Unprofessional, unorganized, and rude! My husband and I were on a tight budget When we found Camp Starfish we thought it was beautiful. The chapel overlooks the trees and it truly ...
was a beautiful ceremony. That’s about where the good parts ended. We paid $1600 for a their half day package. We realized after the fact that when it said 4 hour package, it literally meant 4 hours - start to finish. They expected us to set up, have a ceremony, have the reception, and clean up within 4 hours exactly, which is unrealistic for any wedding. However, that’s on us. When I went back and looked, it was stated in the information we were provided before we booked. Just something to consider before booking so you don’t make the same mistake! We paid $500 for an extra hour. 2 days before the ceremony, the camp emailed me a waiver that all guests need to sign to be allowed on the premises. It was a liability form of some kind. Now, maybe this was buried in the fine print, but the first time it was mentioned to me was two days before my wedding. We had planned for 70 guests to come and were just now hearing about the form? It caused stress as I was worried some of the older guests wouldn’t want to sign it. Day of, family friends arrived at the campsite an hour before the ceremony to set up. When we toured the property there were two main parking lots. One when you first pull in that is far from the main camp ground, and a smaller parking lot right at the beginning of where the cabins are. The closer lot had been labeled “visitor parking” when we toured. When we got there, that was crossed out and it was labeled “staff parking”. Every guest was expected to park far away. Even the elderly ones. They allowed people with decorations to drive further down the path closer to the chapel and dining hall. They essentially shrugged their shoulders as my husband’s elderly grandmother asked how she was supposed to get to the chapel with all the flowers for the wedding arch. They told her they’re not really supposed to be “of service” as they drove away on their golf carts. When we toured, we were told that golf carts were available to any elderly person who really needed them. I was the only one who was permitted a golf cart ride, and my great aunt fell after the ceremony, walking to the dining hall. Things only got worse with the sound system I paid $300 extra for. It wasn’t set up in the chapel as promised—it was in the dining hall. The ceremony was delayed nearly 20 minutes while they moved it, which mattered since we were paying by the hour. When they finally handed over the microphone, staff said, “I hope it’s charged.” Unbelievable. During the reception, the sound was awful; the mic cut out if you stepped more than a couple of feet from the speaker. Our videographer missed all the speeches because of this. Save yourself the money and bring your own equipment. As the reception wrapped up, staff showed up 10 minutes before our end time to make sure we were packing up. I understand weddings never go perfectly, and some issues were on us, but a supportive venue makes a huge difference. For $400 an hour, I expected far more professionalism, flexibility, and basic courtesy. Maybe if you rent the entire weekend they treat you better, but for us, Camp Starfish was an extremely disappointing and stressful experience.
I really appreciated the Camp Starfish staff during the long weekend. They were incredibly flexible with us, and there was always someone there to ask for help or call/text if we n...
eeded something. They kept the site clean and were on-time with the schedule and meals. Our guests thought it was really creative to have a wedding at a campsite, and it helped us relive some of our childhood memories being able to play on the field, basketball court, etc. And we love what the camp stands for!
We recently had the privilege of hosting our wedding at a truly exceptional venue nestled in the picturesque town of Rindge, NH. From the moment we set foot on the grounds, we were...
enchanted by the natural beauty and the warmth that permeated every corner.
The staff at the camp were the true stars of the show, even when they were behind the scenes. Their dedication to making our day unforgettable was evident in every detail. They went above and beyond to ensure that everything went smoothly, and their attention to detail was impeccable. The level of professionalism and genuine care they displayed for our guests, was truly heartwarming.
One of the highlights of our celebration was the opportunity for our guests to participate in some of the camp's recreational activities. From canoeing on the serene lake to enjoying the beautiful walking trails, our wedding became a unique and memorable experience for everyone.
The rustic charm of the dining hall added a touch of coziness to the overall atmosphere, creating the perfect setting for our wedding feast.
In conclusion, our wedding at Starfish was nothing short of magical. The combination of a stunning natural setting, dedicated staff, and delightful recreational activities made it the perfect venue for our celebration. If you're looking for a place that not only exceeds expectations but also has a heartwarming mission, Camp Starfish is the ideal choice. Five stars all around!
We loved Camp Starfish! We had so many people traveling from all over, and it was so cool to have our bridal party and a lot of our guests staying together in both the main guest h...
ouse and the smaller second building. Joe and Jamie were exceptional in their patience during the whole process answering all of our questions. The chapel was absolutely gorgeous and the camp being on the lake was perfect for pictures! There was a kitchen on site, and the mess hall was great for the reception space. And what an amazing organization to work with too! We were so happy
Camp Starfish made the perfect location for our camp wedding weekend! I was sold on the location the minute I walked into their chapel in the woods. It must have been the way the s...
unlight filtered through the trees and danced on the chapel floors that made me realize that this is where I wanted to get married. Emily and her staff were so accommodating. We had the camp for the weekend and a storm blew through Friday night during the welcome dinner. The staff made sure all the bunks had space heaters accessible and checked in with everyone to make sure they were warm in those conditions. Which being so last minute definitely put the bride at ease. Weekend long weddings are not an easy task but Camp Starfish seemed to always put us at ease in general.
The next day the weather cooperated and we celebrated most of the day with family in a relaxed comfortable setting provided by the camp's ammenities. We can't wait to follow up with them and send some of our favorite pictures throughout the camp.
My family is even considering making reservations for family reunions and retreats to be held here in the future! Thank you camp starfish!
For my husband and I this venue proved the perfect fit! We had an amazing weekend long event (all inclusive- cabins, restrooms, etc.). Couples and their guests will need to be ou...
tdoorsy and comfortable with taking walking trails to their ceremony site and reception space. Some hotels nearby enough for those who do not want to spend the night at camp. Will need to supply decor, mirrors for the restrooms and any other materials needed for both ceremony and reception. The perks- all the money from the wedding goes toward helping children who can't afford camp be able to go (and how could we not). The staff was great and very friendly but details did need to be taken care of by wedding attendants and helpers. Such a unique wedding experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Such an amazing camp too :-).
