Based in Oneonta, NY, Charming Ceremonies is a wedding officiant organization run by Owen Conklin. Owen has been helping couples celebrate their wedding for many years. He performs the traditional duties of an officiant and also offers services to write vows and help with other ceremonial details. Owen began his officiant career after some friends asked him to preside over their ceremony. As a presenter, he was well-equipped to do the job and was pleased to assist. Following that event, more friends requested his talents, starting the ball rolling on his business. After looking into the industry, he saw a pattern of expensive officiants and desired to break the cycle. Instead, he opted to offer services to couples at reasonable rates, allowing them to enjoy their day no matter what their budget is. Couples working with Owen will have the opportunity to work towards a celebration plan in conjunction with ceremony activities. Schedules and vows can both be workshopped, and advice may be provided if requested. Owen ensures that he offers friendly, pleasant experiences from the first interaction to the last, and he is pleased to make couples top priority the whole way through. In his mind, it’s the couple’s ceremony, so they should celebrate it how they want to without having to break the bank.

I started Charming Ceremonies in 2018 after several years of performing wedding ceremonies by request. I am ordained through the Universal Life Church and perform weddings in the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, and Central New York. Outside of this I have a Bachelors degree in Horticulture and a Masters degree in Higher Education Administration. As a professional I’ve presented at schools, conferences, and regularly on my home college campus. I believe in the power of love to bring people together, and strive every day to be a part of that.
