Nobody expects the fairytales they dreamed of as kids to come to life, but at Chateau Noland that is exactly what happens. In the most beautiful castle you could imagine, under the flowers and the lights and the stars, magic brings those dreams to life. With our family and friends around us, Chateau Noland was the most perfect venue we could have ever asked for on our wedding day. The staff are like family and are dedicated to helping make the vision come to life, which for us involved helping us hang beautiful lights, host a silent disco, have a unity volcano, ice cream truck and doughnut wall, and bring together an amazing party for our friends and family. Their knowledge and connections to the local wedding industry were invaluable, and the way they worked closely with us and our vendors truly made the whole weekend so smooth. Not to mention how are friends are still talking about how staying at the castle as a bridal party was such a special experience for everyone! The wedding industry can be really cookie cutter, but at Chateau Noland the entire team is there to help your celebration come to life and to help you have a wedding that fits your personality and wows your guests. A stunning, spectacular, yet serene spot for any celebration, but especially the most important celebration of your life. At Chateau Noland we found our happily ever after and found a place where all our wedding dreams came to life. And for that, we are forever grateful to the Noland family for sharing this space and for helping us to make our wedding dreams a reality. It truly is a privilege to have been married on these grounds that the family worked so hard to create and we can’t recommend it enough to any wedding venue hunters or anyone looking for a special place to celebrate with the people they love most.
*BED BUGS - December 2021*Staying at Chateau Noland (6445 Monte Rd, San Luis Obispo, CA) was a beautiful yet horrific experience for my party. After the first night, we spotted bed bugs. When the host, Dan Noland, stopped by, his reaction was "shit, we totally forgot to put the bug bags on the box spring! We had this place nuked on August 23rd." Come to find out, the Noland family has had multiple cases before ours - including a bed bug case in May of 2021 by one of their workers... Who lived on-site.
Initially, Dan wanted to play off the bed bug situation: "Hotels deal with this all the time! They're just little bugs." When confronted by the entire group staying at the property, he agreed to either 1) refund our entire stay at the castle in full or 2) find us alternative accommodations. Instead, we received a text stating "I'd like you to stay", which we agreed to since we were already exposed, but requested an alternative room arrangement on the property. In following up with Dan and Sabrina Noland, they have not honored their agreement to refund us and have refused to give us our money back even through a formal Airbnb request. Futhermore, we know that guests are staying at the property after us per an exchange with the host when leaving. Even though there are confirmed bed bugs on the property!
We also shared the bed bug news with Airbnb within 24 hours of the incident to abide by their Guest Refund Policy. Despite sharing pictures of bed bugs and the bites we have received, Airbnb has refused to refund us and is still allowing the listing to operate on their platform. BE WARNED!
Other problems included 1) the child in the group developed a cough and sniffles due to cold air since the window in the side room could not be closed (it was broken and open) and there was no space heater until the following morning when the host stopped by to see the bed bugs, 2) amenities including the grill outside were not working properly - there was no propane tank until the host brought one on the second day, 3) part of the party chose to fly home the second day due to the bed bug infestation, 4) most of our Saturday plans were canceled.
This is a family business run by the children of the man who built Castle Noland. The "new management" referred to in other post responses is actually Dan Noland - the son of the man who built the property. I would not recommend you stay here.
Castle Noland is a beautiful venue to host your event. We booked Castle Noland for our intimate wedding ceremony of 85 guests. The owner, Chad, has also been very responsive and understanding, especially with the events surrounding COVID and we truly appreciate his efforts in working with us through it all. Castle Noland is a tucked away gem in a prime location with plenty of parking. Plus, you have the option to stay on the premises and there is more flexibility to create your vision on this property than at other venues.
I am so happy I picked this venue for my wedding!! It was absolutely beautiful and the fact that the wedding party stayed there was amazing!
The castle is SO BEAUTIFUL! Inside and out the property is gorgeous! We had our rehearsal dinner on property since my mom had rented the property for the wedding party the weekend of the wedding and the grassy courtyard was perfect for the event!
