e all arrived for cocktail hour. Drinks were flowing and hors d’oeuvres were being served by a friendly, attentive staff. The transition from cocktail hour to the reception was seamless and we even had time for a fantastic photo with all of our guests. Food stations were set up in two separate areas to accommodate all of our guests. Our friends are still talking about the delicious fried chicken and mashed potato bar. We didn’t have to worry about any details on the day of the wedding because Terry took care of everything for us. We had some of our own decorations and her team helped pack up our items and stored them for us. During the planning process, Terry was helpful in answering all of our questions. She responded to emails quickly and made herself available when needed. We would highly recommend having your reception at The Chalfonte Hotel!

Since we brought all of the decorations with us, the staff were very helpful in storing them for us so we could collect them the next day. y promptly answered every question we had and was very helpful. The wedding weekend itself was as low-stress as you could possibly expect, all thanks to Terry and her staff. Our guests had a great time and really enjoyed the different parts of the property to explore, and we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves. Everything was handled with care and professionalism, down to all the decorations being taken down and packed up for us to take with us the next day. We did not have to worry about anything but dancing and having a good time with our friends and family. We had an amazing time, look forward to going back next summer, and cannot recommend Terry and the Chalfonte enough.

ding location! To start - the hotel is beautiful, unique and has an old- time charm that is quintessential Cape May. The interior and especially the exterior and grounds are perfect for taking beautiful pictures. Our photographer was in heaven with all the wonderful options to shoot. Our cocktail hour on the large wrap around porch was a big highlight and a big favorite of many guests. It was a beautiful sunny day but even if rain appeared, we knew the cocktail hour would not be affected due to the large awnings that provide ample coverage. We had our immediate family stay at the Southern Quarters section which was great to give them a more private VIP type area for themselves to enjoy. The Magnolia room, where the dinner reception was held looks great at night and fills up perfectly with 100 people. The King Edward bar and the bar in the Magnolia room bookended each side of the dinner reception area to make getting drinks easy and quick. There are so many wonderful little areas (magic garden, cupola) to discover and enjoy throughout the property. Beside having the perfect venue, the staff is equally impressive. Terry is the best! She was with us every step of the way and had recommendations for vendors that were fantastic. She is a joy to work with and has a great grasp of how to best take advantage of the nuances of the hotel. She was there all night with us and was very hands- on and was on top of everything! Dylan and the girls at the front desk (Vanessa, Jay….) were helping where ever needed. They all had a great attitude and many of our guest mentioned how impressed they were with the staff. We had the Fried chicken and Mahi Mahi for dinner as well as the breakfast buffet. It was some of the best food I have ever had at a wedding and our guests agreed! We wanted a true Cape May wedding and if that is what you are looking for than look no further. Every aspect of the day exceeded our expectations to say the least. We have been back to the Chalfonte a couple times already this summer and we like to have a drink and sit in the rocking chairs on the front porch and remember such an unforgettable day. We had our ceremony in the garden and it was landscaped beautifully. Our guests loved the cocktail hour on the verandah, our signature drinks were executed perfectly! The reception in the Magnolia Room was fantastic! Everyone said it was the best fried chicken, mac and cheese, and mushroom ravioli they ever tasted. Highly recommend the buffet - you can't go wrong!! The whole day just felt effortless because of Terry's experience and attention to every detail. u don't really need much enhancement in the way of a lots of extra decorations, which saves on the wedding budget! The guests especially loved our cocktail hour on the wrap-around porch, and there were so many perfect spots in and around for unique wedding photos. The staff was very attentive, and the food was delicious with lots of choices. Terry and her staff followed our instructions for setup of the reception very carefully and after the reception, they took great care with our items, especially some of our family heirlooms. We also appreciated The Chalfonte's flexibility in allowing us to personalize our wedding reception. Our guests also enjoyed the King Edward Bar on the premises at night, and the extensive breakfast buffet the following morning. There are many churches within walking distance and all of the local vendors we utilized for the wedding were also professional and easy to work with. All in all, we felt we got great value for our money having a wedding at The Chalfonte, and we enjoyed introducing our guests to this grand property and the town of Cape May. We highly recommend The Chalfonte to wedding couples!

Despite having a city-wide power outage (and rain!), Terry’s team seamlessly transitioned our ceremony from the beach to the reception hall without hesitation, and made sure our cocktail hour and reception were unaffected. She coordinated with all our vendors, made sure our decorations were in order, and helped our musicians set up in the right place for our guests to enjoy – her team really took the stress out of the day. The food was wonderful (our guests are still raving about everything!), the King Edward Bar poured great drinks, and the entire staff working at the Chalfonte were wonderful and kind. We are so happy to have had our wedding at the Chalfonte – it was everything we could have imagined, and more!

She made us feel relaxed and taken care of, and confident that we could accomplish a full weekend of wedding events without hiring an outside wedding coordinator. The charm of the Chalfonte hotel is undeniable and that goes for the building as well as the staff. From the moment our guests checked in, they were treated with kindness and positivity. The check in process was easy, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. When it came time for the big event, we were all floored by the quality of the food and wine, and the sizable portions. The scallops wrapped in bacon were some of the best I've had ever had, and they were truly the size of my hand. The crab cakes were huge and the steak was perfectly cooked. We asked if we could have a signature tequila drink, and it came out exactly as imagined. We decided to do the welcome party at the King Ed Bar and the brunch in the Magnolia room in order to get the most out of our time at the Chalfonte. This was a really good decision! This made the weekend easy for our guests and optimized our time with them, plus, the food, again, was unbelievable. Many of our friends and family have told me that ours was one of the most fun and special weddings they've every been to. I am obviously biased, but I couldn't agree more. Thank you to everyone at the Chalfonte for making our dream wedding (and on a budget no less) come true!!

We had 85 guests and everyone complimented our choice of venue, not to mention the delicious buffet dinner! There are so many tough decisions when you’re wedding planning, but finding a venue in Cape May doesn’t have to be one of them—choose the Chalfonte and you can rest assured knowing you’re in the best of hands.

ion set up and guest check -in. Guests were to receive welcome bags at the front desk at the time of check in; a large number of our guests did not receive them. Decorations and favors were stored in multiple areas (the storage closet is far too small); staff didn't know where to find items. The favors were missed until later in the evening (some guests left without them). I would still give the Chalfonte a strong rating, but would suggest they review some internal organization.

-up, I just dropped off my DIY decorations and the team made it happen. Our photos turned out gorgeous due to the charming nature of the hotel background. All of our guests continue to rave about the food, the fun and how beautiful our wedding was!

And in addition, made all the right decisions when we didn’t know what to do (like where to put all the random decorations and homemade desserts that kept multiplying in the days leading up to the event). Our guests raved about the charm of the venue and the food was great, too. And if you’re on the fence about the post wedding breakfast, go for it. It was an unexpected highlight for us - both for the amazing spread of delicious food and the chance to recap with friends and family about how great the wedding was.

s were nicely done but the bathrooms in some of the rooms were small. It is a Victorian hotel. The Bartender was great and we spent Friday evening after the rehearsal there catching up with family. The ceremony was on the Beach and the reception was at the Chalfonte. WE had a stand alone cheese station with hummus and brie. The pass hor's D'oeuvres were delicious especially the lemon rosemary shrimp. The reception followed the cocktail hour. The spinach salad was good but had too much dressing . The filet, buttermilk potatoes and Brussels sprouts were delicious. We had about 105 people which was perfect for the room which we also had a photo booth. The staff was attentive and great. Terry thorough out the whole process was great and extremely helpful. Sunday morning we hosted a breakfast there for our guests. The Breakfast buffet was delicious.I would highly recommend the Chalfonte.

Terry was extremely helpful throughout the whole process and took care of details like ordering special wine to accompany dinner and having the servers pass out chocolate covered strawberries after the cake was cut. She coordinated with our various vendors and month-of planner and we did not have to worry about anything except enjoying our day. My Italian fiancé and his family were very impressed with the service and the food, which says it all, as Italians have very high standards! The appetizers were delicious, as were the entrees. Everything was plentiful and no one went home hungry. The venue is perfect, from the front porch for cocktail hour, to the beautiful dining room. The Chalfonte will always be a special place for us!

She promised our daughter, Amy, all would be as she wished and it could not have been more perfect. Nothing was too much to ask. Most planning was done long-distance but she was available to meet when it was convenient for us. I would highly recommend the Chalfonte to anyone for their special day.

Friday, the beach, historic trolley tours, and shopping were all nearby. The Chalfonte offers a quaint and welcoming vintage atmosphere with it's spacious lobby and public rooms, the King Edward Bar and Magnolia Room. And the porches!!! What a delightfully relaxing place to add to the charm and old-Cape May atmosphere!!! Miss Lucille's kitchen did not dissapoint! (The fried chicken is a must!) And Terri Carr, the event coordinator didn't miss a detail! The staff was attentive, helpful and friendly. We couldn't have asked for a more wonderful and memorable weekend! Perfection!!!

Terry worked with us when we had crazy requests such as setting up lawn games in their front yard and having an ice cream bar instead of cake. Shane and Dillon effortlessly handled our guest bookings and welcome bags. Our wedding weekend was perfect from bridal suite accommodation requests to our impeccable service and wonderful bartenders. After the wedding, our guests enjoyed the porch and the King Eddy bar. The Chalfonte Hotel is an idyllic location for anyone who enjoys the quaint, victorian style of Cape May with a historic southern twist. From the beautiful porches and balconies to gorgeous rooms and a spectacular staff, I would recommend The Chalfonte ten times over as the perfect wedding venue (and just an all around great place to stay)!!

I knew that my day would go smoothly because of her (and it did!) We DIY-ed most of our wedding so we brought down a ton of decorations and flowers! They gave us a spare room where we were able to store everything and work on our floral arrangements. We had a few friends and family who stayed at the hotel and it was so nice to sit on the porch in the rocking chairs and take in the whole weekend. My husband and I got married at the Chalfonte on a beautiful Sunday evening. We were married in the backyard under the willow tree. The yard looks small, but it was able to fit all of our 92 guests (and there was still room!). It was such an intimate and lovely ceremony. The weather was perfect, and the sun was out all day. The hotel is so close to the beach that we were able to walk down for a few pictures. The reception took place in the Magnolia room and everything was decorated just as I imagined!! There was honestly not one thing wrong about the whole day. After the wedding, a bunch of our friends and family went into the King Edward Bar and mingled with some of the guests there and had a few drinks before heading to bed. It was honestly a weekend that I will never forget. Many of our guests are still talking about how wonderful the wedding was. My husband and I are already planning to come back next year and we plan to make it a yearly trip. Thank you so much Terry and the rest of the staff at the Chalfonte. You gave us our dream wedding!

ust flowed and worked out and how it was absolutely meant to be for us to celebrate our marriage at The Chalfonte(more on that later). First, Terry Carr is wonderful. I am about 3 hrs away in upstate NY so our contact was all via email. She answered every email and every question promptly and was a real pleasure to deal with. I visited 3x before the wedding and she went out of her way to meet with me and go over all of my questions and concerns each time. Terrific work ethic and lovely person. The actual hotel is steeped in history and I love every little detail about the place. I could live on the wrap around porch. Just give me a good book and a beverage! The food was very good and everyone was more than helpful. If I could personalize this a bit I want to tell you why it was meant to be that Rufus and I had a reception here. A brief history first:, my dad passed away 13 years ago so he obviously wasn’t there and my mom was too ill to come so neither of my parents were there. It was their most fervent wish for me to find love and get married(I’m 49 years old, so, you know, we found each other a bit late ;) so it was especially hard not having them there. The day after the wedding my husband called me over and said “you have to see this”. He brought me into what I call the Library room at The Chalfonte and on the wall was a very large white framed collage full of old pictures, I believe from the 1940’s & 1950’s of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba with a story of two of its principle dancers. One of which was/is a frequent guest at The Chalfonte. My mouth dropped open and tears flowed immediately. I was born in Cuba of Cuban parents. My parents who couldn’t be there, somehow in my mind were represented by that collage. Such a lovely, lovely feeling! I highly recommend The Chalfonte for a wonderful, heartwarming experience. Whether it be for your wedding, any special occasion or just for a few nights stay!

of assistance. We checked out some other venues in Cape May - the Chalfonte was a beautiful eclectic Victorian hotel with a ton of character. It was also a relative bargain and we couldn't be happier with how perfectly everything came together. Terry executed everything exactly as we asked and where we didn't provide detailed instructions, she did an amazing job helping us fill in the blanks. The cocktail hour in the beautiful Victorian bar and on the wide old porches was a particularly lovely experience. Our guests had a blast. The bridal suite was gorgeous. When some items went missing after the reception, Terry and Co managed to track everything down quickly. All in all, Terry turned what could have been a stressful planning experience into one that was fun, easy, and ultimately successful.

I can't say enough about how perfect it was for us though. Guests had a great time hanging out on the wrap around porch, and the food was delicious. Terry was super attentive and quick about answering questions and providing information throughout the planning process. The staff was incredibly diligent about getting welcome bags to our guests as they checked in. I really don't have one negative thing to say. It was truly our ideal spot--I couldn't have imagined a better wedding venue for those looking for cozy, intimate, and romantic.

The Chalfonte made all of us feel at home that weekend. Terry, thank you a thousand times over for making our dream wedding come true. You're patient, kind, very quick at responding to emails, and give a lot of really good suggestions! - our day would not have been the same if it weren't for you. lose to my heart. Our guests traveled from the West Coast, New York and other parts of NJ - and everyone loved the Chalfonte. We had about 90 guests, and most stayed at the hotel with us, which made for a very cozy atmosphere. Cocktail hour in the King Edward Bar and on the fabulous porch was truly delightful, and it was easy and smooth for guests to stroll into the Magnolia Room for the reception. The food was delicious and served hot, and though the Magnolia Room has the charming feel of a bygone-era ballroom, there is also an intimacy in the room that I just loved. The hotel staff was warm and welcoming, as well as professional and extremely helpful. Terry, the wedding coordinator, was responsive and kind during the entire experience. We hosted a post-wedding breakfast on Sunday morning which our guests really enjoyed (the fried catfish and waffle station were especially big hits). I loved every minute of our magical wedding weekend at the Chalfonte Hotel in beautiful Cape May.

My daughter had many special requests and they were all taken care of by the hotel staff. Kudos to Dillon! The food was delicious and plentiful. We choose only the passed hors d'oeuvres in 8 types, all great. The entree was the crab cake and filet mignon. Everyone raved about the food! The room does get hot when the dancing begins, but the lovely porch is steps away to cool off. One of the best features is the welcoming comfort of the hotel for our guests. Most stayed for 3 nights and loved the history and character the hotel offers. I would not hesitate in choosing the Chalfonte for any event!

The view from the balcony was incredible as well. There was plenty of room on the front lawn to capture all of the guests in a group photo. The rocking chairs on the porch were quaint; and sitting in them, you truly felt "southern comfort". We got a complimentary night stay in a beautiful honeymoon suite. This was the happiest day of our lives, and we will never forget the amazing experience we had at the Chalfonte! We look forward to coming by to eat dinner when we visit Cape May Again!

charm of the historical hotel. The rooms are so comfortable and the second floor porch access was an unexpected yet amazing bonus! The front porch of the hotel is covered in rocking chairs and was the perfect place for cocktail hour. It quickly became the "meeting place" for our guests to hang out and mingle over the weekend. I loved that every time we came in or out of the hotel we would find guests on the porch! We had our ceremony under the Willow Tree in the back yard of the hotel and it was so beautiful. The area is secluded/peaceful and the landscaping is well maintained which provided a private, perfect ceremony backdrop. The Magnolia room, where we had the reception is just as perfect as the rest of the hotel! it is so beautiful that it requires very little decorating which made my life easy when it came to planning! Now for the staff… each and every staff member we interacted with deserves their very own 5 star rating! Terry, the event coordinator is an absolute SAINT! She was so wonderful to work with, from our very first email/phone conversation all the way up until the wedding weekend! She was always so kind, patient and prompt as we went through the planning process for 6+ months. She treated me like I was the only person getting married and went above and beyond to make me feel stress free and confident about our wedding! Dylan, another staff member, overheard my mother-in-law say that she wanted a milk shake. He surprised her with a milkshake at the reception! It was such a nice gesture and she still talks about how happy that made her! The rest of the staff were just as wonderful. They were so helpful with booking rooms for our guests with special needs/requests and when we all arrived they instantly made us feel so welcome. They helped us carry in items and made sure all of our guests received welcome bags. The bartenders and waiters/waitresses were excellent throughout the whole cocktail hour/ reception and the food and drinks were amazing! One of my favorite things about the weekend is that we hung out at the hotel porch/bar the night before our wedding and had the opportunity to really get to know some of the staff. By the end of the weekend they knew half of our guests by their first names and many of our guests commented on how it felt like we were all one big family! Some of the staff even celebrated with us after our wedding which we were thrilled about! It never felt like a business, just a big, beautiful, charming home with the best family members taking care of us! I was so sad to say goodbye after 3 days and cannot wait to go back and visit! I also have to say that i was blown away by how smooth everything went considering how busy the staff were. There were 3 weddings during that weekend and you would have never known! The staff had ONE hour to clean up a previous reception and set up ours. The room looked beautiful, like they had been cleaning and setting up for us all day! The overall atmosphere of the Chalfonte is cozy and charming and the staff are a perfect match! I would recommend the Chalfonte to anyone because I want everyone to have the perfect experience that we had!! THANK YOU to everyone at the Chalftonte for giving us the wedding of our dreams!

that we found this hidden gem 8 years ago thanks to Nancy. We feel like family and get treated the exact same way. I was so impressed by Terry Carr the Wedding planner. She is detailed and organized and stayed on top of us the entire time to make sure we had everything covered. She then was like a Commander in Chief running that reception. The appetizers were delicious and the Crab cake and fillet mouth watering. Much better than any meal that we had while dining in Cape May that entire weekend. We chose Nancy to announce the new Mr.& Mr. because we felt as if without her 8 year long friendship we would not have had the wedding at this hotel and nothing in my eyes could compare. We have been long time repeat guests at the Chalfont for 8 years and it keeps getting better. You are welcomed the minute you get there and treated as if your a guest in someone's home the entire time. The food is great the drinks are delicious and your going to meet many long time loyal returns and locals in the King Edward bar. Thank you all so much, it could not have been better. From the beginning, Terry was very thorough and prompt through all forms of communication as we set a date and discussed options. She was patient with my MANY questions and accommodating to our requests. The front desk crew did a great job helping our guests book rooms over the course of several months (we ended up filling the hotel with the exception of 2 rooms). Once wedding week came, the Chalfonte staff went above and beyond to make our friends, family, and us feel extremely welcome. This is part of the charm you can actually always count on when staying at the Chalfonte, but for the wedding weekend they even exceeded their usual warmth and helpfulness. From Terry taking the time to be our witness for our marriage license application, to the staff making sure each guest received one of our welcome bags, to letting us display a giant chalkboard with information regarding each day’s events in the lobby, to the staff keeping a water dispenser we brought for the porch full of fresh lemons/limes/water/ice for 3 days straight…we were thoroughly impressed. On the actual day of the wedding, the weather was not so good, so instead of getting married on the beach as intended, we were forced to turn to our back-up plan of having an indoor wedding in the Magnolia Room at the Chalfonte (the same room our reception was to take place immediately after). I cannot put into words how impressed we were with how beautiful the room looked for the ceremony. And while our guests enjoyed a post-ceremony cocktail hour on the porch, the staff was able to clear the ceremony seating and set the tables for dinner. It really blew my mind how fast they were able to accomplish this. To go from having no involvement in the ceremony (had it been on the beach) to THAT was really something. The waiters and bartenders were excellent throughout the whole cocktail hour and reception. The cocktail hour food was a true stand-out. Veggie eggrolls, mini quiches, ham biscuits, crudité, etc…. I could have feasted on apps all night ☺ Got so many compliments on the cocktail hour food. Dinner was good too, but my wedding dress was so tight it was hard to eat a whole meal lol. We have gotten endless compliments on how fun our wedding week in Cape May was. In part because we have such amazing friends/family, part because most had never been to Cape May and were so pleasantly surprised, and part because of the amazingness of the Chalfonte. There is no place quite like it. There is something very magical about the Chalfonte front porch and its plethora of rocking chairs. It brings people together in a way that I can’t even describe. It is conducive for constant conversation and socializing in the most relaxing and laid back way. It’s something that you could NEVER achieve at a Marriott or Holiday Inn or any normal hotel. Our guests mingled for multiple days, young and old, his side, my side, friends and family. And we could not have asked for more. There is already a reunion trip being planned for next year. We have at least 25 people that want to go back next for our anniversary week. Truly amazing. Thank you Terry for everything! Best day and week ever :)

So many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed the quaint and classic hotel, from relaxing on the porch to enjoying some post-reception drinks at the King Edward Bar. We also got very positive feedback about the food served both at our buffet dinner and at the breakfast we hosted the next morning. Tips: - This is not a 24/7 chain hotel. It has tons of good character, so be prepared to go with the flow. Check out the widow's perch. - Forget if it seems a bit low-brow at first -- include the fried chicken in the menu. It is the best we had. - Use the porch. It makes a great place for hors d'oeuvres. - The reception hall can get hot when everyone is on the dance floor, but fresh air is only a few steps away. - The balcony on the second floor makes a great spot for wedding couple pictures.

r seemed to get frustrated with us (we asked a lot of questions). The staff were so friendly and so much fun. The food was awesome!! You have to get the fried chicken!! It is juicy and has a good crunch!! Delicious!! Plus they let us bring in some Filipino food (lechon and turon). This helped my husband to make it feel more like his wedding (he is Filipino) and not just an American wedding. Most of our family and some of our friends are from else where, so most stayed at the hotel. It was like having a destination wedding without being too far from home. My Mom made bags for the guest at the hotel. She just put snacks and little helpful items. An idea that she got from another wedding. Terry and the staff were so helpful for helping her hand that out and for giving us an idea of how many of our guests were staying at the hotel. Also Terry and the staff put up our decorations for the tables (which was super helpful!!). They made everything look so nice. Plus, we had so much fun hanging out with our family and friends on their beautiful porch, after the rehearsal and the wedding. It was definitely a good party weekend. Exactly what my husband and I wanted. Also we did our cocktail hour before the ceremony (did a first look in photos to make it run more smoothly). Got the idea from another reviewer. I think this helped with keeping everyone relaxed and gave everyone a break between cocktail hour food and reception food. Our families are still talking about how much fun they had!! It's such a beautiful setting. We also had the breakfast the next day. Also delicious and a nice way to end our wedding weekend. Also super close to the beach. I know a lot of our guests hung out on the beach. Just completely awesome!! I have nothing but good memories of that weekend and the Chalfonte Hotel and their staff made that happen!! :-)

We had a cocktail hour on the wrap around porch. The whole place is great for pictures too! The reception took place back in the ballroom, which the staff was able to turn over very quickly. Service during the reception was great and all the guests loved Miss Dorothy's Chicken and the Pasta Primavera. One end of the ballroom was used for dancing, which was spacious and had good lighting. Overall, couldn't have picked a better place for our day.

Saturday evening was spent enjoying horderves on the porch, and eating homemade crab cakes and fried chicken, by 61 yr old Burton sisters,Dot and Lucile and dancing the night away. Flash forward to 2013, and my son Zack ,and daughter Justine, sat in those same rockers,enjoying ocean breezes,and pasting time with relatives thought out the weekend. When Saturday rolled around they, too, danced the night away, ate crab cakes and fried chicken prepared by the Burton sisters, only they were now 85 yrs of age. A wonderful time was had by all. Terry Carr the Chalfontes wedding planners attention to detail,made everything seem effortless, thus, allowing us to enjoy the great food and friends. A perfect wedding, here's to hoping my Grandchildren get married there also. Yes,traditions are important.

The backyard has a willow tree that survived Hurricane Sandy, it's the perfect spot to have your ceremony. The staff is incredibly helpful, and warm, and you're not just churned through a wedding factory. You're given time and attention. Your wedding will have the best kind of character. Let me repeat that I really shied away from the wedding industry outside of all the basic planning, I felt like I had a target on my chest. The Chalfonte Hotel set me right at ease, gave a person touch to our plans, and we'll be heading back there for the rest of our lives. So yeah, I liked it!

It had two bathrooms and two rooms which made getting ready with 5 other girls no problem. Our ceremony was held in the garden under the willow tree and the pictures turned out beautiful! At the cocktail hour, our guests raved about the food. Our guests were delighted that they could enjoy their cocktails either outside on the beautiful wrap around porch or in the bar itself. The reception went off without a hitch! As the bride you are not focused on the details at this point in the night, but The Chalfonte was. The attentive staff made sure that everyone was well fed and their drinks were always full. Our favorite waitress, Bree did an amazing job that night! My family had a few food allergies and the kitchen staff made sure that they were accommodated. After dinner the dance party began. What a fabulous way to end an amazing day. My husband and I had such a great and relaxing experience working with The Chalfonte over the past year. We highly recommend having your wedding here!

She was always prompt in returning my phone calls and emails and ready and willing to help with anything. The food was amazing as well!! We had so many guests comment on how delicious it was, saying it was the best wedding food they had ever had. One of my favorite parts of the hotel has to be the porches though. After the rehearsal dinner and the actual wedding day, many of us ended up on the porches, relaxing and drinking until late at night. I would highly recommend The Chalfonte Hotel to new brides out there. I will always have wonderful memories from my wedding there and hope to return year after year.

We were married in the backyard and moved to the front porch for the cocktail hour. The food is incredible (especially the famous fried chicken) and our guests are still talking about it. The thing I loved most about the space was the ability for guests to explore the bottom part of the hotel throughout the evening. Though we had personalized decorations, the space itself is already so beautiful, that you don't need to do much to it. Guests can sit on the rocking chairs on the wraparound porch, sit in the bar, wander through the gorgeous lobby, or of course spread out in the ballroom. We utilized the end of the ballroom for dancing, which sound-wise was ideal. The sound stays in the end of the ballroom, allowing those who did not want to dance to have their own space and conversations at their tables. Terry was very helpful at creating the balance between letting me be the DIY bride I longed to be, and taking responsibility when I needed help. She was always reachable the months leading up to the wedding for all of my questions, and took all of our decorations/instructions a few days before. After that, it was all in their hands so we could focus on simply getting married. On the day itself, the staff looked out for us as the couple, and made sure we were comfortable and had the chance to eat (which is huge). Financially, Terry was very open to working with our budget, and even assisted us in what was necessary for a successful night. There was more than enough food and drinks all evening. In comparison to other venues I looked at, this was by far the most accommodating for those on a budget. If you love the charm of a legitimate historic mansion, I cannot recommend this enough. Even staying in the hotel creates a unique experience for your guests. By the end of the wedding, we felt like a part of the Chalfonte family. We will definitely be visiting for many years to come.

e cocktail hour on the porch.... It was a beautiful setting but also set a casual tone that allowed guests many options for sitting and a chance to really mingle. We decorated the whole first floor with family photos and they really seemed to fit right in the the intimate setting of the hotel. So many people complimented us on the appetizers we did three butlered and one stationary. The seafood was tremendous... The shrimp were huge and people were literally chasing the mushrooms and scallops because loved them so much. As for the reception - we loved the format of the long dinning hall... Again the feel was really intimate and inviting with the Victorian setting and candlelight. The dinner was the best I have ever had at any wedding. You are always nervous about sit downs that everyone gets their food in a timely fashion and it's all still warm. But this was the best service I swear every table got their food within 5 minutes and all warm. I don't know how the chef did it but every steak was perfectly cooked. In fact one of our cousins who in a family with 20 first cousins and us the last to get married said this was the best steak and potatoes he has had in years not only at a wedding but even out to eat at a restaurant. The crab ale was also great for any crab lovers this is crab overload the best crab cake I have ever had. Finally the whole experience went so smoothly. Terry did an amazing job coordinating the whole ordeal... She was always friendly responsive and accommodating....I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Again so many of my friends said this was the best wedding they had been to and I have to thank the Chalfonte and it's staff for that. If you want excellent food, service, atmosphere with charm at a beautiful Victorian cape May landmark the Chalfonte is the way to go.
