Cakes by Megan

Megan made our wedding cake and delivered to our venue in Washington, DC and did a fantastic job! We'd asked for two cakes - a 3 tier cake for display, and a sheet pan 'kitchen cake' for serving. Both tasted amazing! We went with her lemon/lemon curd and cannoli flavors, and the cannoli was especially a favorite of our guests.

Our special day would not have been complete without the delicious and beautiful cake that Megan baked for our wedding! We were impressed with her attentiveness to detail, responsiveness to our emails and questions, and her friendly demeanor. Cakes by Megan gave us the most perfect cake! I've been to several wedding where the cake looks good, but the taste just isn't there, but Megan's cake excelled at both! The cake was breathtaking and extravagant and the flavor was delicious! We got 2 different flavors- Almond and Lemon berry- and both were a hit with our guests! Megan was awesome to work with! We went to her with a general idea of what we wanted our cake to look like and she made it more perfect than we ever knew we wanted! We would highly recommend Cakes by Megan to anyone wanting an awesome looking cake that also tastes amazing!!!

As several brides have noted, this whole compromise thing can be a pain in the tail. We (my mother and I) went to Megan's for a cake tasting - the flavors were fabulous, and she offered the ideal design that echoed my wedding dress. Alas, we knew from the start that we were really picking second place for my fiance, who wanted the peanut butter chocolate pie our that venue serves as part of the menu options. After much back and forth (including a whole-hearted admission from said doubter that the Guinness cake was delicious) we concluded we'd just go with the venue dessert menu and skip the cake altogether. So sad. Megan couldn't have been friendlier or more comfortable to chat with. The cakes were spectacular - hope this review helps another bride pick this excellent cake-maker!

Megan did my cake and it was really pretty, but not quite what we were hoping for. On the positive side, it tasted amazing. If I had to do it all over again I probably would have chosen someone else. The design was complicated, but we gave her specific pictures and it wasn't quite there.

This was by far the second best thing about planning our wedding! We had 3 cake appointments and each had their pros and cons... except for the last place. She did an AMAZING cake tasting. Cakes by Megan in Auburndale, VA...First of all, she had 6 PAGES OF FLAVORS... ranging from strawberry Grand Marnier to chocolate chip. She told us to pick out 3 flavors and there would be a small fee for any extra tasting flavors. I wanted a full spectrum so I chose 5. My husband CHOSE 1 FLAVOR OUT OF ALL OF THEM... and it was chocolate chip. I could have smacked him (Breathe in, breathe out) but I let it go. So, we show up at the location and it is at her house. Her wonderful mom answered the door and showed us in to the sitting room. She was running a little behind, so my mom, dad, husband, and I sat chatting for about 10 minutes. Megan was in the kitchen tinkering away... and I thought to myself, what could she be doing? It's just going to be 5 pieces of cake. OH NO! She walked out carrying two top tiers of a wedding cake! And went back in the kitchen and came out with 2 more! And then another! OMG. She gives you a top tier of the wedding cake to try and you get to take the rest home with you! Her flavors were fabulous and she is so friendly. I couldn't wait to see our our wedding cake. We even took the leftover cakes with us to Florida and had his parents try some too! The only grumble was that in the contract it states that we wanted dark purple grapes cascading down the cake and when it arrived - they were green and light purple. No big! Cake was delicious and I would highly recommend her services.

I loved my cakes! Megan is very talented. She can create anything! Megan made the groom's cake and wedding cake. He flavors are all made by scratch and she has many to choose from. My guests we're all raving about her almond flavor :)

Megan made our wedding cake in November, and it was absolutely delightful! The cake itself was so sleek and perfect, and our guests still can't stop raving about how wonderful it tasted! We had two different flavors, Mint Chocolate Chip and Pumpkin Spice, and most people couldn't even decide on a favorite!
