CBV Cake Design (Cakes By Vivian)

When booking vendors for your wedding, be sure to know who you are going to be working with. What we thought was going to be a fun process, designing our wedding cake, tasting and all the things everyone talks about turned into one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had and now have to fight to get our money back for services never rendered to us. Completely unprofessional service and other brides I reached out to who have tagged her in post from their wedding day said they wished they paid a little more money for better quality, service and overall experience. I hope in writing this it helps another couple planning their wedding to protect their budget and experience because booking with CBV will cost you both. Vivian, the owner of CBV, was anything but helpful and pleasant to us. All interactions leading up to the contract seemed normal. Questions got answered and we signed the contract Jan of 2022. She immediately pulled funds for retainer upon signing, but after that we went in total almost 7 weeks before we could get ahold of her again. We felt like she took our money and ran, because we had to message so many times to get a response. After multiple phone calls and emails, we finally heard back because her staff had covid. That we understood. So, we tried to book our tasting with her at the end of Feb 22 for the beginning of April. We again did not hear back from vivan until AFTER the date we wanted to do the tasting had passed, again covid hit her staff. That we understood as well. During this time we tried to do our cake design, going back and forth through email because we are not local to Houston and she did not offer a zoom meeting. After detailed emails and photos we thought our design was down. We reached out again to try and get a tasting, 6 weeks before we would be in town. We did not hear back from Vivian again until the week we wanted to go in for the tasting, after I sent two follow up emails and my wedding venue also reached out to confirm we could go get a tasting done. At the tasting we could tell she was very annoyed that Our venue reached out to her and again said her staff had covid and appreciated our patience. She started going over design and we felt like she completely dismissed what we wanted. EX) we wanted a smooth buttercream texture but she said twice something about a textured cake. Following this I emailed her about our design and changes that are needed/confirmation she had it right. She did not respond back to us for 3 ½ weeks. We finally got a response back because she responded to our request to respond by a deadline with updates/answers because we told her we felt like she could not fulfill her duties on her contract so she terminated the contract on our behalf. We were okay with her terminating our contract because we did not feel like we could trust her to show up on our wedding day, let alone pay over 1k for a cake not designed in the way we wanted. But now, we are fighting to get our money from back.

Delicious cake! Wonderful flavor selections! Her cake was by far the most delicious, fresh, and high quality we had tasted out of at least 5 places we tried. We chose the Earl Grey and Raspberry flavor varieties. There were a few times when communication by email was a challenge, however she was always incredibly kind, helpful, and responsive by phone call and text. We were outside her delivery area, however she helped pack our car so we would be successful with a safe cake arrival. She executed the cake design exactly as I had wanted! I am so thrilled we selected her for as our cake vendor, and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone and everyone.

The cake was fantastic!!! It came on time. Was exactly the way we wanted it and it tasted amazing!!!! We got the London fog/ earl grey flavor…. TO DIE FOR!!!! Omg. It’s so delicious!!

CBV was awesome! We had the best time at our tasting, and she really helped us narrow down all our favorites. We ended up going with 3 different flavors, and even then, we would've loved to choose more! The cake on the day of was all delicious. We are so happy with our decision to work with Vivian! Choosing CBV for my special day was such a great decision! Vivian has such a sweet and caring personality. She was so easy to work with and her creative vision brought my dream wedding cake to life! It wasn’t easy choosing my flavors because she has so many delicious options it was tough not to pick them all! London fog was my number one choice. I definitely recommend booking CBV!

CBV created my dream wedding cake! The cake was not only beautiful but it tasted amazing as well. We had 100 guests and requested a 3-tier cake with cookie butter and earl grey tea and those flavors were amazing. All of our guests went for seconds and loved the cake. The set-up and delivery was also a smooth process. We rented our cake stand from CBV and it matched the cake perfectly! She also placed the cake flowers perfectly and it fit the vibe of our wedding completely! Best experience!

Finding the perfect person to make our wedding cake was a tougher task than I anticipated. I love desserts and had no clue I was going to be so picky about the taste of our wedding cake! We saw so many beautiful wedding cakes, but they didn't taste great and we didn't want that to be the case for ours. We had several tastings with different vendors and finally found CBV through our wedding planner! With COVID, our tasting was at home vs. in-person but I enjoyed that, because we were able to eat all of the cakes from the comfort of our living room! We truly loved all of the flavors she provided, and ended up picking 2 flavors for our cake. We choose the "London Fog" and "Lemon Blueberry" flavors, which were delicious! We got married in November 2020 and with the pandemic, we weren't sure of how many people would attend our wedding. We didn't want to go overboard with our cake and have a ton left over, but also didn't want it to look tiny or off-scaled. So after speaking with Vivian she informed us that we could do a faux tier and it would make the cake appear larger than it truly was. The perfect solution! Everyone told us how yummy it was at the wedding, and my husband complained that I didn't cut him a big enough slice when we cut our cake! lol Vivian went above and beyond in creating the most beautiful wedding cake for us! It was just like the pictures I sent over to her and the best part was... it tasted amazing! Can't recommend her enough!

Cake was amazing and worth the price! Vivian is also really easy and great to work with. I chose raspberry magic, cookie butter, suit&tie, and london fog. Raspberry magic and london fog were the most popular at my reception. The pies and tarts weren't as popular as expected and the tops were broken/caved in when we arrived, but the ones intact were beautiful and the kids still enjoyed them!

Literally one of the BEST CAKES WE HAVE EVER TRIED! Not too sweet and extremely fluffy! we received many compliments! The booking process was super easy and stress free from start to finish. CBV is also very affordable ! We had three delicious flavors for our cake. I will definitely be recommending and using CBV for future events(birthdays, baby showers, etc) Thank you Vivian!

CBV did an incredible job throughout the entire process from the tasting months before, to the final delivery and product. We did a dessert table with approximately 7 different options. Every single dessert tasted incredible. CBV also did a fantastic job (visually) setting up the table. We couldn't have been happier!!

CBV prepared our wedding cake and assorted dessert for our wedding on 9/1/2019. The cake was so moist! Honestly, I wish I had some left over! I am convinced that I need cake from CBV for every occasions in our life! We got three different flavor/filling for our cake and all of them were great. For the dessert, we got coconut mango panna cotta, rice krispie treats, and fruit tarts. All of them were amazing! Everyone loves the cake and the dessert! Booking process was very easy. We met Vivian once for tasting , and everything else was handled via email, and the paypal was processed through PayPal.

Vivian was a pleasure to work with. She can take your ideas for cakes that are elegant but also fun and personal and turn them into reality. Not only will they look great, but will taste great with her wide selection of flavors. Would recommend seeing CBV for any future cake needs.

We had CBV Design Cake for our wedding cake and it was totally a hit in our wedding! Our guests loved the design and flavor of our cake. Vivian is so easy to work with, we did everything over email and all the payments were done online through PayPal. We met once at the cake tasting and all the flavors were delicious, it was so hard to pick 2 out of them but we actually went with Raspberry Magic and Ferrero Rocher. Our cake was beautiful and delicious, we had our guests asking us about it even after our wedding. I’m so glad we booked with her because our cake wedding was a dream come true and something I’ll never forget. If you’re reading this and you’re also a bride to be; don’t hesitate and book hit them! You won’t regret it, their cakes are to die for!!

You need Vivian's cake! This was the BEST cake! We had a 4 tier cake and had each tier as a different flavor and that was the best decision! Everyone loved and variety to choose from and we got the most compliments on our cake than any other vendor at our wedding. Everyone said it was the best wedding cake they ever had and I agree! The white chocolate strawberry is to die for!! I had my planner save me a slice of each flavor for the day after. I am so glad I did because the cake was about gone. Vivian is the sweetest!

First of all, Vivian’s cake was amazing!!! My guests kept giving compliments whenever we talked about our wedding. Vivian was very helpful and responsive. She replied to my emails quickly and accommodated my requests to fit my vision of the cake. We enjoy having Vivian as a part of our big day. We highly recommend CBV cake.

Vivian's cake was so beautiful and absolutely delicious! The flavor was spectacular. It tasted much better than the ones I tried in the tasting. I had vanilla with chocolate chips, ferrero rocher and salted caramel. The cake was beautiful and perfect for my wedding. Better than I imagined! So happy with her service and professionalism.

Vivian was everything and more a bride needs when it comes to a baker. She’s very professional, responded promptly, and the cake was more than what we expected. Our one year anniversary is in a few months and our guest are still complimenting us on the taste and look of our cakes.

Vivian is INCREDIBLE. She is very sweet, easy to work with and most importantly, knows how to bake the most delicious wedding cake. We picked four flavors of cake because we just couldn't decide, there were so many options. Vivian was able to take a picture of what I wanted and designed a similar style cake for our wedding. We can say we were 100% amazed at how beautiful the cake turned out. We had a four tier cake with flowers and flower petals cascading down the front of the cake. I cannot say enough about Cakes by Vivian. Her cakes are truly a work of art, and even more importantly, they’re moist and DELICIOUS. I go to Cakes by Vivian for all my occasions. She’s so accommodating and such an understanding person, will work with you to build that “dream cake”, and her prices are way more affordable than the other competitors in Houston. For my dad’s 70th birthday, she built a beautiful Pandan and Berry Chantilly two-tier cake. The cake was grey with gold accents and it made the perfect center piece. In fact, it was all anyone could talk about… Even those who weren’t in attendance were raving about it. Thank you Vivian for helping us celebrate such a special occasion.

Vivian is so talented and I love how she is constantly improving. She listens to what you want and then add recommendations for the perfect cake. Her cakes are absolutely gorgeous and they taste as good as they look, too!!!

Cakes by Vivian was AMAZING! She was really prompt at replying my emails since the start. We met with her for a cake testing with my parents & fiance, all the cakes were delicious! It was hard to decide on 3 flavors, although the four of us choose as BEST her coconut one, it was sooo good! That was our biggest tier, then we had a chocolate ferrero and for our last and smallest tier (which we are saving in the freezer for our 1 year anniversary) was the berry vanilla one. Highly recommend Vivian for your wedding, she was super professional and a great baker!! And her prices are below others I was eyeing, so that's a great plus!

Our wedding cake was absolutely perfect. Not only was it tasty and moist but beautiful as well. We couldn't have been any happier. Vivian was very personable and attentive. I love every little added detail and subtle touches that made the cake that much more spectacular. She went above and beyond our expectations. I go to Vivian for all of my cakes simply because she is the best! She has made my children's birthday cakes, cakes for bridal/baby showers and of course weddings... And the great thing is I feel like she's continuously coming up with new recipes and flavors that I can't wait to try! When it comes to Vivian's cake,and presentation is key she always delivers the Wow factor!

Vivian’s cakes are as great as she is. She made the whole process of ordering our wedding cake a walk in the park. I was unsure what style I wanted to go with, but she was able to piece together all my ideas and came up with truly amazing design. Our cake not only looked great it tasted just as great. Vivian made my 21st birthday cake and also a cake for my parent’s 25th wedding anniversary and she nailed both occasions! The fresh flowers she added into my parents wedding cakes was so gorgeous. I really really love her flavors and the texture and taste of the cakes I’ve gotten from her. That’s not even the best part. Her icing is TO DIE for. I’m not a fan of cake all together but honestly her cake is so yummy I’ve been having leftovers as dessert for the past few days. She really takes the time to make the perfect cake vision into reality.

Had a cake made for my friends wedding shower and Vivian delivered the cake herself, was early, and very professional. The cake was moist and very flavorful. The cake was fiesta themed and had flowers on it and was gorgeous. I will definitely be using cakes by Vivian for the next event I am planning.
