. Her signature cake decorations are handmade sugar flowers that last forever. I currently have mine in a vase for decoration in my house and they look really nice. The flavor of our wedding cake was so yummy and we were honestly really excited about the whole process. Additionally, she includes a small cake that she will prepare for our one year anniversary, which I thought was nice because we definitely don't have room in our freezer to store a cake for an entire year. I initially was convinced we would go for one of the popular Pittsburgh bakeries, but we ended up supporting this small business and were so glad we did!

The tasting was a delight, and if anything we ate waaaaay too much while were there, but it was all so incredibly good! Fast forward to the wedding day, everything went off without a hitch and the cake was absolutely gorgeous! She took reference images we provided and went above and beyond, it was elegant without being pretentious and truly lovely on top of being delicious as well. Our guests raved about it too. Can’t recommend Fran and Cakes by Colby enough!!

luten free since I have a gluten allergy. After a lovely cake tasting that was set up for us, we went with the lemon zest with raspberry filling and it was divine. Our most favorite feature, however, is Fran's amazing talent at making sugar flowers. These flowers look so real and truly turn the cake into a work of art. And, if you do not refrigerate the flowers, they will last for years as a keepsake! Lastly, on oue one year wedding anniversary, Fran plans to bake us an anniversary cake as part of the wedding package! My husband and I could not have been happier with our decision to work with Cakes by Colby!

afternoon tea. She was quick to answer any questions we had, and gave us privacy to discuss the different cakes we were sampling. We ended up choosing a lavender lemon cake with raspberry filling. The raspberry filling tasted so refreshing and perfectly complimented the lightness of the lavender lemon. When I told Fran about what kind of flowers I wanted, and how my bridesmaids all had different colored dresses, she was happy to accommodate this. I mailed her dress color swatches and she created BEAUTIFUL flowers that perfectly matched. She sent me a flower previous a few days before the wedding, and even messaged me a few days after the wedding to see how we liked the cake. She had worked with my reception venue before, which made the cake delivery something I didn't even need to think about day of! Fran at Cakes by Colby was simply amazing!

The real testament to Fran's skill was the clean plates that sat in front of our guests. In the end, I would describe Fran's cakes less as reasonably priced and more of an incredible value. My husband and I could not have been happier with the experience - from our personalized tasting, to design pictures along the way and delivering/assembling our cake on our wedding day - Fran was nothing but professional and kind. We cannot recommend her enough and look forward to working with her again in the future!

n August 2020. Of course, with the pandemic, that didn't happen. We ended up pushing our reception back three times until November 2021 and each time, Fran was extremely accommodating. When our reception finally happened, Fran came to set up our cake and just, WOW! Our cake was beautiful! She perfectly matched all of the sugar flower colors to the colors of our centerpieces. It also was a delicious almond wedding cake. We are so thankful that Fran was able to make our wedding cake! We full-heartedly recommend Cakes by Colby to any couple looking for an absolutely stunning wedding cake and also one that is delicious for you and your guests. Thank you Fran for all of your hard and dedicated work towards our cake and making such a beautiful cake!

t the reception I was in love. It was beautiful and everything I could have wanted it to be! Fran was lovely to work with and obviously loves what she does and wants to help make your day beautiful and delicious. We got a lemon and a red velvet cake that were very good.

erience in itself. Because we had a covid wedding, all of the other vendors has up pickup samples and take home, but Fran made a very cute Date for us. Wedding planning was busy and just having a reason to sit down and enjoy a desert together was special. The set up at her shop for tasting was too cute, and she left after sitting us down so we could discuss in private. We mentioned upon leaving that we would make a decision about cake vendor once we had samples all of our chosen vendors, but we knew we would probably go with her right away!! We ended up selecting an orange zest vanilla bean buttercream with extra orange zest and it was truly fantastic. We had sampled a few other wedding cake vendors and Cakes by Colby was by far on another level, the price was much less than we expected, she made sugar flowers by hand to match the arch my mother was building. All of our guests loved it. We brought her our own cake stand and she added two tiers for us without charge using foam/fake cake to make it look giant. She also came to our venue herself to set up the cake, and she came and left independently and was just so professional. We are coming up on our one year anniversary now and Fran is making us a complementary mini cake to match our wedding cake so that se can shade a fresh piece together. She told us when we ordered that we should not save a piece to freeze, excuse she does this for every couple's first anniversary. Thank you Fran!!!!!!!

sugar flowers. From the get go she was super easy to work with. For instance, I requested an octagon cake. She didn’t mention until the end of the call she didn’t have a pan for that, but said it would of course be no problem, and she was excited to make it! The tasting setup was like our own adorable, personal tea party, and I really appreciated how special she made it for us. She has lots of display cakes in her shop to give you real-life design examples and ideas. One of my favorite vendors from the day. Highly recommend!!

to our wedding day we didn’t hesitate to hire cakes by Colby for our big day! Not only will she bring your dream cake to life, but the large variety of flavors she offers is phenomenal. She was able to deliver our cake to our venue as well so that took a lot of stress off with worrying about that. If I could give more than a five star rating, I absolutely would!
