We hired Cancel Monday to perform at our wedding in August 2025, and words can’t describe how blown away we were with them. They were incredible! Not only were they by far the best wedding band we’ve ever seen, they were some of the best live performers we’ve ever seen. The musical arrangements were fantastic, and the singers were truly special. We’d be willing to bet some serious money that Cancel Monday has the best vocalists in Michigan. In fact, our guests and the employees at our wedding venue are still talking about how great they were. Their setlist covered decades of great party songs, and the dance floor was never empty. Beyond the actual performance, Jeff was so easy to work with. As we both live out of state, Jeff was more than willing to hop on numerous phone calls with us and go over several of the finer details of the ceremony. He made the process as streamlined and stress-free as possible. He offered great suggestions, and every conversation felt easy-going and personable. Also worth noting, they absolutely crushed the first dance, bride-father, and groom-mother songs. Our wedding was so special, and Cancel Monday played a large role in making it unforgettable.

Jeff started Cancel Monday in 2007. He started the group with the idea of having a high energy dance group that could cover all styles of music with all live musicians, no computer tracks. He has been successful in promoting the group throughout the metro Detroit area and from Chicago to Florida. Jeff wants to make this a easy experience for his clients and help them make it a great night. Jeff has been playing live all over the USA for the last 28 years and has worked behind some well known musicians. He has covered all styles of music from straight ahead jazz to high energy dance music.

just got our pics back and let me tell you, these people were truly LIVING on the dance floor. Jeff was fantastic to work with. We had a couple prep calls where he got an idea of what we were looking for, sent over a song list that we flagged with what we did and didn't want. Then a final call the week of the wedding to confirm the sequence of events with songs/dances/speeches (I didn't even think about this part!). And day of: set up, communication, performance, everything was 10/10.
Our wedding was fantastic, I want to re-live it forever. And a huge part of that was the great vibes and music from Jeff and Cancel Monday!

Jeff Michels (our contact with Cancel Monday) was very easy to work with and made preparing for the wedding a breeze. Jeff was very competent and knew exactly what we were looking for. His in-depth experience with weddings and other events gave us great insight into planning our reception. Jeff was communicative and available almost anytime we needed to speak with him. I cannot recommend Cancel Monday enough. You will not find a better wedding band than this group.

schedule and notes months in advance (verbally, in email, and pdf formats). They were supposed to introduce us as the new Mr. and Mrs. and then play the first dance song. Instead, they decided to play the hora and we were just standing awkwardly on the side waiting for the band to start our song. I tried to let them know to play our song but they didn’t pay attention. They just mechanically kept playing, not realizing they messed up. I specifically chose to dance our first dance BEFORE the hora so that we wouldn’t be as sweaty for the pictures/video or our first dance.
Additionally, we paid extra for a DJ and were promised jazz music during dinner, but there were moments that the room was just dead silent without music during the salad course.
I made a specific note that the speeches should be under the tree, facing the bride and groom so we could make eye contact with our parents during their speeches. Instead, the MC decided to stand on the stage, which was the farthest point away from us and we could barely see our parents while they were speaking to us. This is a shame since we spent most of the time straining to see our parents instead of enjoying the speeches.
Throughout the evening, the band had sound issues and we were not happy with their overall performance.
We also paid extra for horns and we could not near them as we were dancing. In fact, I didn’t even know they were playing until I saw them in a photo later on. The band should have anticipated these sound issues ahead of time and corrected the problems before they started performing.
We heard Cancel Monday perform at my cousin’s wedding and they were fine, so it is a shame that they had such an off day during our wedding.

wedding was chaotic to say the least. I was still recieving changes to the time line as late as 1 hour prior to the reception. The client never took into consideration that the venue she booked for her reception had a 5 piece band max for the room and when I showed up with a nine piece band (that the client booked)the manger made it clear they were not happy. The venue assigned a staff member to monitor the room with a decibel meter and spent most of the night telling us to turn things down so the police were not called by the surrounding neighbors. He was extremely sensitive to the horn section and said that he could hear them outside and didn’t want them in the PA system for that reason. The venue also pointed out to us that the band would be subject to a $1,500 fine in addition to any noise ordinance fines that were given by the police if the neighbors called about the volume. I do not consider us to be a very loud band so if I was being asked to turn down I know the venue has had problems in the past. I felt it was the best for everyone involved to cooperate the best we could to keep the venue happy. The issue with the speeches and tree is correct but the bride never mentions that the MC tried to direct her father to the tree and he refused to go there and said he wanted to give his speech from the stage. There was not a lot we could do to convince him otherwise. In my opionion and from the other 60 plus feedbacks we have out there I would say we are really easy to deal with and have always gone above a beyond for our clients. I have been playing for 30 years of playing and have a strong reputation and provide quality service, that event was no exception. We provided a quality service under very difficult circumstances and expectations. I tried my best to talk with the bride and her wedding planner the night of the event and her wedding planner made it clear she was being beyond difficult with every vendor and do the best to go with the flow. The guests enjoyed the performance and the guests were dancing all evening.

If you're looking for an amazing performance and experience for your wedding, this is definitely the band to go with. They were *extremely* FUN, professional, and friendly.
At first (being a thrifty person) I resisted the idea of booking a full band, but I'm SO glad we did; it really made the entire night. If there's one aspect of the wedding to spend money, it's this band.
We had about 150 people at the wedding and everybody who could dance was on the floor having a blast. Our guests love to dance, and Cancel Monday kept great dance songs playing all night long.
We were originally planning on providing our own music list, but I'm glad we didn't; their set was absolutely amazing!
Everybody I've talked to thought the band was one of the highlights of the night. "Very memorable wedding", "amazing band", "one of the best weddings I've been to".
They also did the music for the wedding ceremony too and the keyboardist worked it PERFECTLY; it was absolutely wonderful.
I hope I get another chance to book them again, because I know it'll be a terrific party.
