Considering we paid so little, I'd say we got what we paid for and it was still a nice venue.
We got an amazing package deal: deposit was $200, and gazebo & reception ...
hall together were $800! Currently, their website shows that the prices have risen to $1,500 for that package, but it still is a good deal. The venue was pretty. Well tended gazebo & mountain views.
For the Reception: - They do have a about 8 or 10 round banquet tables that are free to use, about 8 rectangular tables, and white linens that come with the deal at no extra cost.* :)
- Their speaker system consists of two large speakers. They are basic, and though they work, if the speakers sit on the floor they do not create a good acoustic sound. When we played the music the sound sounded pretty tacky and I wished we had given more time and consideration to how to set up the speakers, placement, height, sound absorbency, etc.
- The reception hall had a small industrial kitchen attached to it, which was helpful for storing food and flower arranging. :)
- Pianist comes with the deal at no extra cost, and though it was nice to have her play, I will say if you use her, DEFINATELY get a hold of her 2 months before the event: I had such a hard time getting a hold of her. I finally spoke with her 2 days before the wedding when we decided on the piece she'd play - I was frustrated with that part.
I wish I had more help before the wedding day because it would have made things run a lot smoother and would have turned out way better overall. This is a great venue if you're on a budget, but I do recomend highering someone who who has experience and knows what they are doing planing things out with you, and who can communicate with some authority about what needs to be done and when to the church staff.
I was disappointed with the microphone situation: The day of the wedding the microphone in the reception hall was no where to be found; so our MC and everyone else speaking just had to speak very loudly, which made getting the crowd's attention difficult. I thought that was unprofessional on the part of the church's coordinator, as they should have made sure it was working and ready when we needed it. Guests didn't take the announcements about different activities seriously since they often couldn't hear them well.
To make your wedding nice at this venue I believe you need a large and able bodied group of volunteers to decorate, set up, and pay attention to details, as well as a planner or coordinator who knows what they are doing. I WISH I started setting up 5 days before, everything would have run more smoothly.
On that note, Pastor Greg Davis, who volunteers as the coordinator got back to me quickly when I called or text him, however, the day of and day before the wedding he was not able to fulfill many of my requests that I conveyed to him, such as communicating parking details to the other parts of the team. People wound up parking all over. When people asked him about things that were needed, such as the microphone he didn't get back to them because he was busy doing other things, like making sure the bathrooms were clean & working (shouldn't that have been taken care of a few days before!?). I wish we communicated more before the wedding, though I will say he was quite busy so didn't offer help in set up before Friday (Wedding was Saturday) or planning.
