Cakes Houston

Chef saw my cake, said no problem, I did not get the details or the size expected! The cake was extremely simple, small, not what I asked or paid for. Too much money for such small cake,did not even have a cake platter,poor presentation

We used Cakes Houston because we had gone to cake places all over that were quoting us about $400 for cakes that were smaller than what they had to offer us for $250 (for a bride's and grooms cake package). It's true you get what you pay for lol the cakes were definitely not exactly the design we wanted - this is what we wanted: http://tinyurl.com/7xnvam3 and http://tinyurl.com/784n6qm and this is what we got: http://tinyurl.com/7pakt7u so it was a little disappointing but if you don't care about the details - and we really didn't - their cake was AMAZING. Oh my gosh, we had gone to eight different cake tastings before we found him and when we got to him, all the other cakes tasted horrible. On my cake, he used a whip cream frosting and on the inside had white cake with whip cream and a super fresh real raspberry filling and on my husband's cake he did butter cream frosting and inside a marble cake with whip cream and fresh cut strawberries. The cakes were so moist and delicious and I let my bridesmaids take it home from the reception and they had eaten basically the entire second layer by the time I picked it up two days later. I have never tasted cake so moist and delicious with just the right balance of sweetness so as to not be too sweet and overwhelming. After the tasting when I booked him I literally was craving the cake for weeks. Seriously amazing. They also have really great deals on catering and GOD I wish I had booked them for that. We did a tasting with them for it and it tasted really great and would have cost us only $900, including the cakes, for 60 people but they outsource for their staff from another company and that staff wouldn't have picked up the plates when our guests were finished and my maid-of-honor-zilla convinced me to use a caterer her boss always uses (who wound up costing me $2500, $500 of which was unexpected and charged the day of the wedding and in the end I was pretty much completely unsatisfied with *sigh*). If you're having a small wedding (our ended up being less than 40 people actually attending) I would say seriously consider them because they are so sweet and great and their cake is to die for and their food is really good too. I regret not using him for catering because at the time I thought my expensive caterer would look so much better but - nope, once it's on the plate it's seriously all the same lol. But I love them and if I ever need a cake for another big event I'm positive I will use them again!!

I was referred to Cakes Houston by my florist and I thank God that I was because they were amazing. Francisco was a joy to work with and willing to help in any way possible. Not only do they do cakes but they cater also. Let me start with the cakes... I brought a picture of what I wanted and they made it perfectly. It was BEAUTIFUL. More than being beautiful it was the best cake I have ever eaten. There was not one piece of it left. It was a white cake with fresh strawberry filling and buttercreme icing. ALL of my guests raved about how good it was and many of them also commented it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. I was so amazed. The groom's cake was exactly as I wanted it and it too was delicious, chocolate with chocolate icing. THe cake was moist and so flavorful and the icing on the groom's cake was a whipped cream frosting that was out of this world, not too sweet and a great texture. All of my family said that in the future that is where we will be getting our birthday cakes, etc. They did our food as well, and let me say that it was so good that by the time I went to get some it was all gone. I guess that's what I get for waiting! My husband said the food was delicious and I was told there were many who went back to get seconds. Anyhow I HIGHLY recommend you try Cakes Houston. You will not be disappointed and the value for your money is unbelievable. They are truly a hidden gem.
