Owen provided exactly the officiant services that we needed for our last minute elopement in Cooperstown. He worked with us as we narrowed down the exact day, time, and location and was there ready and waiting when we arrived for our ceremony. Everything was presented and carried out in a professional yet relaxed way that helped calm wedding day jitters. We appreciated the organized and efficient way that everything went, from the vows, to the signing of the certificate, and Owen even drove right into town to drop off the signed documents right after our ceremony. We couldn't be happier with the value we received from Charming Ceremonies and would definitely recommend them for your officiating needs.
We loved working with Owen and Levon at Charming Ceremonies! They took the time to get to know us and our vision for the ceremony, and shared a draft of the ceremony with us ahead of time so we could review it and make some tweaks. They really listened to us and captured our essence with a personalized ceremony and beautifully selected readings. For the ceremony rehearsal and wedding day ceremony, Levon was organized, kind, and made everyone feel comfortable with his warm presence. And afterward, they took care of the marriage certificate process so that we didn’t have to worry about it. We would definitely recommend Charming Ceremonies!

Based in Oneonta, NY and traveling around New England, Charming Ceremonies is a wedding officiant organization founded by Owen Conklin. Owen has been helping couples celebrate their wedding for many years. He performs the traditional duties of an officiant and also offers services to write vows and help with other ceremonial details.
Owen began his officiant career after some friends asked him to preside over their ceremony. Following that event, more friends requested his talents, starting the ball rolling on his business. After looking into the industry, he saw a pattern of expensive officiants and desired to break the cycle. Instead, he opted to offer services to couples at reasonable rates, allowing them to enjoy their day no matter what their budget is. After 10 years and hundreds of weddings , he is well-equipped to do the job and is pleased to assist couples finding what they want.
Levon Smallwood joined Charming Ceremonies in 2025 and primarily works with weddings in the Hudson Valley. With wit and charm Levon crafts weddings with heart for couples in need of support.
Couples working with Owen and Levon will have the opportunity to work towards a celebration plan in conjunction with ceremony activities. Schedules and vows can both be workshopped, and advice may be provided if requested. They ensure that each couple receives friendly, pleasant experiences from the first interaction to the last, and they are pleased to make couples top priority the whole way through. Their philosophy is "it’s the couple’s ceremony, so they should celebrate it how they want to without having to break the bank".

Owen has been writing and performing wedding ceremonies for over 10 years. It began when friends asked him to perform ceremonies and he fell in love with helping couples with their weddings.
Owen's experience with a variety of ceremonies makes him unique as an officiant. As an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church, and a minister as a Methodist, he works with each couple to have as much or as little god involved as they want. His creativity is his strength as well, writing ceremonies for castles, baseball fields, highschool sweethearts, to gaming partners among others. The personalization of his weddings shines along with his attention that each couple get what they are looking for from their wedding day.
