Pretty disappointed. My fiance and I want to have pies for our wedding instead of cake and we had been looking for a flexible bakery willing to make that happen. So, I called Cakes by Stephanie to ask some questions about pies and the woman ...on the phone was super sweet and told me that I should just come in for a consultation and pie tasting and that all my questions would be answered. She said that we would be able to taste any seasonal pie. The only available date was 5 weeks later, so I made the appt. Fast forward 5 weeks and we decided to make a night out of it and picked up my future mother-in-law and everything. We drove over an hour to get to Cakes by Stephanie and when we get there the woman takes my name and sits us down at table and gives us a to-go container full of cake. I politely explain to her that we are there to try pies and she walks away and never comes back.
Honestly, I thought maybe they were in the back plating up the pies....but about 15 minutes later Stephanie's husband came out to talk to us. Honestly, he was very nice. But he kept trying to sell us cake, even after we made it clear that we were only interested in pies. Finally, my fiance asked him if we were going to get to taste pies, which was the whole point of the trip, and he said they did not have any because someone forgot to put it on the calendar. He did find one peanut butter pie that he gave us and he couldn't have known that known of us like peanut butter LOL (totally not his fault). I understand that kind of thing happens, but it was terribly disappointing. We did have a bite of the cake and it was delicious, but the whole thing just kind of rubbed us the wrong way. The customer service, even if friendly, was not organized, which made me think I should not trust them to handle things correctly on my wedding day.
