We had our wedding here in 8/2023 and it was PERFECT! The view is one of the best in the City. Vanessa and Bridget's teams made everything go so smoothly which let me enjoy my day without any worry. They were very responsive to emails and were very organized during every meeting. The food was excellent and I received many compliments from my guests about the food. Also getting to have our cocktail hour in the 2nd floor exhibit with liquids nitrogen cocktails was a huge hit with our guests. I really wouldn't change a thing about my wedding and absolutely loved this venue and staff.
Everyone at the Science Center was wonderful to work with. They brought more planning and expertise to the table than we ever could have imagined. Our periodic meetings were so helpful to keep us on track and sort out what we wanted to do. Despite a weather issue in Pittsburgh, all the staff were fantastic and did everything they could to make sure things still went smoothly. The view from the reception hall is perfect, the food was delicious and our guests had a wonderful time thanks to all of the Science Center employees. We cannot imagine having had our wedding anywhere else and would choose the Science Center again in a heartbeat. Thank you!
We held our wedding at the Science Center on NYE. It was absolutely amazing! We started planning our wedding several years in advance and from the moment we first contacted the team, they were outstanding. Everyone was fast to respond to emails, willing to discuss our wants/needs, go out of their way to ensure that the event was perfect and were incredibly kind. Point View Hall is a beautiful space and with the help of our other vendors we were able to turn the space into something unique just for us. The beautiful view of the city allowed for amazing photos, not only for us, but for our guests as well. The food was outstanding and the selection was incredible. We cannot say thank you enough to each of the members of the team and will always recommend them to others!
Vanessa and Lindsey did an amazing job helping us make our wedding reception wonderful! Even through a few hiccups with construction and changes in the building, they both listened to us and worked to find the best possible solution. We received SO many compliments on the food, the gorgeous view, and the atmosphere of the reception room from our guests!
The Carnegie Science Center staff was top notch! They were Knowledgeable and very responsive. So easy to work with. They made my daughters wedding dreams a reality! The day was just perfect.
We had our wedding at the CSC in June 2019. I didn't realize I hadn't written a review yet! They were wonderful and we LOVED having our wedding there. Such an incredible, unforgettable, unique venue. The compliments from our guests were endless!
They worked with us and our wedding planner to create our unique vision, helping divide the room into two separate spaces, so we could have both the ceremony and reception in the great hall. We had our cocktail hour in the exhibition space and it was just wonderful, we had a great time and our guests loved it as well.
Our food was delicious and we were able to have a unique food stations option, to showcase our love of different kinds of ethnic foods. We were treated like royalty all day long! Also nice was the space to store our bags in and get ready in for the bridal party. Highly recommend!
We had our reception at Point View Hall. It is a fantastic venue. Initially, coordinating with the planners at the Science Center was really difficult--I was trying to book my reception venue and they were tough to get a hold of (hence the 4 star instead of 5 star review). Since then, Brigitte is now leading the way and had really great communication. The Science Center has a caterer so that eliminates the stress of another vendor choice, and they have a lot of great menu items to choose from. The appetizers were the strongest part of our meal, but the dinner entrees were good, too. We had a ton of cookies and the table looked amazing once everything was plated. They also boxed up two of each cookie for me and my husband to take home (we both ended up not even eating a cookie during our reception because we were so busy) which we thoroughly enjoyed at home. Our guests continue to rave about the reception venue. We elected to have our cocktail hour on floors 2-3 so our guests could enjoy the exhibits (air hockey, robots, basketball, bodies, etc.). The view from Point View Hall is one of a kind, and we not only loved it, but have amazing wedding photos from it, too! My husband's cousin asked if he could steal our venue for whenever he gets married and I would love to be a guest at a wedding here. I definitely recommend The Science Center and Point View Hall!
What a cool place to hold a wedding. Everyone just loved it!
From the beginning, we loved the 3D renderings of the venue before they were done with construction. We met the team from the Carnegie museums and they immediately gave us all the information and details we would need and more. They were immediate with responses with any questions that did arise during planning, they were helpful and they were truly so KIND to work with and respectful of our time as the bride and groom. The venue was BEAUTIFUL and we were so happy with the outdoor terrace for our guests to enjoy. Culinaire is the catering service used for the Carnegie museums and let me just say the food was PERFECT. I STRONGLY recommend anyone to consider this venue to host their wedding! Beautiful. Fun. Amazing views. Perfect. Thank you Carnegie Science Center!!
I cannot begin to describe how wonderful our wedding at the science center was! It is the most underrated venue in Pittsburgh. We keep receiving compliments on our ceremony and reception.
We got married in the Buhl Planetarium and it was a one of a kind ceremony. Our star show at the end wowed our guests. Our reception was on the fourth floor and was so much fun. The food is AMAZING and everything went wonderfully. Sara and Lindsey were wonderful to work with and helped the day run so smoothly.
They are opening a large reception area soon which would work for larger weddings. Plus you are right in the North Shore with a ton of hotels and things to do for guests!
In September 2017, we had a rehearsal dinner for my son and his bride on the 4th floor which included the Works Theater. We had 60+ people which included children so this space was perfect! We began at 7:00 with drinks and hors d'oeuvres on the floor area. This floor contains the young children exhibit....but not sure who had the most fun—the children or the adults! Lots of space to walk around and mingle. The children were able to play in the exhibits after dinner while the adults made toasts which was a plus. Most of the people were from out of town so it was wonderful to look down on the Ohio River from the Overlook Room and also look back to see downtown Pittsburgh. Great view. They set up high top tables but also had some low tables with chairs. We worked with Sara to coordinate the event space and Lindsey for the catering; they work well together and there were no surprises. For dinner we went into the Works Theater. Dinner was buffet; they offer a variety of menus but we were able to “mix and match” from several menus to get what we wanted. We had a number of vegans so we wanted to make sure they didn’t just eat salad! No problem! And the food was very good. We wanted to have a groom’s cake...they have a baker that I was able to work with to create it. It was a layered/ tiered cake made to look like a hiking trail with a caricature of the couple on top. (Found the cake topper on Etsy.) I didn’t have to worry about having anything delivered! And the Works Theater is wonderful! It is kind of a domed room and the neatest thing is that it has EIGHT tv monitors around the ceiling! Perfect for slide shows. While guests were eating we had a slide show looping of the bridal couple growing up and then dating. Lots of fun and you could see it from any angle......it wasn’t a “focus” that you had to stop and look at. They even provide a techie person to run whatever you want. I simply took a flash drive with the slide show. They can also play whatever music you want. You can take something like an iPod or you can sign into your Pandora or Amazon music account on their computer. Easy! They provided a microphone for toasts. All staff members were super easy to work with and very accommodating. I came from out of town and didn’t have to do a thing except decide what we wanted. Wonderful place for a party!
We held our wedding ceremony at the Planetarium at Carnegie Science Center and it was awesome! We really wanted a unique wedding and this was the perfect venue for us. We worked primarily with the Special Events Manager Sara as well as Charissa from the Planetarium itself and they were amazing to work with. They were really flexible and open to what we wanted and helped us customize the ceremony to be exactly what we wanted. We even did a "constellation ceremony," where we chose a constellation to remind us of our wedding day instead of a more traditional unity ceremony and they highlighted our constellation on the dome for us during that portion of the ceremony. Plus, the laser show at the end was super awesome! We had a completely perfect, awesome, unique, and memorable wedding ceremony which is exactly what we wanted. A HUGE thank you to the team at the Science Center for being the best and helping us pull it off!
Yep, you can have your wedding reception at the Science Center, and it will be awesome!
I am an academic, and my husband is an attorney, so we wanted to have a full on nerd wedding. We had our ceremony at Heinz Chapel and were thrilled to be able to schedule our reception at the Science Center. We worked with Sara for the event and with Lindsey for the catering. Both were organized and efficient and provided me with plenty of information and ideas for making the reception a great success. They worked with our florist to get the tables decorated and were overall very quick with communication.
They offered our wedding party space on the fourth floor with most of the activities taking place in the Works Theater, which was the perfect size for our small party. You can see, though, that they could make adjustments for larger groups. We loved having the party in the Works Theater, which included the smoke machine and giant Tesla coil. A memorable party!
I should also comment that the sound arrangements were particularly good. Instead of a first dance, my husband and I played a first duet on mandolin and clarinet. Sound check only took about five minutes, and balance was great. So happy that worked out! For music, we just hooked up my laptop to the sound system and used a Spotify playlist. No problem. I'm sure they'd be happy to work with a DJ or other make other arrangements.
For food we ordered the Regional Specialities Buffet, which was a little pork-heavy for our Muslim and Jewish guests, but that's my fault. Otherwise the food was a big hit. I especially appreciated that they helped us design a drink menu (esp. beer selection) that my guests would like.
Before the reception, they helped me arrange for admission for all my wedding guests, and I now have great pictures of my guests playing with the toys and checking out the giant train set. They also helped arrange parking in their lot, which was easy.
Our warmest thanks to the Carnegie Science Center staff!
