History
The building that now houses the Canvas Event Center was built in the mid-1950s as a warehouse. At one point in its industrial days it even served as a crane repair station. Shortly after the turn of the century, the warehouse was renovated and became a contemporary art space. From there, it became the unique wedding venue it is today.

I got married at Canvas this past August. We chose them because they allowed outside vendors (we were set on having a taco truck because tacos), they had a Saturday available, and ...
they seemed really flexible with coming in early to decorate. (It really is a blank canvas so we knew we'd need to spruce it up quite a bit!)
The owner was really nice and seemed super down to earth with it all; even gave us a discount if we chose Canvas within 3 days.
The second time we met with them the owner acted as if she never said anything she had previously promised. She said we couldn't actually come in early to decorate, that we'd have to pay all this money, etc. It was a breakdown moment for this bride for sure. Then she acted very short the rest of the time we worked with her. She just kept saying that they're unlike any venue, offer way more, etc.
Other cons:
-It doesn't come with ANY tables or chairs. They have a company you can rent through but it's very expensive.
-The recommended DJ was terrible--didn't listen to my husband or I when we begged them to turn off a song that had multiple cuss words in it--which we explicitly said we didn't want.
-The catering staff showed up to set up on the day of the wedding an hour and a half late. My family and friends ended up setting up tables/chairs for a 250 person wedding.
-They promised AC but when we got there it was extremely hot especially in the rooms where you get ready.
Pros:
-You can stay as late as 2 AM- great for long dance parties like we wanted.
-You can decorate pretty much how you want.
-It's a big venue and great for a cocktail vibe.
Overall, my wedding day was amazing but all of these things were very frustrating to deal with and I would be careful before choosing this venue! If you have no budget limitations and can do whatever want decor wise, it's a fun place to play with. But you've got your work cut out for you!
