We can’t say enough good things about Cate and why she is simply the best photographer you could find. We are delighted with the photographs from our wedding. We received a huge sneak peak just 5 days after our wedding. Cate’s photos beautifully capture all of the warmth and joy and wonderful moments of the day. More than that, Cate brings a great energy with her. She is an absolute professional when it comes to managing time and large, unruly families. She is also a fun, calming, easy presence to have around on a day with a lot going on. Her second shooter Kieran was equally professional and took some truly phenomenal photos of the groomsmen. Cate’s dedication to making wedding photography inclusive and comfortable for everyone truly shows through in her photographs. We can’t recommend her enough for your engagement shoot, wedding, or life moments.

Working with Cate Barry was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. I reached out to Cate with a pretty last minute request and she promptly responded and was able to assist me. I explained my vision to her for the event/ photos and the final product exceeded my expectations. She was able to really understand what I was looking for and captured our special moments so beautifully and naturally. We are so happy that we stumbled upon Cate and her work. She was the first vendor we booked and she set the bar SO high. We did our engagement photos as well as our wedding photos with her. From the very first video call through our wedding, she made us feel at ease and was a steadying, joyful presence. As people who never felt really comfortable being photographed, we were so grateful for her reassurance, professionalism, excellent instruction and enthusiasm. That's not to even mention the final results! Our photos are STUNNING and we could not be happier. If you have any doubts, book Cate. You will be so happy you did.

Where to start. My now wife and I had Cate as our photographer for our 09/23/23 wedding in Madison, CT. We were introduced by Regina, our wonderful wedding planner who runs Weddings by Regina Marie. After one meeting with us, Regina said "even if we don't end up working together, I think Cate would be the perfect photographer for you." Boy oh boy - was she right! Meeting Cate online was like talking to an old friend - one who sees you and helps you feel seen (even virtually, as we live in Denver and not CT). During our first conversation, I shared with Cate my hesitation around having my photo taken in general. We both wanted the day captured in an honest, candid, and warm way, but my mental health challenges associated with body image made it less than simple. Cate received this with open ears and arms. We felt overwhelmingly confident in our choice to book even before we had met Cate and even before we had seen the photos she would take. Fast forward to the week of our wedding. Since we do not live on the east coast, we ended up having our "engagement shoot" a few days before the actual wedding. The experience was an extension of the first meeting - like spending time with an old friend who happened to have a camera. We laughed and told stories and left feeling calm and happy. In the days that followed, first off - Cate somehow managed to take these photos for us on Wednesday and have the final gallery to us on FRIDAY so that we could have them before our wedding. And even more importantly and as I told Cate, I had never felt more confident or beautiful than I did looking at those photos. The day of our wedding, Cate and her second photographer were timely, flexible, and clearly so happy to be around while we got ready -- and of course, for the big event! It rained throughout the day and Cate managed to not only adjust plans on the spot to get us some beautiful outdoor photos, but also somehow became part of what kept us calm when we were feeling overwhelmed by the unpredictable changes of the day. During the ceremony and reception, she was somehow everywhere and nowhere at the same time. They fit seamlessly into the event and we were very sad to say goodbye. Cate sent the sneak peak within weeks of the wedding and the full gallery only shortly thereafter. When I tell you that my wife and I sobbed our way through the galleries, I am not exaggerating. Cate and her team are absolutely spectacular at what they do. They captured the essence of the day, the love, the joy, the debauchery, and the connective moments with such clarity -- it feels like we are able to watch our wedding in stills. We will never not be grateful.

I will start my review with this: Cate is the reason we chose a wedding date and began to plan our wedding. The only thing I knew for sure we wanted on our wedding day, was Cate photographing us and she exceeded every expectation we had. From day 1, she put our mind at ease of her entire process and timeline. She made recommendations that 100% fit our personalities and vibe. We are not people that know how to be photographed, we are awkward and silly. Cate celebrated the silliness and helped us not feel awkward at all. Before our wedding, we snuck away to take 1 on 1 photos, and it was such a gift she gave us. A few moments of peace and love before the real celebrating began. HUGE SHOUTOUT to her second shooter as well, they had such amazing attention to detail (caught that I had my hair tie still on my wrist LMAO) After our posed shots on our wedding day, I feel l didn't see Cate or her assistant for a long time because they melded into the background and caught so many amazing beautiful candid photos that I treasure so much already. Cate went above and beyond for us. She had fun with us, laughed with us, encouraged us when we felt awkward, and made us feel so special. She even knew how to capture the attention of our three dogs for a family pic. Thank you Cate and team! If I could give you a million stars and planets, I would. <3

Cate nailed our wedding photographs. She matched her skills to our needs, and her energy with ours for a small ceremony in Connecticut and was a pleasure to work with. The final photos are grand, collaborating with her in the moment was natural and the preparatory and business work was swift and pleasant, coordinated by the photographer herself.

Cate is incredible! She photographed our wedding in June of 2023 as well as our engagement shoot in May of 2022. Two of the main reasons we hired her were because of her intense inclusivity of the LGBTQ+ community and her candid photography style. She was not uncomfortable at all with us as an LGBTQ+ couple in front of the camera, which made us more comfortable too, and she was able to capture such special moments throughout the day that photographers who focus on posed and “traditional” wedding shots wouldn’t have. Our engagement shoot was the first formal photoshoot we had ever done together as a couple, and once we told Cate this, she did such a good job at giving us direction on how to pose and where to look. She even has certain prompts of things that, for example, she had one of us whisper into the others’ ear to elicit certain emotions. Our top priority in our engagement shoot was variety, since we wanted to use the photos for our save the dates, our website, etc., and Cate took that priority very seriously. We shot at a park with a ton of different backgrounds/vibes and even did an outfit change mid-way through. The day of our wedding, Cate came prepared with notes and a plan. She arrived on time and stayed on time throughout the day. She captured all the shots we asked her for specifically, plus a lot of special ones we weren’t expecting. She did an especially good job taking the large family photos we asked for, even with a whole bunch of people running in different directions! She also brought on a second shooter who had an incredibly similar style to hers, which was great for consistency across our photos from the day. If you’re looking for a calm, passionate, detail-oriented photographer with a knack for catching the small, intimate moments throughout your wedding day (in addition to the big, exciting ones of course), Cate is your person!

We loved working with Cate and highly recommend her as a wedding photographer!! Something we really appreciated about her right away was that she wanted to get to know us both as people and really wanted to understand our vision for our wedding. We had an engagement photoshoot with her, which also gave us a chance to get to know each other and she gave us lots of prompts and creative ways to feel comfortable in the photos which made the session really fun! On the day of the wedding, Cate and her assistant Mimi were so supportive, flexible, and fun to work with! They captured intimate and emotional moments of our wedding as well as the general landscape/ layout of the wedding, which was exactly what we wanted. Something we really appreciated about Cate is her ability to capture the emotions and interactions among people and we really like that she took photos of the typical wedding moments (first dance, etc) as well s the more unique moments (the kids playing, the flowers, guests emotional reactions, etc). She also sent us a sneak peek video slideshow of the wedding photos only about a week after the wedding which we enjoyed sharing with our guests. Many of our guests have commented on how much they like the photos and also on Cate’s positive and unobtrusive presence during the wedding. She is not only a highly skilled and creative photographer, but she is also a genuinely caring and very inclusive person who strives to capture all people authentically and joyfully through her photographs.

I would give 6 stars! Cate and her team were more than I could hope for! I am not one that enjoys posing for pictures. She made it so easy and fun. Her team was not intrusive during the wedding, and we received such great photos back. My wife and I were so happy with the entire experience!

Hands down the best photographer I've worked with. A year before my wedding, I was a bridesmaid in my cousins. That's where I met Cate. I knew as soon as the sneak peak came in, I had to book her! She went above and beyond for our special day. From the engagement session to our crazy wedding day, she and her crew were there EVERY step of the way. She helped with time line and suggested photo ideas. She captured everything we could have asked for. Typically, I'm the family photographer/videographer so choosing someone was very important to me. *side note* three days after our wedding my dad passed away. I contacted Cate asking for a few pictures for his funeral video and within minutes she sent me a handful! From the bottom of our hearts we were so grateful to meet Cate and share the wedding experience. *Since the wedding, I have also used her for personal portraits too!

Cate and her assistant Kieran were an absolute joy and made us feel like superstars. Very LGBTQ friendly and easy to work with. Cate was flexible with the packages, quality shows so it’s worth it highly recommend.

I cannot possibly say enough good things about Cate and her team. Throughout all of the chaos, stress and changes of plans with the wedding itself, Cate provided me and my wife a sense of comfort and peace. She has such a calming, yet confident presence which reassures you that everything will work out as it should - allowing you to relax and enjoy the magic of your day. Cate was awesome. She was so nice and easy-going. She took her time when we spoke about our ideas and she really made us feel like we were on the right track during planning, which is super helpful during a time of a lot of decision making. We were lucky to hire Cate for two nights. She came to our rehearsal dinner and took big family photos, which came out amazing. Then, the next day she shot our wedding. Cate and her staff were wonderful. They were professional and so kind. Getting the engagement photos taken was also a huge plus. It was great to meet Cate in a more relaxed setting beforehand. She even traveled to Boston, where we live. I highly recommend Cate to anyone who looking for a wedding photographer. She was easily our favorite vendor. Amazing photos and really awesome person!

Cate is amazing!! My wife and I booked her for our wedding and we honestly could not have asked for a better experience. She was so easy to work with from day 1 and she did such a great job of making us feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. Cate is truly talented, from her warm personality to her artistic eye, she’s everything you need to capture the biggest day in your life. When choosing a photographer it is so important to pick someone who you feel comfortable with because they’re essentially spending the whole day with you, and from our first phone call I knew she was the one! You won’t find anyone more passionate and thoughtful than her. Even when we had a small blunder at the venue she stepped in and helped us out without hesitation. Cate really was a dream to work with. I am camera shy and really wanted to keep the posted photos to a minimum. She was able to help me make sure I didn’t miss any shots with family and still enjoy myself. The pictures are so perfect and she really captured how happy of a day it was.

It's hard to put into words how amazing Cate and her team was at our wedding in July 2022 and throughout the whole process. From the first zoom call with Cate we knew she was the photographer for us - she was warm, inviting, genuine and really wanted to get to know us. From there we never looked back. Cate was open to helping with all "problems" during wedding planning, we definitely leaned on her for advice related to photography and not because she has seen it all. I cannot thank her enough for listening to our silly ramblings, offering advice and helping to iron out details to make sure our day ran as smooth as possible. I even included a thoughtful piece of advice she gave us in my vows because it was that meaningful. The actual wedding day was a complete dream. I'm sure Cate makes all of her clients feel like superstars but from the moment she arrived she was my hype woman - I already felt great about the day but Cate just took it to the next level. Her entire team made our day absolutely perfect. Cate had such an impact on us that by the time we got to the wedding we could not imagine her not being there, she truly rounded out the day and gave us the best gift of all - pictures that we will treasure for the rest of our life! I would not hesitate to hire Cate again for any of life's big occasions and I hope we are able to!

Cate and her crew were phenomenal! We met Cate and saw her work firsthand at a friend’s wedding. The photos came out so well that we hired Cate for ours, and they came out great as well. Cate is an incredibly kind and warm person with a great eye. Not only did they catch the right shots, but the post-processing was really great too. Cate has an eye for contrast and color. At our wedding, two of our dear friends are professional sports photographers and they were commenting very positively on everything Cate was doing too. You can't go wrong - THANK YOU!

Working with Cate was one of the best decisions my partner and I made while planning our wedding, and we absolutely could not have asked for a better experience. Cate completely understood what we wanted and worked with us to create a plan to ensure we captured the moments that were most important to us. On the day of, Cate ensured that everyone (my partner and I, our friends, our family) felt comfortable, calm, and seen in front of the camera. Not only did this make the whole experience feel more enjoyable, it resulted in gorgeous photos that capture genuine warmth and joy.

Cate is absolutely amazing. We worked with her for our engagement and wedding photos and I highly recommend her. We also had the pleasure of a second photographer, Kieran, for our wedding, They are top notch photographers. They were punctual, got every shot we asked for and more, and are both so easy to get along with. We hate getting our pictures taken, but Cate makes it so fun that we are eager to book more sessions with her in the future. She is especially amazing with the LGBTQ+ community, which was so important for us. If you are looking for the best photographer, she is the one you need.

Hiring Cate is the best thing you can possibly do for your wedding. Throughout the entire process Cate was incredibly personable, warm, and fun -- while being extremely professional, competent, and very very good at what she does. My wife and I feel so fortunate that we have such beautiful photos that really capture all of the moments and feelings at our wedding. We are already trying to figure out another excuse to have our photos taken so we can work with Cate again!

I truly can’t recommend Cate highly enough. When my wife and I were looking for wedding photographers I kept thinking that so many of the pictures looked either like stock photos or the Goodfellas poster, and Cate perfectly matched the exact opposite of that energy. We literally rescheduled our wedding around her availability and would do it again in a heartbeat. She was a delight to work with; if she weren’t photographing the wedding, we probably would have invited her as a guest after the first few times we chatted over Zoom. And the pictures, of course, were incredible—both in quality and in sheer numbers. Five stars, 10/10, no notes.

In addition to being a wonderful photographer, Cate has an extraordinary sensitivity and empathy that allows her to bring out the best from all of her subjects. They simply shine in the photos Cate takes. It was a GREAT experience working with her (and we did so over the course of over a year given Covid postponements). We cannot speak too highly about Cate.

I could not be happier with how my photos came out. As a 2021 bride, I had both a small, intimate ceremony and a reception full of friends and family. Cate captured both in such a way that when I look back at my photos I get to experience all of those emotions again. So professional and easy to communicate with! I cannot recommend Cate and her team enough.

Cate accommodated us with very short notice (a month!) and I honestly wouldn’t have wanted anyone else. She was so incredibly kind, calming, and perfect for the couple whose not used to being in front of the camera. Her sneak peek gallery brought us to tears and we will book her for future sessions in a heartbeat. AMAZING!

Cate is AMAZING! I literally could not recommend her more highly. Cate takes wonderful photos (honestly one of my friends described Cate's photos of our wedding as "magazine quality nice photos") and she's also a true delight to work with. I'm not typically very comfortable being photographed (especially when professional photographers and poses are involved). So when my partner and I started talking about wedding photography, we knew we had to do some research to find a photographer who would make us feel comfortable. Thanks to the wonders of Google, we found Cate and we are SO glad we did! Cate made us feel so comfortable during our entire experience with her - from the introductory phone call to the engagement shoot to the wedding photos. Cate made us feel fully seen, heard, and respected throughout all of our interactions with her and even made the photo shoot process FUN (something I never thought I'd say about the experience of having a photographer take lots of photos of me). Cate Barry is AMAZING at what she does! Her photos are so beautiful, and she truly has a talent for capturing real emotion and moments of connection between people. On top of that, she is so kind, genuine, and fun. My husband is not at all comfortable when cameras come out, and hates having his photo taken. Through her own brand of magic, Cate was able to get so many photos of his real smiles and expressions, and he felt relaxed and comfortable the whole time. When my husband and I look at Cate's photos of us, we can see and feel all the emotions we had in those moments, and we're not in the standard or cliched poses, we just look like us, having fun and being in love in a gorgeous setting. If you are looking for beautiful candid photos that center emotion and show you authentically, and a photographer with crazy talent, true professionalism, and infectious enthusiasm, I would 110% recommend Cate Barry!

Cate is an absolute gem of a photographer and of a human! Our wedding photos came out absolutely stunning! The entire process was very easy-- we had a few different planning calls and all payments were all online. She was incredibly responsive throughout the whole process. Most of all, Cate helped to make us feel absolutely at ease and comfortable on our wedding day. It's easy to feel out of place as an LGBTQ couple navigating the wedding industry, but she made everything feel natural and effortless. So so glad we went with her. Would recommend her to any couple.

The best thing you can do for your wedding is book Cate! I think she might be a witch, she's that good. She put everyone at ease (even those most reluctant to be photographed), and is just such a delightful human. And the pictures she captured were MAGIC! We couldn't be more in love with them. Since she focuses so much on joyful candids, it's priceless to see our friends and families reactions in the moments that we couldn't see in person. All of my bridesmaids from Florida want to fly her down to do their future weddings. My dad (who hates being photographed, and almost never smiles for them) said he wants her to do his funeral - that's a compliment, trust me, even though it's a very weird one. Cate, you are the absolute best!

My wife and I can't say enough wonderful things about Cate Barry. To say she is a dream, would be a total understatement! We found Cate in the most serendipitous way, after a year of COVID cancellations and back and forth vendor rescheduling we connected with Cate and quickly realized that she was absolutely the person we wanted to capture our most special and intimate day. We spoke to Cate multiple times leading up to our wedding. It was instant chemistry and we both felt that she just "got us". The day of our wedding was both stressful and exciting and Cate and her amazing assistant really put Jessy and I at ease with their calm demeanor. She was able to expertly navigate our formal photos as well as make sure we were able to enjoy our day with our guests, making everything seamless. Next came the photos, we were absolutely blown away at the amount of amazing pictures Cate was able to capture throughout the day. They are memories we will cherish forever and we are forever grateful to have found such an amazing photographer!

TL:DR - Cate is the absolute best wedding photographer and she was a joy to work with every step of the way. As anyone reading this review already knows, looking for wedding vendors is not an easy task. Not only do you have to find folks that are available, but you need to navigate the waters of having the right fit to capture your special day. We originally had contracted with another vendor to do both video and photography, but thankfully that vendor double-booked us and bailed. When Cate first reached out I could tell that she really cared about us. She asked about us as a couple, what this day meant to us, what our story was, and what our vision for the day was. Most vendors we spoke with got right to business talking about pricing and packages, and it was all very transactional. Not once did we ever feel like Cate cared about anything more than helping us make the right choice to capture the day. Working with Cate was a delight from start to finish. She was organized, on-time, and always calm + collected during some of the more hectic moments. Not only did she help us get all the family pictures we wanted, she kept us so efficient that we even had time for more photos we didn’t think we would have time for. Cate was gracious with her time and even more gracious in her follow through. We received our photos quickly, and they were nothing short of perfection in every single way. I cannot recommend Cate enough, and want to thank her so much for being such a wonderful person to work with. Thank you so much, Cate!

There are not enough amazing things in the world to say about Cate. Not only is she genuinely a kind human being, but she is extremely professional and responsive. She talked me down from my wedding pic anxiety, and was wonderful when dealing with my ~spirited~ family and friends. Cate provided me, my wonderful new husband, and our family with the perfect balance of what felt natural and providing artistic direction, which I can’t imagine is an easy feat. If you are looking for wedding photos that elicit an immense amount of emotion and happiness, that are going to be handled by someone who feels the importance of the occasion right alongside you: this is the person to go with. We are already looking for another excuse to work with her!

I was lucky enough to meet Cate at a friend's wedding, and after chatting with her and then seeing the photos from that wedding, I knew I wanted to hire her for ours. I am by no means a model, and I'm more often than not taking photos rather than posing for them. So to find a photographer who made me not only comfortable in front of the camera, but made me excited to have my photo taken is pretty special. Cate was also super flexible regarding the scheduling of our wedding: our original wedding date was in August 2020, then we changed it to August 2021, and finally we changed plans completely and had a small wedding in May 2021. Throughout the process, Cate was encouraging, reassuring, and enthusiastic. I can't imagine our wedding being nearly as successful without her. In addition to being our photographer, she was our ally and has become a true friend.

As a queer couple, it was important to us to have a photographer who understood gay magic. We didn’t want staged, posed, traditional photos because that’s not who we are and not what life (and marriage) is about. Cate’s photos of our wedding captured the beauty of genuine laughing faces, vulnerability of a hand gripping a speech behind his back, and the honesty of candid moments between friends. Hiring Cate was the SECOND best decision I made that day!

Cate was amazing shooting our engagement session! We went into it not really knowing what to expect and pretty nervous. She had us laughing and having a blast in no time. This was such a fun shoot and the pictures came out beautiful! The only reason we aren't using her for our wedding is that she was already booked that day :(

Cate took beautiful photos and was so much fun to work with. We are not picture people and we were nervous to do an engagement shoot but we actually had so much fun! Cate made the shoot easy and comfortable. Our time flew by and was filled with laughter and sweet, tender moments that Cate artfully captured. Our goal was to have engagement photos that captured us - all parts of us and our relationship, even the pieces that other's may not see and with Cate, we achieved that 100%!

Cate is AMAZING! Scott and I first met her through a friend and did a couples shoot. She made us feel so comfortable and the pictures came out so beautifully! When we got engaged, there wasn’t even a question as to who would be our photographer. We NEEDED her!! I cannot speak highly enough of her work ethic, ability to make us feel comfortable and the true talent she has as a photographer. I’ve recommended multiple friends to her as well and they all love her. I’ll continue to recommend her to anyone and everyone I can! You will not be disappointed! The quality of her work and beautiful pictures speak for themselves!

We had a wonderful time with Cate and really enjoyed our experience. She directed us to take candid poses and was also fully open with our goofy ideas. We look forward to working with her again with part 2 of our wedding. Overall, her work exemplified her professionalism. Our October 2020 wedding was postponed a year, but we couldn't wait to get married, so our mothers put together the most beautiful intimate backyard wedding for our immediate families. I originally told them that hiring a photographer was not necessary for such a small event but boy was I wrong!! Cate made our day so incredibly special from our very first encounter with her all the way through post event. First, she recommended a Zoom call to get to know us/our families and lay out an agenda for the day, including a portrait list. When she arrived to the house she was patient, flexible, professional, kind, and overall just lovely, bringing such a light to the day. She was encouraging, making me feel like the most beautiful bride, and very thoughtful, knowing exactly which shots to recommend. Cate is extremely generous. Her pricing is more than fair for the quality of service, she even stayed a bit longer than contracted and did not charge extra. When I decided to order a portrait she delivered it to my parents 20 minutes away to avoid shipping costs. Cate is talented!! The photos are TO DIE FOR! My mom and MIL did such an amazing job setting up the most beautiful day and Cate captured it all wonderfully, not just the setting but the joy. She then set up another zoom to walk us through our options for prints and albums. Her level of attention to customer service and ease of communication is unmatched. 11/10

Cate made our small Covid-ized wedding a memorable experience! While is was only a few guests and the ceremony was short and sweet she made sure to remind my husband and I to savor the special moments. This truly made all the difference! I never felt awkwardly posed or uncomfortable, much the opposite actually! Lots of laughs and love all around. For the short time Cate was with us we have hundreds of pictures! These pictures truly captured the feeling of the day, all of the candid moments. I feel transported back to our special day every time I look through them. Her work is pure magic! I can't recommend her enough!

We had the most amazing engagement shoot with Cate! She was willing to travel to our preferred site, was timely and super professional. She was able to capture our love in a way I never thought possible, making us laugh and even cry, bringing out a tenderness we don’t show often outside of our home. Working with Cate was a dream come true. She did our engagement photos and our wedding. We loved her work so much that when we had to reschedule our wedding due to COVID, we picked our new date around her! Cate incorporates lots of natural movement into her photo sessions, which helps even those of us who feel awkward being in front of the camera feel more comfortable. The photos she made of our wedding not only perfectly capture the spirit of our wedding, but are beautiful works of art. She asked us in advance of the wedding about important aspects of the ceremony and other details that we wanted documented and sure enough, she got them all beautifully. She thinks about everything - from detail shots, to sunlight, to wind, to family dynamics, to COVID personal-space boundaries. The second-shooters she works with are also top-notch people and photographers as well. Nothing about her work cheesy or cliche like so much out there in the wedding industry. Trust me when I say that the BEST decision you'll make is booking Cate! Not only is she crazy talented, but she has a natural warmth and the kindest demeanor that puts you right at ease and ensures she is capturing who you are as a couple. As much as we wanted them, my fiancé and I were nervous for engagement pictures because we are anything but naturals in front of a camera. But Cate ensured we were comfortable and having SO much fun! And our pictures show it. We couldn't be more thrilled! I mean it when I say you don't have to look any farther because Cate is the best photographer you could ask for! Couldn't recommend her more!!

My wife and I did a photoshoot with Cate for our fifth wedding anniversary. She is amazing to work with and really put us at ease. We were worried about figuring out poses and things, but she gave us super-specific directions that led to absolutely magical photos. As a queer couple, we love that she found ways to position us that didn't play into gender stereotypes. I especially love how her directions actually helped us connect with each other — all the emotions in the photos are genuine, and it's so gratifying to have photos that feel like they really reflect who we are individually and as a couple. Cate is the bomb!

Cate is a wonderful person, and a phenomenal photographer. Cate took the photos for our engagement session first, and I have never felt so comfortable so quickly in front of a camera. As members of the LGBT community I was apprehensive about finding a photographer that i wouldn’t feel weird being photographed by. But Cate has a way with making you comfortable without making anything awkward. Everything is genuine, not staged, and candid. Cate then photographed our wedding and truly they’re some of my favorite photos of my wife and I together. Thank you Cate, you’re amazing.

Cate Berry was awesome! We had planned on a certain date and due to COVID had to push it off multiple times to which she was very understanding and flexible. We picked the place and she showed up early to scout out the location so when we got there she had ideas of the areas that would work best for us. I was also 8 months pregnant and she was nice enough to include some maternity pictures. She was super easy to talk to and because we are armatures she helped us with poses, arm placements, and background/natural lighting. We were super pleased with the results and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for high quality, affordable engagement/wedding photos.

Cate is an awesome photographer and even better human!! She was very fun to work with and made me and my fiancee feel totally comfortable during our photo shoot. My husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to have a small wedding this year. We were supposed to get married in California but relocated to CT and met Cate through my sister in law who is a wedding planner. I have to say Cate was the BEST photographer I've ever met. She got people laughing and found joy in every moment and captured each one. The pictures we received made our wedding day, I can not say enough about her. She has a beautiful eye gets the beautiful candids and you can actually feel the love and like your in the moment in the picture, they actually speak 1000 words. Our family loved her and couldn't say enough about how comfortable they were. She made my husband and I smile like no other. I highly recommend her and will absolutely be using her for all my future photo sessions! She made our day so special and even more so with memories that will last a lifetime!

Neither myself nor my fiancé has ever felt particularly comfortable in front of camera. Cate has officially turned us into models! We both felt completely at ease, spent most of our engagement session laughing and hugging and kissing and just having the most wonderful afternoon with each other. Cate is a wonderful human and talented photographer. We really enjoyed working with her for our wedding and engagement pictures! :-) Cate worked with us to find a level of comfort for both of us with taking pictures. She followed our lead, and although one of us was not very comfortable with being in front of a camera, Cate put us at ease and was able to capture great shots. From the engagement pictures to staged family pictures and candid photos throughout the party, her pictures were all really great. As a queer couple it was also important to us to find a photographer in the community who really understood us and our unique situation. Aside from the beautiful pictures we also felt validated and taken care of as humans, which is so important on such a special day.

I don't know if I can begin to express how pleased my husband and I were with Cate Barry! We had Cate photograph us for both our engagement session and wedding. My husband is notorious for not being able to take a picture with his eyes open; he is also unbelievably shy. We knew Cate was the one when we left our session and he could not stop talking about how much fun he had. And that is what is so great about Cate-- she is so nurturing, calming, funny, validating. My friends and family are still talking about how wonderful she was to work with and made them feel, as well. Cate shot our wedding back in May 2018. I believe we were the first wedding she took on, but the pictures were so great that it looked like she had been doing it 20+ years. She was extremely organized and made sure we got all the photos we needed. The thing I appreciated most was how comfortable she made us feel during both the engagement session and our wedding day. Neither me or my wife are very photogenic, but Cate really got to know us and was able to direct us during the shoots to make us look great.

We loved working with Cate! My wife and I are queer, so it was important for us to find a photographer who would affirm, not just tolerate us. With Cate, we found so much more: someone who truly saw us, celebrated the uniqueness of our love, and intuitively understood our individual gender identities. It brought us so much joy to be photographed on our wedding day by someone who valued all of who we are -- and it comes through in our photos! Our third anniversary is coming up and as I revisited our photos, I was reminded of the joy of not just having her pictures afterwards, but the true kindness and care she brought to the weekend. Katie shot most of our candids for our wedding weekend in California. She is incredibly talented, infinitely patient, brought light into every space she occupied, and she LISTENS to people, not just hears them. She has a unique ability to capture the heart and soul behind every shot. There were so many joyous and beautiful moments she captured that we didn’t even realize happened—and we can *feel* the things our friends and family felt in those moments just from the pictures. She gave us the greatest gift we could have asked for: Seeing US and making sure our pictures reflected that.
