We fell in love with the gardens first, and then the mission for the school on the property. So happy working with them! Little bit challenging golf carting all the wedding guests up the hill to the reception room though.
We got married at CWG about 4 months ago. I'd love to write a long, detailed review of every issue along the way, but in short -- it was very stressful for us and we regretted hiring them. We didn't feel like they had our best interests in mind, and struggled with basic skills like communication and organization. All of our other vendors were great.
I had never heard of or seen Cator Woolford Gardens before I started looking for wedding venues, but what a treat it was to find it! CWG is really spectacular. There is so much space to make it your own. I wish we had thousands more dollars to spend on our wedding so we could have customized more, but one of the best things about CWG is that it doesn't need tons of decor & embellishment if that's just not in your budget. The gardens are undeniably beautiful and the atrium is a really nice indoor space for the reception.
I had a great experience working with the staff. They were kind, professional, and as flexible as possible. Thanks to Jay for answering all my questions! I felt fully supported on the wedding day and really appreciate how much work the staff did behind the scenes to make sure our event ran smoothly. Not having to worry about renting an extra tent, tables, and chairs was huge.
It's important to note that this venue does come with some strings attached like noise regulations, catering requirements, and farewell limitations (no sparklers, etc.). CWG is very up front about this though, so as long as you read the contract and know what you're signing up for, there shouldn't be any issues.
This venue is beautiful and you have so many options for your ceremony, dinner and dancing. The rain plans are equally as beautiful., so you do t have to worry about everything falling apart if it storms. We planned on having the ceremony in the gardens, dinner in the patio by the stairs and then dancing up in the atrium but the day of the wedding was a terrible storm. We didn’t get the garden wedding I had dreamed of, but the tent was still beautiful. The staff took all the guests up to the atrium in golf carts so no one had to worry about getting rained on. The atrium was also beautiful and I think people mingled more than if we were outdoors.
Just some other tips*** We also worked with fox bro who is five stars as a caterer and our guests LOVED it. We provided all the alcohol and mixers and their bartenders were great. You don’t have to be fancy to make everyone full and happy. We also had Krispy Kreme instead of cake to save on cost (totally avoided a cake cutting fee) and it was the best decision. Our guests were genuinely excited when they realized we were having Krispy Kreme. Plus you can set up delivery 24 hrs in advance and they bring them to the venue. Our planner did a quick display and it was easy and cute.
Stunning venue with a cause! They were extremely easy to work with - open to all of our ideas, but also lots of great feedback. The contract was very clear. We had the wedding and cocktails in the garden, which was beautiful! Dinner and dancing in the atrium was really fun, though the sound during dinner wasn't great. With 100 guests there was still plenty of room to dance. Of course, the best thing is that the money went to good use at their facilities for children and adults with disabilities, rather than JUST to a party.
From start to finish, our experience with Cator Woolford Gardens was phenomenal. Christina did a tremendous job helping us envision our day, rapid responsiveness, and excellent recommendations.
Not on is the venue jaw dropping, but the staff is tremendous.
This venue was everything I wanted. It is a beautiful garden located near Emory. I needed very few additional flowers/decorations because the grounds are just so beautiful. The venue was very affordable and has a fun area where you can bring lawn games during cocktail hour. Unfortunately it was a little rainy and I didn't get to have dinner outside but their plan B was great and we had dinner in the beautiful atrium with floor to ceiling windows. The only downside is that you have to be done by 10pm and there can be no amplified music during the cocktail hour or dinner if you do it in the gardens. We did not find this to be a problem. We got to have our perfect garden wedding; it was truly magical.
Where to even start about this truly beautiful garden and non-profit? My husband discovered Cator Woolford on a bike ride through Decatur and from first blush, we knew this was the most perfect place for our wedding. Christina, Jenn, and Holly are wonderful venue coordinators, and welcomed us to check out the gardens and reference their super helpful recommended vendors list as we embarked on the wedding planning process. The venue fees are very reasonable and go directly back to supporting the Frazer Center, a wonderful organization with a wonderful cause. Book quickly as I am sure their calendar is filled far in advance!
And the gardens themselves? Jaw-droppingly, absolutely, perfectly gorgeous. I could not have asked for a more verdant and lush backdrop to our September wedding, and the beautiful old archway, marble staircase, chandeliered tent, and light-strung patio were beautiful additions to our big day. It was so special to be married on such good ground, surrounded by groves of trees as old as Atlanta herself. Support this organization and you'll also be booking the venue of your dreams!
