If I could leave zero stars I would. My husband and I booked the Cambria for our June 2020 wedding. During the planning process the Hotels event coordinator was fired and we were n...
ot informed until I emailed the employee with a question. When we went to our food tasting it was terrible! The steak was way over cooked and the chicken tasted like rubber. Our wedding took place during a very unprecedented time (COVID-19). The hotel did not inform me of my cancelled reception until May 30th and my wedding was scheduled for June 27th, leaving me with less than a month to plan another ceremony/reception. Luckily, I was able to have the wedding of my dreams at another venue that turned out to be even better than my originally planned wedding.
We highly recommend the Cambria. It was everything we had envisioned for our wedding! Every member of the Cambria staff, from front desk to the catering department, were incredibl...
y helpful, friendly, and accommodating. The hotel was able to reserve rooms for all of our wedding guests for the entire weekend of our wedding. The Cambria has been fully renovated, and the rooms are spacious, modern and have lots of convenient amenities. Our guests took full advantage of the common areas in the hotel, and it was lovely to have everyone socializing each evening at the lobby bar, and meeting each morning for breakfast.
In addition, the hotel is in a great location. We were pleasantly surprised to hear from our guests of all the Pittsburgh happenings and sites that they frequented throughout the weekend - exploring downtown, the Strip, Mt. Washington, visiting museums, street fairs, shopping and endless restaurants. Our experience with the catering staff was excellent. The catering manager, Ashley Schwan, was very responsive to our many questions, emails and phone calls. She also made herself available to meet with us in person numerous times to review menus, conduct a food tasting, discuss room set up, etc. She was also fully available to us on the actual wedding weekend, and was very attentive to our needs, as well as the needs of our guests.
In terms of the wedding menu, the Chef was very accommodating to various special dietary needs. Our menu was vegetarian, including cocktail hour and the dinner. In addition there were several dairy-free, gluten-free meals that were served as well.
The actual wedding venue is in the lower level of the hotel. Very convenient for all the guests staying at the hotel, as they could take the elevator right down to the event. We held the ceremony in the ballroom. The staff set everything up beautifully including our ritual needs (a chuppah/wedding canopy) and rows of chairs with white covers. The venue also provided a separate room for the wedding party to gather and sign the marriage contract (ketubah) and marriage license beforehand. After the ceremony, we had a cocktail hour in the adjoining bar and patio. The whole space was fabulous – modern, warm and inviting. We had live music play at cocktail hour, which really added to the festivities. The doors were propped open allowing guests to wander both inside and outside. Appetizers were served (white glove service) in addition to a buffet table of cheese & crudité. After cocktail hour we moved back to the ballroom for dinner and dancing. The setup and breakdown was all handled efficiently and seamlessly. The ballroom is a large, spacious, modern room. To give it some extra style, we added uplighting, and hung paper lanterns over the dance floor. There was ample room for our guests, and a large dance floor. Dinner was lovely, and the dancing was lively! (As per the staff it was the best dance party ever!)
Cambria Suites was AMAZING for our clients' wedding! As a local planner, I have worked with many venues and can truly say that my experience with Cambria Suites was exquisite. The ...
staff was so accommodating, hardworking, and polite to all guests and vendors. Ashley, our contact at the hotel, was fabulous! She answered all our questions, kept every detail organized and kept everything day-of running smoothly.
The wedding was beautiful there! Cambria Suites is so versatile and allows for so many different design styles. The bar/cocktail hour space is so great and allowed for a great party! The atmosphere of the outdoor patio is so unique for downtown Pittsburgh! So many guests were raving about the open air lounges. Awesome venue for a bride and group that love to party! We will be recommending this venue to other couples.
What a terrific venue for our daughter’s July 2018 wedding reception. I cannot more highly recommend the Cambria Downtown Pittsburgh for a wedding. First and foremost, the staff...
at the Cambria was excellent to work with. Ashley Schwan, Catering Sales Manager coordinated and executed a flawless event. The food was terrific and all of our guests complimented the elegant appetizers and dinner. The hotel staff was extremely courteous and helpful as most of our 125 guests were from out-of-town and stayed at the Cambria for the wedding. The hotels suites were spacious and updated. The reception space itself is exceptional. The entire area is in the lower level of the hotel and is entirely private to your event, including restrooms. It is accessed via stairs and elevator. The cocktail area is spacious and attractive. The bar is huge. The dining room is very nice but I think hosting 150 would be the maximum number that can be seated in comfort. That the bar and dining both open to a private and very large patio which overlooks downtown Pittsburgh only enhances the Cambria experience compared to its competition. The sheer amount of room allows for a wonderful flow for guests. Most of our guests headed out to the patio for cocktails and immediately after dinner where there was lots of intimate seating. Thank you to the Cambria for a fabulous wedding!
The chef and food along with the location are the strong points at this venue. We can not say enough about how great the food was! The bar and selection of alcohol was also top not...
ch. However, contrary to what is stated above I do not feel this venue can comfortably accomadate 200 people. We had 188 guests at our April 2018 wedding and the cocktail space was extremely tight and the reception area felt the same way. I feel the space is better suited for max of 150. Unlike the other reviews stated we did have another event in the exact same space the night before and morning of our reception which was worrisome but the staff did an excellent job turning the room and setting up all of our decorations. However, I did that the start of the reception was kind of a mess with guests being served soup during our first dance and bridal party dance creating a very distracting environment. I would expect serving food would wait until after these 2 events were completed. Plus we had no champagne to toast our bridesmaid or best man speeches with which is disappointing as I felt they should have had that covered. Overall, I would suggest checking this venue out as the staff is very friendly but on the smaller size regarding your guest list.
We held our wedding reception of 160 guests at Cambria in April 2018 and cannot say enough about the amazing experience we had working with the staff! All staff members were so pro...
mpt in their responses to questions, accommodating to our special requests, and willing to do everything in their power to make our special day perfect. We loved that our wedding reception was the only major event being hosted at Cambria that day because this allowed for personalized attention that other venues with multiple ballrooms could not provide. Our guests loved the beautiful view of downtown from the patio during our cocktail hour, the fabulous appetizers and dinner, and the proximity of Cambria to all the fun of downtown Pittsburgh including the complimentary local shuttle bus. I would highly recommend Cambria Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh to host a wedding reception!
Above and beyond, seamless, perfect, and personal: these are the words i would use to describe the best day of my life, and they are all thanks to Cambria. There was not a single ...
person in my or my husband's family who was not treated with the utmost respect and care while we were there. If I had the choice to go back in time and have my wedding at either at Cambria or the Ritz- I would Choose Cambria without hesitation. This level of quality and friendliness is what makes Cambria more than a hotel. Choosing them for our wedding venue was absolutely the best decision my husband and I made about our big day. When we got back from our honeymoon all of our friends and family asked us "were there any big mistakes or blunders that happened on your day of?" and these days, everyone has a story from their own wedding they can usually relate- but not us. Everything was perfect about our reception.
I have high expectations, and when you plan something for so long you hope that it goes perfectly- but you still worry! On my day, I didn't have to worry for a second because every single moment we were working with them- from the lovely tour of the whole hotel- to the last moments of our stay on our way out to leave on honeymoon was extraordinary. Before we picked them, my husband and I went on at least a dozen different venue tours in and around Pittsburgh before we arrived at Cambria. We were on a budget, but we kept leaving other venues with the feeling that they didn't really care about us- that they were just as likely to forget an important detail since they rarely could remember our names.
Touring Cambria was a complete opposite experience, because of Tracy Anderson! She toured us through the hotel, and really listened to us when we explained our budget. Rather than nickle-and-diming us, or hiding the fees and taxes the way other venues did- she gave us several options for cutting cost while making sure that our experience would be special. Tracy Anderson is the single-most wonderful, organized, and helpful person I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Her diligence and and commitment to excellence meant that every aspect of planning an execution was perfect and beyond what we could have ever imagined. Knowing that Tracy was working on so many of the aspects of our weekend gave us so much peace of mind! Her confidence and experience meant that we were comfortable trusting her. I wish I had Tracy Anderson around to organize everything else about my life!
Our menu tasting was a BLAST! Again, my husband and I are kind of foodies so we weren't expecting too much from what we thought would be run-of-the-mill 'hotel food'. Boy did we underestimate them! The courses were fresh, bright, inventive and so filling. When we attended the menu tasting we had so much fun, it felt like a night out at an high-end restaurant. Each course went into the next one seamlessly on the day of. The chef created a custom and very creative menu for us, complete with pasta MADE FROM SCRATCH!! The week before the big day, he even sent me an email with a video of him and the sous chefs rolling it out! I was floored by such a five-star kind of treatment. They also helped create special meals for all of our guests with allergies! The staff- cleaning staff, servers, shuttle drivers, receptionists, managers, and bartenders all went out of their way to make sure that we were having a perfect, five star experience. Book them now and thank me later!
We held my daughter’s Wedding Reception at The Cambria last weekend and it was an amazing experience! The Cambria turned out to be the perfect spot for us. The location was wit...
hin short walking distance to downtown and shuttle distance to the church in Lawrenceville. We were able to accommodate all of our family on site in their spacious and well-appointed rooms. Several of us were in suites, which were large, comfortable, and in the bride’s case, had the most amazing views of downtown. The facilities were great, we utilized the business center multiple times for last minute printing needs, and our kids wore out the pool and the gym. The Cambria was an excellent financial value, from the room rates to the reception costs.
The Cambria has a real star in its special events coordinator, Tracy Anderson. She is the reason our experience was so fabulous, working closely with us well in advance of the big day. First, she is unflappable, cheerful and engaging. Second, she has great contacts in Pittsburgh and was able to help us find the vendor support we needed. Third, she was a great team leader, ensuring that the wonderful staff were in all hands on deck mode all weekend. Fourth, Tracy made us feel so special, as if we were the first and only family to have an event there, instilling a huge level of confidence that the entire event was completely under control at all times. What could have been a stressful time preparing was instead a relaxed opportunity for us to spend time with family and friends, knowing that all of the details were being managed.
The food was outstanding for our plated dinner. The portions were huge, and each course was delicious. Tracy even sent us a video of Chef Joe Nolan preparing our ravioli course by hand! He also went above and beyond to accommodate our guests with dietary restrictions which was appreciated. The bartenders and waitstaff were professional, friendly and attentive to all of our needs.
There were so many little details that contributed to one of the most memorable weekends our family has or will ever have. The front desk Team (Rula, Steve and Kelby), for example, managed the distribution of welcome letters and gifts for our guests. Shuttle driver Erica made a special trip across town to retrieve the lost item of one of our party. The hotel arranged for special security the night of the event to ensure that our guests had sufficient onsite parking. Tracy was able to respond to last minute needs we had with graceful efficiency. The reception space was sparkling clean and the patio area connecting the bar with the ballroom added overflow space with a fantastic view of downtown Pittsburgh.
So happy we chose The Cambria for our special event, and cannot recommend them more highly.
