Based in Oneonta, NY and traveling around New England, Charming Ceremonies is a wedding officiant organization founded by Owen Conklin. Owen has been helping couples celebrate their wedding for many years. He performs the traditional duties of an officiant and also offers services to write vows and help with other ceremonial details. They also feature Jocelyn Reynolds, and officiant and educator of many years.
Owen began his officiant career after some friends asked him to preside over their ceremony. Following that event, more friends requested his talents, starting the ball rolling on his business. After looking into the industry, he saw a pattern of expensive officiants and desired to break the cycle. Instead, he opted to offer services to couples at reasonable rates, allowing them to enjoy their day no matter what their budget is. After 10 years and hundreds of weddings , he is well-equipped to do the job and is pleased to assist couples finding what they want.
Jocelyn's path as an educator weaved it's way toward officiating in past 5 years. She found joy in assisting couples find meaning from their ceremonies and connecting with them on a personal level. She joined Charming Ceremonies in 2024 to provide her expertise to couples across central New York.
Couples working with Owen and Jocelyn will have the opportunity to work towards a celebration plan in conjunction with ceremony activities. Schedules and vows can both be workshopped, and advice may be provided if requested. They ensure that each couple receives friendly, pleasant experiences from the first interaction to the last, and they are pleased to make couples top priority the whole way through. Their philosophy is "it’s the couple’s ceremony, so they should celebrate it how they want to without having to break the bank".

My husband and I are so happy that we decided to hire Charming Ceremonies to officiate our wedding! Owen was very easy to work with, was very professional and was great with communication. Our officiant Jocelyn was AMAZING and absolutely captured the vibe and essence we were going for with our ceremony. From the very first introductory call, I knew she was going to be a great fit! She was incredibly easy to work with, so kind, and put together an amazing script of passages and blessings that really catered to who we are as individuals and a couple. We got married in New Hampshire, October 2023, and Owen made the planning process a breeze. Owen met with us multiple times leading up to the wedding to make sure that he fully understood our vision for our big day. He shared a document with all of the information he needed to plan the ceremony, which was also helpful for us because there were questions we hadn't even thought to ask! Day of, Owen was a godsend. I managed to lose my vows while getting ready, and Owen saved the day by printing me a new copy. We also decided to gamble with mother nature and host our ceremony outside, despite the high chance of rain, because we had had our hearts set on that location for years. Owen not only encouraged our decision because he knew how important it was to us, but helped to lighten the mood during the ceremony after we lost our gamble and it started pouring the second the ceremony started. He was a good sport, despite getting soaked, and was even able to project his voice enough that everyone could hear him without a microphone. Owen was an amazing officiant, and I cannot express enough how grateful we were for him. I highly encourage that all couples hire Owen for their big day. He's inclusive, positive, friendly, organized, and fun to work with! Thank you Owen!!

Owen was so great to work with for our ceremony! Communication was easy, and we were able to meet with him multiple times leading up to the big day to check in. Not wanting a religious ceremony, we still wanted something personal, and Owen came up with such a beautiful ceremony for us. He even included a part featuring our cat Olive, who is a huge part of our lives. Owen was so warm and friendly throughout the entire process, it felt very personal from start to finish. I would highly recommend his services to anyone!

My husband and I are SO happy we chose Owen to officiate our wedding. He did a fantastic job from the first meeting all the way to the cocktail hour. He was always available to answer any questions or concerns we had, open to talk about anything we needed, ad really got to know us all before the wedding. He was also very well spoken, kept our guests engaged, and kept us at ease throughout the whole process. He even got the caterers to bring us food and drinks for after the ceremony while we waited to sign our license. He went above and beyond, and we cannot recommend him enough!!

Charming Ceremonies was amazing to work with. He scheduled plenty of meetings to make sure your wedding is actually how you see it. He tells you from Day 1 to make sure you eat and drink on your wedding day. He is so reasonable and easy to work with, he made my wedding day beautiful and I couldn’t have asked for a better officiant for my ceremony!

Owen was out of this world wonderful! He met with us multiple times before the wedding to talk with us about our wants and needs. He wrote out our custom ceremony, and hit the mark first try. He was there early at the ceremony to calm our nerves, and make special moments for us throughout.

Owen was absolutely amazing to work with. Our wedding got postponed due to COVID, however, we wanted to keep our original date. Owen was willing to adjust our original wedding plans to an elopement, while still making it very special for us both. He was a pleasure to work with, and we will recommend him to anyone in need of an officiant. We hope to use him for our wedding celebration once COVID allows us to actually celebrate.
