Canaan Valley Resort

Canaan Valley is the perfect place to showcase West Virginia. It is a beautiful area with great people. We had our reception at Bear Paw Lodge. The food and service were good. We were able to get what we want within our budget. I got the impression with several staff that the bare minimum was all they had to do and there was no exceptional customer service. However, there is no other location in the area that can accommodate a large number of guests. The rooms were very nice and clean. We were not overwhelmed by the wedding locations at Canaan Valley Resort (especially for the price they wanted), so we opted for Pendleton Point at Blackwater Falls State Park. It was somewhat of an inconvenient drive but the pictures were gorgeous and people enjoyed looking around the park and at the falls while we took photos before the reception.

With family in Western Maryland and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, we were looking for a spot that would allow our guests to attend our wedding without too much hassle. We had our wedding at Canaan Valley Resort in September, and it was beautiful! The mountains and blue sky provided the perfect backdrop to our ceremony, and the ski lodge was spacious enough to house our larger reception. The staff was accommodating, responsive, and attentive. And the hotel had plenty of room for our out-of-town guests (and a great bar for when the party carries on into the night!) Everything went perfectly. We couldn't have asked for a better venue.
