Channing Memorial Church

ovember so we did not want to plan an outdoor ceremony. We started looking for local venues that would allow us to create our own ceremony, as neither of us are religious. I am so happy that we found Channing. They allowed us to essentially just rent the church and have our own ceremony and officiant (we had a friend marry us), and as a bonus, we got the help and assistance of the most fabulous, organized coordinator, Michele. I highly recommend renting this venue if you need a place to plan your own ceremony in Newport. We had a fantastic experience, and the church itself is historic and beautiful. It allowed me to have the experience of a somewhat traditional ceremony venue, and walking down an aisle, etc. which still making the ceremony completely our own. Check it out! (There is info on their website, including pricing.) At first I thought it was a bit pricey to pay for this site in addition to our reception venue, but it paid off in spades. Definitely more than worth it. The guests raved about how beautiful it was, too!
