Carrie Kacen Artistry

held here in Scottsdale, AZ and Jess was living in Chicago. I just moved to Scottsdale two years prior and was not familiar with any wedding professionals. I did a search using TheKnot.com (which was recommended because my daughter-in-law had used it for her wedding in 2022) Carrie was one of four five - star makeup artists I contacted. She was one of the quickest to respond with clear specifics, and my favorite since she had over 15 years of star studded experience and hailed from Chicagoland. Carrie was flexible and accommodating to Jess’s schedule for her makeup and hair trial as Jess had limited options for her visits to AZ and it was done in the middle of hot July. Carrie came prepared to my home. She was prompt, professional, very friendly and kind. I immediately felt confident about my choice and after seeing Jess’s face I was confident in her ability to please my daughter, she spent time getting to know us and what my daughter had envisioned for her day. Each bridesmaid of the wedding party looked fabulous with natural looking makeup, and everyone was given special treatment and were very happy with the results. On the big day itself she was a true professional, patient, diligent with kind words and loving warmth she calmed our nerves and was attentive to our needs. If you’re looking for a makeup artist who is professional, calm under pressure, and incredibly talented, I can’t recommend Carrie Kacen enough. She helped me and my bridal party look and feel our absolute best, and I’ll be forever grateful. 

y and we got set up. I am a senior model so we were going for very natural makeup and hairstyles that showcased my hair. We had 5 different sets that day. Early part was natural looking and for outdoor active shots. Hair was down, then soft braid, then sloppy bun. Later the afternoon was more dramatic but not over the top hair and makeup. Long curls and bolder eyes and lips. Looking at the photos, the makeup and hair was just right. We had a full day and she was very helpful and was able to capture what we were looking for. Would highly recommend her and would not hesitate to call on her for further jobs.

her. Carrie actually came to my house for the demo and was so gracious, she really took the time to chat with me and learn what I wanted. I had a brunch wedding that started at 10am at a local hotel and Carrie came to my suite at 5am to do not only my hair and makeup but also my mother-in-law's as well. My wedding theme was Old Hollywood, so Carrie did winged eyeliner, to make my eyes look dramatic, as well as a bold berry lip that looked amazing. I was done at 8am, with plenty of time to do photos before the ceremony. I should mention that it was the first triple digit weekend of the year so even at 11am it was already in the mid-90's but my makeup didn't budge! It stayed in place the entire day (15 hours). Carrie was also very communicative the entire process and answered all my questions/concerns in a timely manner. If I ever need my hair and makeup done for another event, I would absolutely love to work with her again.

ut the makeup process. She did not apply concealer or foundation and my eyeliner was chunky and not straight. I contacted her and said that I will be going with another vendor and asked for some kind of refund. She declined. I paid $417 as a deposit and an additional $232. (I also then had to pay for someone to fix it before my professional photos) Seemed like I got scammed, especially since my wedding is 1 year away.

Carrie did my look for my vows and the next day for the party. My makeup looked amazing, I looked like me but better!!!! Carrie was on time, communicated and fun to work with. I need another event so I can hire and work with Carrie again.

She does a very good job of the light/ natural make-up with a splash of glam (and sparkle!). While doing my hair and make-up the day of she continuously checked in with each of us to make sure we liked what she was doing and if we wanted her to change anything. Overall, I loved working with Carrie, and would absolutely suggest her to any brides getting married in the area.

inated our meeting from out of state and the whole process was painless. Carrie arrived early, but not before messaging me to ensure that it was okay for her to get started. Before we started she reminded me to take care of some things that, as a nervous bride, I would have never thought of….like removing my bra to prevent indentations from being visible in my shoulders once I changed into my wedding dress. My hair was perfect. She incorporated a bridal comb that I had chosen, and my hair stayed in place the whole evening, even during a breezy outdoor ceremony in the Red Rocks. My makeup was natural but flawless! Not only was she professional and talented, but she was incredibly kind and great company. I eloped across the country, without any friends or family along, and it was so wonderful to spend my time before my wedding with another female. Her company was amazing. Her reassurance and comfort was amazing. Her work was amazing. If you are getting married in Arizona, I would HIGHLY suggest reaching out to Carrie. hough there was quite a bit of travel to our venue. We loved how comfortable and relaxed she made us feel and how she let us know that if we wanted any changes or adjustments, it was no problem. Working with her was so easy and we felt and looked wonderful for the ceremony. Hair and makeup lasted all night!

She helped to lighten any concerns I had and calm the stress I was feeling in planning our wedding. As someone who struggles turning control over, I was at ease letting Carrie work her magic. She helped to bring to life - the vintage Hollywood look I envisioned. She also provided hair and make-up services for 3 of my bridesmaids and my mom. All were happy and looked beautiful! am so grateful to have beautiful memories that will last a lifetime!

glued on properly and I kept getting poked in the eye by the artist which caused irritation and my eyes to water. We could not get a complete eye makeup look because of this. my liquid eyeliner was not straight and was extremely thick, not at all what the inspiration picture looked like. My makeup was not blended and I could see the foundation splotches all over my neck. I felt extremely uncomfortable the entire time. I told the artist my hair was not looking how I pictured. I was told my hair is not blonde and textured so it could not be styled the way I wanted it. All I wanted was a fancy ponytail. I asked if we could change the hairstyle because it was not working and asked her for inspiration photos. I was told to let her express herself as an artist on my hair and let her do what she needs to do. She said we should move on to makeup and go back to hair later. I couldn't even go out to eat with my friends that night with the way my makeup and hair turned out. I did not feel beautiful or heard. After expressing my concerns with Carrie, she only gave me the tip percentage back and not a refund like I requested. I do not normally write bad reviews and I am not a picky person, but this experience needed to be out there. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for someone to hear what you want for your big day. I was expecting quality service based off the pictures that were posted here and I did not receive that.

ect look. I had a trial with her that went amazing, but the wedding day look was even better! I could tell that she really thought about how to make my hair and makeup the best that it could be. I felt so confident and beautiful on my wedding day thanks to her! Another huge plus is that my makeup still looked natural instead of like a mask, which is something I was afraid of for my wedding day. Overall, Carrie is super talented, but she’s also a really fun and sweet person. She not only created a masterpiece with my hair and makeup, but she calmed my nerves during a very stressful time. I’d 110% recommend her for your wedding day (or any special event you have).
