This knowledge and understanding of the destinations spark many detailed questions that I feel are important to be answered so I am not wasting anyones time. Almost every tour operator that I am partnered with will also ask for names as they appear on passports and DOB if you wish for flights/ trains to be included. I have no idea of budget and preference in hotels.( luxury/moderate/ budget) I would ask if you have traveled to Europe and to what extent? I love the exploring food and wine tours but unsure if you prefer private, small group or large group tours? Do you have a budget in mind and/are you flexible on dates? These questions I presented will create a conversation that helps me qualify clients to the perfect getaway. Any travel agent that will present an itinerary or package to you is not seasoned or qualified in my opinion. Now in saying these comments, I feel comfortable working toward meeting your needs and wishes by sending you packages without information. If this is your preference in getting started then I kindly ask for a $250 “Plan To Go” Deposit for the additional layers of work up front to show good faith that your intentions are to move forward with my services. The $250 deposit will be submitted back to your honeymoon at the final payment date. A contract with all the details of the “ Plan to go” deposit will be emailed to you for review and sign. If I cannot meet your needs and you find a better package from a competitor that I cannot match or beat then your deposit will be refunded. If you could have provided 30 minutes of your time in a meeting over the phone, I would have been able to ask pertinent questions to qualify you to the appropriate hotels and create a unique individualized honeymoon package. This is best practice and I never would have requested a “Plan to Go” deposit because I feel confident I can offer a fantastic honeymoon suggestion to meet your needs! Instead the request was to put my name to a suggested Honeymoon Package without any info. Therefore, my thoughts are you are not really serious about working with me or your shopping between travel agents. Since busy agencies need to feel valued and stay focused on serious clients, it is best practice for agencies affiliated with Signature consortium and/or other reportable consortiums to express our time/training and devotion to all clients, especially honeymooners, that our time and service is valuable. A “Plan to Go” contract is a way to show commitment in a working relationship. I do not blame you or anyone who does not understand the hard work that occurs in the Travel Agent market. We must always travel and take trainings to keep up with all the changes and nuances. Hold all of our partners accountable and build strong relationships to ensure you are qualified to the best “package”. I commend the other travel agencies you referred to in this thread who can provide great packages without ever talking to you. I am not that talented nor should I want to be! I want to build relationships with all my clients on a personal level with hopes you return and tell your friends. In closing, there are no hard feelings, just a misunderstanding on what travel agents do for all of our clients. I wish you and your fiancé a fantastic and memorable honeymoon.
