but few could accomodate the varied menu that we wanted for our wedding. The Deco had incredible variety and boasted the use of fresh seasonal ingredients. I was worried about quality when it came to serving so many options, but each dish was as impressive as the last.
We set up a tasting a year before our event. The building was small and a little industrial; it was clean but didn't feel very inviting. They brought us the food that we had selected to try in advance, and left us to sample in peace. Everything was incredible. Foods ranged from "this is good but not my style" to "I'm still dreaming about those phyllo mushroom triangles." Staff returned to get our opinions, talk options, and pack up our leftovers for us. It felt wrong to leave a "restaurant" without paying for our meal, but there was no charge. I very much appreciate the chefs cooking so many things for just two people to try. We left knowing this would be our caterer.
Communication was decent overall. Employees were friendly and knowledgeable, but replies would get a little slower during their busy season. Some things we had talked about during the tasting didn't get written down, and we ended up having to piece together some of our decisions from memory. They were patient and answered all of our questions but there were still a few small errors and miscommunications during both the planning and the event. They were quick to manage and accomodate any issues that came to their attention, but tiny things here and there would slip by.
The staff on wedding day worked hard and took care of everything within their power to take care of. We had some initial preferences that needed going over again, as it sounded like communication between them and home base staff was also a little incomplete. Again, a few small errors and miscommunications but no major issues or tragedies.
I realize I have been pretty vague in this review regarding any specific errors, but I didn't feel they were important nor relevant enough to post publicly. However, I'm happy to share privately if The Deco or potential customers are interested. All of my guests were impressed by the delicious food, and were none the wiser about any little errors. The day was a huge success, and I would hire The Deco again.
Bonus: One of the staff caught me sneaking back into the building to nosh cupcakes before my guests found me again. Bless them for minding their business. I wish you happiness, good fortune, and a cupcake. <3

egan options. It came with breadsticks, salad, and protein choices, which made it feel like a complete meal. The cake was delicious, and they also offered a vegan/GF chocolate mousse that was a big success. We added three appetizers (spanakopita, bacon-wrapped dates, and potato bites with dill sour cream), all of which were quickly eaten, plus a late-night pretzel and cheese bar that everyone raved about.
Leading up to the day, the company was excellent to work with—very communicative, helpful, and the tasting beforehand was such a fun, reassuring part of the process. They also went above and beyond with setup, arranging linens and folding napkins at no extra charge.
That said, I do have some complaints about the day-of service. The staff on-site seemed disorganized: food came out later than planned, there was a lot of confusion around serving the vegan and GF meals, and unfortunately one of our tiramisus was never cut or served despite people asking for it. I couldn’t find anyone to help with it, and I also never got the leftovers back, so it felt like $80 wasted and such a shame because it was so tasty. We also almost didn’t get our cake leftovers returned either—it only happened because I happened to run into an attendant in the parking lot who had them (maybe in one of their cars).
Despite those hiccups, the food itself was wonderful, and the planning process was smooth and stress-free. I’d still recommend Deco Catering for their creative menu options and helpful team, but I’d advise couples to be very clear about expectations for the day-of staff to avoid similar issues.

Running through the timeline before the wedding also eased so many of my wedding anxieties and worries! They even took care of the desserts--which were through a different vendor! I cannot be more thankful for their reassurance and guidance.

From the servers to the bartenders to the behind-the-scenes folks, the service was extraordinary. And the food! Our guests raved about our menu during and after the wedding. When we told Kasey we were interested in serving pierogis as a nod to my Polish heritage, she went out of her way to source them from an authentic local vendor. They were one of the biggest hits of the night! All of Deco's food is heads above standard wedding fare - you will not be disappointed. We also highly recommend the Helsinki cake; it is a MUST do. We truly could not recommend Deco more strongly, especially if working with Watson Block or one of its partner venues.

ing food is wedding food', but even his expectations were exceeded! We received many compliments on the food. I tried the roasted salmon and champagne chicken, and both were DELICIOUS. Also, the spinach feta salad was delicious and highly complimented.
We worked with Kasey during the tasting and planning process, and her responsiveness and helpfulness was immediately apparent from our first interactions. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, so having someone like Kasey on your team is highly appreciated. I had so many questions and menu changes throughout the months leading up to the wedding, and Kasey was always so helpful and accommodating.
I have absolutely zero complaints about working with Deco, and I would recommend them to everyone who is planning a wedding, especially at Semple Mansion (they are one of the preferred vendors). They are truly professionals, and the entire day I had zero stress about any aspect of the catering.

The meats were moist and delicious (Chicken stuffed with wild rice and short ribs), the fruits and vegetables fresh and beautiful, and the desserts! The best! We could have ordered at least twice the amount of kringle - it was the best we've ever had! The pretzel bites at the end of the night were a big hit, too.
I, as mother of the groom, coordinated everything so that our kids could just show up and enjoy (they were married earlier this year). Kacey, Christy, and the rest of the team made this event go so smoothly. Every detail was attended to, and the evening was wonderful! The staff was attentive, courteous, efficient, and unobtrusive. I didn't even realize when they had cleaned up and left.
I highly recommend The Deco Catering. You will not be disappointed!

particular, everyone complimented the roasted veggies and baked brie cheese served during the pre-ceremony social hour – it was one of the most delicious appetizers we've ever had. The salads were hearty with abundance, flavor and color. The buffet - everything from the presentation to the taste was superb. Last but not least- the CAKE! We could NOT wait a year to taste it again, so one week later- the cake top is gone! Don't look further - Deco is your #1 Choice!

ng event in their St Paul office, to the event itself, the Deco team was gracious, personable, polished, flexible, and very professional. Our guests raved ab out the quality of the food, but also the quality of the staff they interacted with, from the bartenders, servers, and wait staff who served appetizers, everything was first class! Oh , and did I mention, they had to pivot the reception plans because of a thunderstorm, an d they didn't miss a beat !!
