For over 25 years, owner Tanis Knight, has been baking delicious and unique wedding/grooms cakes which have made her one of our areas most sought after cake designers.

d. We were informed that a natural cake tends to be dense, like a pound cake, which we sampled and loved. After the meeting we decided on a chocolate groom's cake of Han Solo frozen in carbonite (Star Wars geeks will understand) with the words "I love you.... I know" on it. Three weeks before the event, I called Tanis to describe the cake and was asked to send photos of what we wanted, which I did on the same day along with a link of where to find the mold for it. Three days before the wedding, Tanis informed my daughter that she just found my email and wouldn't be able to make the cake in time for the event. A substitute cake was decided on between my daughter and Tanis which ended up being a major disappointment in appearance and taste (very dry) The storm troopers and Darth Vader were juvenile in appearance as well. When the bridal couple went to slice the bride's cake, lo and behold - a piece of green cake was the first slice served. The texture and color was not what we requested, sampled, and approved. That's 2 cakes screwed up folks - major bummer x 2

The bride's cake was 5 tiers, every other layer was vannila with buttercream, and then strawberry with buttercream. I had found a picture on Pintrest of a very simple, yet elegant white cake with fondant flowers on the side. I sent the picture to Tanis, and she did a fabulous job! I liked it better than what I found online!
My husband chose carrot cake with cream cheese icing for his groom's cake...and he wanted it to look like a stiped bass. (Big fisherman)I also sent this picture to Tanis, and my huisband was in love with his cake! All of the cake flavors were just delicious.
Cakes by Tanis also provided instructions on how to freeze the top layer of the cake, so when you eat it on your one year wedding anniversary, it's still delicious. Very helpful!!

what I wanted, and both turned out beautifully. All of the cakes were delicious! Tanis provided instructions for freezing and thawing the top tier for our anniversary. We have only been married for a month, but I followed the same instructions for the leftover cakes and brought them to work when we returned from our honeymoon, and the cakes were just as moist and delicious. We had asked for strawberry filling in our German Chocolate groom's cake, but she used chocolate filling. No big deal - it was still good. Tanis is not quick at responding to emails or answering all questions when she does respond, and she does not write sales contracts, which kind of makes for a nervous bride, but I am happy with the end result. When we arrived in Florida for the wedding we took our cake toppers and ribbon to her we wanted to use on the cakes. When the cakes arrived to the reception venue we were beyond pleased with both the bride and groom cakes. They were absolutley perfect and tasted delicious!! We couldn't have asked for anything better! Thank you Tanis for all of your hard work and making our wedding day absolutely perfect!!

ions. I gave her a picture of exactly what I wanted my cake to look like (only difference is a different color trim to match my colors and to use my flowers). The squares of cake were not even squares. The black strip down the center and the black separators were not black. You could see cardboard on the separators (between the layers). The cardboard showing and not looking professional was even pointed out to her (through text picture) and she responded with moving the ribbon down and her job was done. We have never heard anything from her. There was no skill behind this cake. I should have saved the money and made it myself. Might have actually turned out better.... Stay away from Cakesbytanis.com
I ordered a three tiered beach wedding cake from Tanis for our wedding. Not only does it take FOREVER to get responses from Tanis while you are trying to coordinate your order, but...
the cake I ordered was absolutely terrible. She dropped it off at our location without letting anyone know. When I finally saw it, it was nothing like what I had expected. The shells around the tiers had already started to fall off before the ceremony even began. The fondant was not smoothed out, and the colors were nothing like what I had asked for. To make matters worse, she dropped off the cake with no topper!!! We ordered a beautiful sand dollar topper to match the rest of the cake, but she never made it! She delivered the cake completely bare and my poor maid of honor had to fabricate a topper just one hour before the ceremony began! When I tried to call the number Tanis left, she never picked up, and claimed through e-mail several days later that no one ever called her. She did not feel any remorse what-so-ever for ruining our wedding cake experience. And it DEFINITELY wasn't worth the $450 she charged for it! I DO NOT recommend using her service unless you enjoy disappointment.
