. They were right on schedule the day of our wedding. Cake was recommended by our friends and we are so glad we chose Cake. We had such a blast working with Jo-Anne! Our venue sent us to her as part of our package so we were uncertain about how it would go. But, after meeting her, seeing her creations and trying her AMAZING flavors, we knew it would be fantastic. During our tasting, she took the time to learn about us and our wedding. We didn't have a design in mind so it was great to work with someone who actually wanted to incorporate personalized elements. The cake design was spot on - taking inspiration from all different parts of our wedding but still keeping the design clean. Plus, she was able to incorporate our dogs. Then the cake taste... OMG! it was so hard to decide on flavors but, don't worry, you can't go wrong. So thrilled with having Jo-Anne at Cake as our baker!

We had the BEST experience working with Jo-Anne from CAKE for our wedding! From the very start of the planning process, she was responsive, flexible, and accommodating. As an out of town bride, I had limited availability to meet in person, but she worked hard to adjust her schedule so that I could come in person with my husband and our parents for our cake tasting. We so appreciated this!! We had a blast at the cake tasting – her cakes are absolutely delicious, and she has so many incredible flavor combinations to choose from. One of the things I am most grateful for is Jo-Anne’s willingness and ability to accommodate for those who were gluten free. I (the bride) am gluten free, and we had approx. 15 gluten free guests as well. Without hesitation, Jo-Anne offered to make a separate gluten free sheet cake in a dedicated gluten free baking facility, slice them into individual pieces, wrap/package them, label them, and deliver them to our venue. All of our gluten free guests (myself included) were SO excited to be able to enjoy some wedding cake!! Both the GF and regular wedding cakes were absolutely delicious!!! Without a doubt, we will be recommending Jo-Anne to our friends and family, and will be ordering from her again for other special occasions :)

Jo-Anne blew it out of the park with our cake! We felt so loved, heard and well taken care of by her and her team! She is extremely accommodating for allergies (esp. gluten free) and the flavors/textures of her cakes are absolutely incredible! They make everything in house and the care and consideration that goes into each cake is truly off the charts. The most special thing is that for your one year anniversary they will make you a fresh anniversary cake - no more freezer burnt, year old cake to celebrate one year of marriage! So special!

Jo-Anne knows her stuff. When we went to the tasting she was so organized and made it so fun for us. She walked us through every step and we ended up w a cake I didn’t think we would go with. All of our guests at the wedding loved it and raved about how tasty and moist the cake was (which wedding cakes are usually so dry). We had 273 people at our wedding and had no cake leftover, that explains it all right there.

Working with Cake Chicago was such a breeze! They walked us through the tasting and helped us pick out what we wanted without overwhelming us. They are very creative in their designs and can basically design any cake you want!

You have nothing to worry about with Cake Chicago!! Our guests could not get enough of our cake, it tasted unbelievable, and looked absolutely perfect. We enjoyed our tasting, but it completely blew us away with how delicious and special it turned out. No question that we made the right choice!

Our wedding cake was TO DIE FOR. Jo-Anne and the CAKE team are absolutely amazing and not only do they make fabulous cake they also turn the whole cake choosing process into an incredible experience! The only reason we went with Cake Chicago was because they were included with our package from The Drake. 1. Extremely frustrating to work with. They have inflexible cake tasting times, and when we made the time to go, the main person wasn't even there!! They didn't follow up with us for MONTHS with our sketch, the flavors we picked, and the pricing for additional tiers. It took me, my mom, and my event planner several phone calls and emails for them to finally get back to us (a month before the wedding) 2. The flavors were not anything to write home about. Some of the guests said the frosting just tasted like butter. Some guests did say the lemon flavor was really good. 3. The extra $$ we paid for the design was not at all worth it. The design I had discussed with her assistant was completely different then what we got that day. I was so disappointed that we had paid extra money for a bland looking cake. Overall I was extremely disappointed with the service, the flavor, and the design...all 3 things that are a must have in a cake!!!

We had a great time experimenting with different flavors and combinations. Since our vendor (Chicago Athletic Association) outsources its cake-making, we were a little dubious but wound up very pleased and grateful that they chose Cake Chicago. Would definitely recommend!

Cake Chicago created the most beautiful cake for my wedding day. I was blown away by the simple yet elegant design. They perfectly captured my silver-and-pearl color scheme. Of course, the cake was also delicious. I couldn't recommend a better local Chicago company.

Jo-Anne and the Cake team are AMAZING! As my now husband and I are a little scatter brained when it comes to making decisions, and we are both obsessed with sweets and cakes we knew it was going to be hard to figure out what we wanted. Jo-Anne helped us work though all our crazy ideas and figure out exactly what we wanted. The cake was perfect and beautiful and the flavors were AMAZING.
