e first discovered it while looking for hotel accommodations for our guests, and quickly realized it was not only a resort but also a gorgeous wedding venue. Coming from Dallas, what we loved most was how Carter Creek provided everything in one place—ceremony & reception spaces, catering, drinks, and housing for our 100 guests. They also recommended wonderful local vendors, making planning much easier. Truly the best “one stop shop” we found near Fredericksburg (and the best price, too!). Sara Allen, the venue’s wedding coordinator, was incredible. She helped us plan and execute our dream wedding in just 5 months. She responded quickly to every question, offered even better ideas than our own, and kept us on track with timelines and realistic expectations. She’s exactly the kind of person you want to trust with your big day. The food & drinks were amazing, especially for a buffet. We served two salads, steak, mahi mahi with mashed potatoes, and a dessert bar—everything was delicious! There was a small hiccup with the steak running low at the end of the line, but guests loved the mahi mahi just as much. Since Carter Creek is also a winery & brewery, having their wines and beers at our wedding was a big highlight. The tasting beforehand was such a fun part of the planning process. Some of our favorite pictures were taken in the vineyard onsite, with Carter Creek transporting us there by golf cart. The vineyard made for stunning photos and a unique memory. The bridal suite worked well for getting ready, and I loved being able to peek out the window to watch guests arrive. The reception space (the stage area) is fantastic—it works as both a dining hall and dance floor. We had a live musician part of the evening and then switched to a DJ, which was seamless. Since my husband & I are musicians, we also sang a duet on stage, which made the night even more special. Guests could dance under the pavilion or relax on the lawn, making it enjoyable for everyone. Another great perk was having access to the ceremony and reception spaces all day long, so we could start decorating as early as we wanted for our 6pm wedding. Another highlight was the villas. They’re laid out like a little neighborhood, and our guests had so much fun hopping from one villa to another. It created the perfect hangout spots before and after the wedding, making the whole weekend even more memorable.
