We loved working with Rachel and her team! From the tasting to the final wedding cake, every part of the process was great! It tasted excellent and our guests loved it. We went with a smooth white look and they placed the flowers on it for us! We thought it came out perfectly! We cannot recommend her enough!!

We can't recommend Rachel and her team enough. We had a 2 tier cake and dessert table which were stunning day of. Our guests were literally gushing! We had a great time doing a tasting. I brough my sister and her partner as well, and Rachel was so accommodating making enough for all 4 of us to taste. Everything was delicious! We had a hard time narrowing down. She's also happy to explore making unique desserts for your wedding. She made mini pavlovas for my wedding to an Aussie and everyone was very excited to see them. Rachel and her team are all warm and welcoming. I would highly recommend working with them!

We used cakes by Rachel for our Wedding and its was wonderful. The cake tasting experience was so much fun and they did a phenomenal job of helping us identify options for making a truly unique (and delicious) cake. Since our wedding was in December we ended up going with a gingerbread cake that was so much better than I would have expected. We Highly recommend them!

The cake was delicious!! Rachel and her team are really helpful and can help you create any type of cake you want. My husband and I have totally different palates, so we were each able to pick a tier that we created ourselves.

The Cakes by Rachel team could not have made the process easier for us and our December '22 wedding. Everyone we interacted with was professional, knowledgeable, and passionate. We knew we wanted a small 2-tier cake with amazing flavors and texture, but we also wanted to provide a dessert table for our guests as well. Rachel & team created a fantastic sampler box with cakes & buttercreams for us to put together on our own, along with a few things we knew we'd want on the bar. Everything was delicious, fresh, and not overly sweet! When it came to cake design, when it's hard to put into words what you want, and Rachel is able to capture it perfectly, what more can you say?? We got so many compliments on all our tasty treats we couldn't have been happier. In addition, the option to utilize display items from the bakery was an added bonus, as it meant everything would be plated in an aesthetically pleasing way. We're so excited that the bakery is local, and we will certainly be back for our anniversary cake(s)!

Rachel was amazing to work with, and her design for our cake was beautiful! I had a few design things in mind but had no idea how they could be executed - Rachel made it happen! She took the time to meet with us to discuss flavors, designs, etc., which made the process so easy. We got ton of compliments on the design and taste! The other desserts her and her team provided were simply delicious too, as wanted to have a variety of options. We would use Cakes by Rachel again!

Cakes by Rachel did a wonderful job with our wedding cake! We had so much fun with the tasting process, and Rachel helped us come up with a delicious combination of flavors. She and Brittany were both great to work with, and were responsive and flexible when we had changes to our guest count. The cake turned out beautifully - thank you for bringing our vision to life!

Working with Rachel was such a fun and delicious experience! We started off by signing with her, per our planner’s recommendation -- she swore she had the tastiest cakes around, and that’s what mattered most to us! As it turns out, her cakes are also GORGEOUS. What a huge bonus! After that, we moved on to the part we were looking forward to the most: the tastings. We placed an order for a variety of mini cakes in to-go cups (this was during a bad part of the pandemic, so it couldn’t be in person). Each cup could either be from a preset menu, or our own custom creation from a huge selection of layers, fillings, frostings, and even liqueur flavors…I’m sure I’m forgetting even more options. While they were all delicious, the signature “Lindsay” flavor stole the show with its white chiffon layers, creme and strawberry compote filling, and white chocolate frosting. The tiramisu-style preset option (I forget the name) was a close second. Once we picked the flavors, it was time to start on the design. We came in with no clue how we wanted it to look, other than “simple,” “white,” “organic texture,” and “totally surrounded by flowers installed by our florist.” Rachel totally nailed it and delivered something above and beyond what we were expecting! To our surprise, Rachel also worked with my mom behind-the-scenes on a custom groom’s cake filled with the tiramisu flavor and styled to look like a frat cooler I made him in undergrad (IYKYK). It looked JUST like the real thing…we were astounded! Thanks Rachel for your amazing contribution to our wedding. Our only regret is not eating it even more!!

Rachel and her team are truly amazing! We were so happy to have her make our wedding cake and we got so many compliments on it! My mom and I went to the tasting, which was very thoughtfully put together, and came up with two very different cake flavors we wanted to incorporate. Rachel and her team made it happen and it turned out so beautifully. She is easy to communicate with and was incredibly flexible as we had to postpone our celebration several times throughout the pandemic. Thank you Rachel!

Amazing cake and desserts!!! I am gluten free and she created a gorgeous and delicious gluten free wedding cake. She also made a variety of desserts (short cake, chocolate bourbon bars, etc) and our guests couldn’t get enough of them. Rachel and her employees are also very kind and easy to work with. Highly recommend!!

We loved our wedding cake from Cakes by Rachel! Working with Rachel and Brittany in selecting our cake flavors and design was such a fun and collaborative process. Brittany was so thorough and organized and walking us through the entire booking and ordering process and Rachel was so creative and really helped us narrow down exactly what we wanted for flavor combinations (passion fruit! chocolate!) and design elements (macarons, ombre, rose gold) and ensured that everything worked together perfectly! We thoroughly enjoyed our take-out tasting and follow-up sessions with Rachel and were thrilled with how our cake turned out on our wedding day! We also ordered some gluten-free cupcakes to accommodate guests' dietary restrictions and heard they were awesome. Thank you so much, Rachel and Brittany, for the modern, fun, and crazy delicious wedding cake--our guests loved everything about it and we were so happy to have a cake that really represented us as a couple! We'll see you next year for our anniversary cake! :)

CBR provided the cake for our wedding, and it couldn’t have been more delicious. Rachel and her team are so easy to work with, responsive, and make amazing cakes. I mostly worked with Rachel and appreciated her guidance when picking out our flavors/combinations. She uses such fresh ingredients (her own farm fresh eggs!) and makes delicious, light cakes that aren’t too sweet. The cake design was so beautiful and came out exactly as I had hoped. Everything went smoothly the day of. I would highly recommend Cakes by Rachel!!

Rachel’s cake was a work of art! She’s amazing at what she does and we highly recommend her for your wedding or celebration. Our wedding cake was absolutely gorgeous and tasted amazing too. See attached photo (from Aaron Watson Photography). Everything was on time and went smoothly. We had 3 different flavors in our tiered cake and they all tasted great. The pre-wedding tasting was probably my husband’s favorite part of wedding planning- LOL! Thanks for being part of our day Rachel!

We loved working with Cakes by Rachel! We changed our order a few times (as the potential guest count was always changing during the pandemic) and Rachel and her team were super accommodating. We ended up doing a mix of cake and mini pies and they were a big hit (no leftovers!). We loved the tasting as well!

Rachel and her team were so helpful, responsive, and patient while we navigated the pandemic and had to change things up a few times. My husband and I live out of state, so sent my parents to do our cake tastings for us. After they met with Rachel they knew immediately that we had to hire her, and I’m so glad we did!! We chose two different flavors and both were absolutely delicious, and the cake looked so beautiful on the outside as well. In addition to incredible cake, Rachel was also wonderful to work with. We had to downsize our April 2021 wedding due to Virginia gathering restrictions, and Rachel worked with us to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. We also used one of her cake stands, which helped make the whole process a breeze. Highly recommend hiring Rachel!

Well, the most important part is that our cake was delicious. And the second most important part is that it was beautiful. I will quote my grandmother in saying “I do not usually like wedding cake, but this cake is AMAZING!” I truly hope that, as a first anniversary gift to me, my husband gets me another cake tasting as Cakes by Rachel. The only reason we had a hard time picking our flavors was because everything Rachel makes is delicious. We also came into the tasting without the faintest idea of what we wanted the cake to look like but Rachel asked us about our venue and our vision for the entire wedding and then sketched for us the most beautiful cake. The real life cake was even more beautiful than we imagined, an absolute piece of art.

Rachel and her team did a beautiful job for us! We loved the cake tasting at her adorable shop in Crozet, and she was so helpful and responsive during the planning process. In addition to the perfect wedding cake, she provided some gluten free cupcakes for my mom and a fun groom's cake for our rehearsal dinner that was also hand-delivered. I would highly recommend Rachel for a personable experience!

Cakes by Rachel (and Rachel herself!) were absolutely wonderful to work with for our wedding. I had a never-been-done before for my wedding cake and Rachel nailed it - it look stunning! I knew I had a great team for my wedding when Rachel said she talked with my florist about my cake when they were at a (non-work) party together! She even grew some of the flowers herself for my cake - planning over a year in advance for them. And, not only did the cake look gorgeous, it tasted AMAZING. Countless guests came up to me to tell me how delicious the cake was. Highest recommendation to work with Cakes by Rachel!

Admittedly, desserts were the part of our wedding reception that we were the most excited about during the planning process and Cakes By Rachel did not disappoint! Second to seeing my husband as I walked down the aisle of course, I smiled the biggest when I saw Rachel’s gorgeous and delicious dessert table at our reception. From the beginning, my husband and I were blown away by the tasting itself. Rachel put out a spread of goodies that included a variety of her delicious frostings, fillings and cake flavors allowing us to mix and match different flavor combinations. Rachel was so helpful and flexible when we discussed our “mini desserts” concept with her and she helped guide us into choosing a nice variety of desserts with different flavors, textures and looks. Our guests loved everything and left nothing behind! Rachel was also so helpful and supportive of my crazy idea to bake our own cutting cake myself. She did a beautiful job of decorating it with the flowers as well, so I am forever grateful for her help in making my special cake a reality!

Rachel made the MOST delicious cake we could imagine!! She is a lovey person as well, which made it even better. :) From the first bite during our tasting, we were IN. And the cake was one of the things we most looked forward to - and enjoyed! - on our wedding day. She has books filled with photos of her creations - many many different styles and types. We ended up choosing a very simple design with fresh flowers on the outside, and that was perfect. Rachel was prompt in her communication, warm and friendly, and just a fabulous PRO baker. Excellent!!

One word. YUM. not only is everything that Rachel bakes delicious, the way she decorated our desserts for our wedding were out of this world! Our dessert bar was incredible, our wedding cake was everything we could have asked for and more, and everyone loved the yummy treats! Thank you so so much for all of your hard work! Wow! Rachel and her team are fantastic! I feel so lucky that all of my wedding vendors were so wonderful, and Rachel is no exception! Our wedding cake was exactly what we asked for, elegant and simple. We also ordered cupcakes and the word on the dance floor was that they were amazing! Last minute I added a groom's cake and Rachel hit it out of the park. She went above and beyond to make our wedding weekend oh so special! She's a true artist, but also kind and good-natured! Exactly the kind of people I associate with :) Can't say enough good things about this little shop - get on her calendar for your next big (or small) event!

Our selection of cupcakes from Cakes by Rachel were absolutely delicious. Our tasting was unlike other shops that allowed us to try a multitude of flavor combinations, including a unique blood orange icing that got rave reviews from our guests. Rachel and her team were also able to accommodate a gluten free cutting cake for me. The slices we took home of chocolate with mocha and chocolate mousse were the perfect way to wrap up our day.

Rachel is absolutely amazing and wonderful to work with!! We started out by selecting several cakes, different fillings, and different icings. Then, came to our taste testing set up in her cozy quaint little cottage where she does her baking, to find little slices of the different cake flavors, fillings and icings in labeled ramekins, and knives/spoons to spread the fillings and layer cake, then finish off with icings until we found the flavor combination we loved! I am not a sweets or dessert person, but I have to say her cakes are one of the best I’ve ever had! She is very helpful in picking out the right cake stand for your cake, and giving suggestions on cake combinations. We ended up with a 8” single tier bare naked chocolate naked cake with chocolate mousse and raspberry filling, and vanilla buttercream icing, then a sheet cake with 1/2 this combo and the other 1/2 almond cake with hazelnut filling and white chocolate icing. Our guests raves about our cake at the wedding and we ended up without any leftovers. Choosing Rachel was one of the best decisions we made and we were so honored and blessed to have her apart of our special day! , ice

Rachel made a beautiful and delicious cake for our wedding. She was so easy to work with, and our tasting was one of the best parts of wedding planning. All of her cakes were delicious, it was hard to choose one. We got so many comments on how good the cake was throughout the night and afterward. My mom keeps raving about it, saying it 'might have been the best cake I've ever had', and I'd have to agree. And, her design was beautiful, too. We went with a more simple look with flowers arranged on the cake, and it looked and photographed really well.

Rachel was very sweet and is a very good baker and cake decorator. She has many flavors to choose from, all of which are delicious. We opted for a more simple design, and Rachel did a wonderful job. :)

Our wedding was two months ago, and we are still hearing how delicious our cake was! The tasting experience was so much fun, and Rachel provided us with several different types of cakes, fillings and buttercreams to design our very own cake (white chiffon cake with strawberry compote and lemon buttercream, to be exact)! The ingredients were so fresh and we had fun creating our cake! On the day of our wedding, I was blown away with how beautiful the cake looked! The day of our wedding was so hectic and between all of the events and excitement, I did not have an opportunity to eat the cake at the wedding and was so sad! While on our honeymoon, my parents contacted Rachel and they surprised us with cupcakes that were made to mimic our cake! We were so happy to have them when we came home. Rachel was very responsive throughout the planning process and we are counting down for our one year anniversary when we can take the top layer our of the freezer and enjoy it all over again!

Rachel was professional and kind and helpful from the first moment I contacted her. Her cake tasting was incredible, almost overwhelming with all of the options. I had specific ideas for my cake design and she took my ideas and ran with them. Besides being delicious, the cake looked fabulous, too. I had several guests go up and touch it because they thought it was too perfect to be a real cake! Everyone spoke of how delicious it was. Rachel was truly an incredible, top-notch vendor and I would highly recommend her to anyone getting married in the Charlottesville area. Truly an artist at design, and a master at baking! I had a bad experience with the first baker I tried to work with and almost lost hope of having a cake at our wedding, but Rachel restored my hope and delivered a beautiful and very tasty cake. She worked with our budget and my dream cake image (plus my husband's demand for his own vanilla cake) and produced two wonderful cakes. I worked with her over the phone and via email and she was very accessible. She even packed a to go package of cake, filling and frosting samples for my husband to bring up to NYC for me.
