Poor communication- no communication weeks before wedding. They are using deposit money to fix their truck.
I booked last August for my son's May wedding and received an email 29 days before the wedding canceling due to the truck being in an accident. I understand things happen but it to...
ok another week for them to email me back and tell me they wouldn't be able to refund the $2700 i had paid until their truck is repaired and they are able to make more money, maybe in June.
This is unacceptable.
Do not recommend.
My fiancée and I hired Carolina Crust to cater our 80-person wedding scheduled for two weeks from now. When we booked them in October 2025, they were very respon...
sive, had great reviews, and were recommended by several other vendors. We were excited to have pizza at our wedding.
Unfortunately, the last time we heard from anyone at the company was January 23rd. Since then, we’ve tried calling, emailing, texting, and even sending Instagram DMs to coordinate logistics and finalize our menu, but we have received no response.
With our wedding quickly approaching, we had no choice but to pivot and secure a new caterer and bartender at the last minute.
We truly hope nothing serious has happened to anyone involved, but the lack of communication has been very concerning and difficult for us as clients. At this point, we are trying to get in contact with someone from the company regarding the return of our deposit.
While the pizza itself was excellent and Carolina Crust provided a cost-effective catering option for my wedding, I was ultimately left quite disappointed with the overall experien...
ce. The communication throughout the process was notably lacking.
I had scheduled a phone call with Maglen to confirm our menu, but she missed the call. Under normal circumstances, this would not have been a major issue; however, I had taken time off work specifically to accommodate this conversation.
During our wedding reception, held at a family friend’s small farm, an additional refrigeration truck arrived alongside the pizza truck without any prior notice or explanation. Neither my husband nor I—who had arranged and paid for the service—were introduced to anyone from the team or informed about the reason for the extra vehicle. When service began, it appeared that the team was struggling to keep up with demand, despite our confirmed guest count of 65 people.
Additionally, we expected beer on tap, yet only canned beer was made available for guests to help themselves. Later that evening, when Carolina Crust departed the venue, they accidentally drove over and cracked a large piece of a slate sidewalk. This damage was only discovered the following morning. My family friend, the farm owner, had specifically communicated parking instructions to Carolina Crust in advance, including which areas to avoid to protect the delicate slate.
I reached out via email—along with the farm owner—to address these issues, but the responses we received were defensive and dismissive, with no acceptance of responsibility. I asked for clarification regarding the unexpected truck, the timing issues during food service, and the missing beer on tap, yet the replies lacked transparency or accountability. Considering we paid approximately $6,000 for their services, this lack of professionalism was deeply disappointing.
Eventually, after persistent communication, my husband, the farm owner, and I arranged a phone call with Carolina Crust. During that conversation, they finally acknowledged that they had caused the sidewalk damage and explained that the additional truck had been necessary to store ingredients after their pizza truck had been in an accident. This information had never been disclosed to us prior to the event, despite its clear relevance to the services we had contracted.
No attempt was made to offer a partial refund or compensation for the damage. It was only during this call that we received an apology and admission of responsibility. While I understand that unforeseen issues can arise, especially during a busy wedding season—I work in the wedding industry myself—clear and proactive communication with paying clients should always be a top priority.
Unfortunately, I found Maglen, who handled email and phone correspondence, to be particularly defensive and unprofessional. Harrison, who operated the truck, did eventually offer an apology, but only after our discussion by phone. I unfortunately would not recommend Carolina Crust to folks looking to book for your wedding day.
