We had the privilege to work with Clara, Russ, and Alex; all of whom were special in their own ways. They had us cracking up the whole time and made the process really fun.

The Chasing Light team was phenomenal! From start to finish, for our wedding, Russ and Clara were always very responsive and made us feel comfortable through everything. They were great at directing everyone and had a special eye for capturing the best moments. Their professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail are truly special. From the beginning, we really connected with Russ from our first call with him. He made us feel so at ease when planning out our engagement photos and wedding day. We had a cloudy day for our engagement photos, and were really bummed at first. It didn't phase Russ at all, he made us feel like it was the perfect day and his photos really reflected that! On wedding day, his wife Clara did our photography and she was amazing! She went so above and beyond her photographer duties (helping the girls while getting ready, putting on the boys boutonnieres, etc.) and also captured our special day so beautifully. We were so thrilled when we saw the pictures, but then we got our Wedding video and it truly captured our day so perfectly. We really couldn't have imagined a better summary of the day and we have been watching it non stop since we received it :) They are truly such a wonderful couple to work with and made us feel so special! We had the immense pleasure of hiring Chasing Light for our wedding at Galway Downs in Temecula, and I cannot emphasize enough how extraordinary their work was. We couldn't be happier with our decision to use Chasing Light to photograph and video our wedding. Russ is a real artist and a true professional through and through. The moments that he and his team were able to capture are so intimate, special, and downright impressive given that both my husband and I are the two most awkward photograph posers we know. The fact he was able to make us look somewhat respectable is all the proof you need! What we enjoyed most is that Russ truly takes the time to get to know your personality and then suggests photos that compliment you. This certainly shows in the final product. For us, that was shooting somewhere in nature with our dog, and Russ immediately suggested Joshua Tree, a perfect match. We met him for a sunset shoot, and despite having only ever really taken selfies together, Russ made my husband and me feel so comfortable in our skin and encouraged us to be completely ourselves. He climbed up rocks, stopped traffic, and befriended our pup all for the sake of the perfect shot. It is awesome to watch him work. His attention to detail and passion for his craft is what you hope for in someone shooting your big day. Perhaps most importantly, he made it fun and was a joy to be around. Come our wedding day, we felt so comfortable with Russ and knew he'd do an incredible job. Still, he somehow managed to blow our expectations out of the water! He captured so many special moments and details that we'll cherish forever and all the wild, fun ones as well. He didn't skip a beat when our crazy dog went swimming behind our ceremony or when the flower girl ran away. He got it all and his work helped paint the story of our day in a special way that we feel only he could. As we looked over his footage, we found ourselves constantly saying "wow, how did he do that?!" I think that's pretty special to get from your photographer and cameraman. Don't even hesitate, just book them! The best decision we made for our wedding was booking Chasing Light. Our wedding pictures are breathtaking and beautiful. They killed it. The entire process for both our engagement and wedding pictures was fun and exciting. Russ and Clara are two of the most genuine, down to Earth people you will ever meet. They made the entire photography process a dream. They also helped out with so much more than photography. They gave us advice, helped during the planning process, and were even a helping hand on the morning of the wedding. They have the fastest turn around we have ever seen in wedding photography and you receive so many pictures it's amazing. We are not very photogenic people but from the start of the engagement shoot we were able to just be ourselves and enjoy it. Our wedding would not have been the same without Chasing Light. If we could get married again, we would just to have this photography team!

Our wedding was intimate (45 including us) and held both inside and outdoors at the Museum of Contemporary Art. To us, the photography of the day was the most important part… as this is all we will have to look back on for the rest of our lives. After combing through countless reviews and IG profiles, I kept coming back to Chasing Light. Their pictures were refined, clean, creative, and beautiful. Even with a limited budget, I decided to truly invest in this husband/wife team. After speaking with Russ, I immediately felt happy with my decision. He was so professional, yet easy going… and really knew exactly how to schedule the day based on the venue, timing of sunset (which was tricky for us), and weather. When I met Clara on my wedding day, I immediately felt at ease. She was so kind and gentle, yet had real ownership and leadership over the priorities of the day and listening to her direction was easy and fun. My wedding day was a blur, but Clara knew all the right angles, the right moments, the right people, the right backgrounds… and I had no doubt my pictures would turn out amazing… And then we got them. I honestly cannot thank this team enough for truly giving us the most precious part of my wedding. I have heard countless times from my guests and even those who didn’t attend my wedding but saw my pictures, that I had the most beautiful and gorgeous wedding photos. Chasing Light took the time to understand who we were as a couple, they learned the venue and did all of their homework ahead of time, and their raw talent for capturing the most significant and beautiful moments really made my wedding album out of this world. The day went by so fast. Things were a blur, but the images are what last a lifetime. I cannot recommend Chasing Light enough, they are not only really dependable and highly talented people, but they are cool, creative, kind, and extremely thoughtful and responsive as well. Our engagement shoot with Chasing Light was a dream. Russ suggested Palomar Mountain, an area I wasn’t very familiar with. However, Russ knew exactly where to capture the perfect photos, and chase the beautiful sunset we were lucky to have that evening. My now husband and I booked Chasing Light upon finding him on the Knot for both our engagement shoot as well as our wedding. His quality of work was evident from the start by the various galleries and videos viewable on his website as well as photos shown on Instagram, but he truly blew us away with the photos and videos delivered to us and gave us priceless memories we will cherish forever. I even added a Boudoir shoot with his wife, Clara, after seeing how well the engagement shoot photos turned out and was not disappointed. She crushed it and made me feel so confident and comfortable! This is a long review and I apologize but it is hard to summarize how amazing our experience with Chasing Light Photography was from start to finish. As an interracial couple with a diverse wedding party, it was our top priority to find an experienced photographer that could ensure everyone would look their best. Russ and Clara are the talented duo behind the lens and function as a well-oiled machine. Even when we got behind getting ready, they ensured that we got all of the photos we asked for. My husband and I are admittedly not comfortable in front of the camera and the Chasing Light team provided such clear direction that we were able to get better photos of us than I ever thought was possible. When you get married, it can feel so overwhelming because there will always be things that you don’t think of, but the knowledge and experience of this team made our day seamless. Beyond their skills with cameras and lighting, the team was so thoughtful with other aspects of the wedding. From Russ having bobby pins and putting in my veil to Clara having safety pins that helped with a dress malfunction at the reception, they were an integral part of our day. We couldn't be more delighted with the results, and we wholeheartedly recommend these photographers to anyone seeking to have their wedding day beautifully and authentically documented.

Choosing Chasing Light to do our wedding photography was one of the best decisions that we made during our wedding planning process. Russ and team are incredibly skilled and experienced photographers that captured our big day perfectly. They guided us through each shot in a way that made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera which seemed impossible with us being a rather non-photogenic couple. Russ and his team were an absolute dream to work with and all of our photos came out better than I could've ever hoped. I had an AMAZING experience with Chasing light. Russ spent a good hour on the phone with me to answer all of my questions, and explaining how Chasing Light works. Clara ran the show at my wedding (THANK YOU!). She facilitated the post-ceremony photos and made sure to get photos of every combination of families on both sides that we could have wanted, quickly. She made me feel relaxed, comfortable, and confident to take our photos after the ceremony (not my best skill, lol). I couldn't be happier with my experience with Chasing light. Russ and the Chasing Light team were FABULOUS. Number 1: the pictures and videos turned out incredible. I can’t stop looking at them!! I cry every time I watch the video and it so beautifully captured our day. It’s so hard to be in the moment at your own wedding and watching our video really allowed me to solidify those feelings and memories ❤️ The angles and lighting in every picture and video shot show what an amazing team they have! Number 2: They are efficient and effective! Both for our engagement and wedding shoot we unintentionally ended up with a less time than we expected, but Russ got every shot and did it well! I never had to worry or feel like I need to direct. He is a Pro! All in all 10/10 and would book again!

Photos are one of the only tangible things you take from your wedding day and I'm beyond happy with our decision to go with Chasing Light. I cannot even express how much we adored and loved everything about Chasing Light. They were professional, knowledgeable and fun! We were able to do an engagement shoot before our wedding so we got to know the photographer before, which made our wedding day go smoothly. They captured every moment we wanted and didn’t even know we needed, without us feeling overwhelmed. I really feel like they listened and made sure we were comfortable in every moment.

We hired Russ and the team to provide photography and videography for our wedding. For a couple of fairly awkward photograph subjects, Russ was able to direct and guide us into getting some of the best photos we have had together. The team knew the venue and came prepared with potential locations for our first look/couple shots. He even found a way to photograph us at the cliffs at La Jolla Cove on a busy summer afternoon. We also had a BIG family for our family shoots and Russ was able to coordinate us effectively. They were very professional and got all of the shots done in time to keep things flowing according to schedule. The turnaround time for the photos was quick and the photos turned out lovely, matching the overall aesthetic of the venue and our wedding day. Chasing Light was excellent for our wedding on 9/2/23 & we're so glad that we chose them. We worked with Russ, Clara, and their videographer on the wedding day and also had an engagement shoot last year with Clara. We are sooo impressed with how our photos turned out and we received them only 9 days after wedding day-- way sooner than we even expected. They're extremely professional, efficient and organized while being so creative and artistic. In less than 2 hours before the wedding, they were able to wrangle our wedding party quickly for photos as well as get our first look photos and tons of detail shots around the property (Old Rancho in Carlsbad). Post-ceremony, they were super patient with our large group of relatives to get all the family shots we needed. We are blown away with our couple's shots, family photos, ceremony, and reception photos-- all of it! I didn't feel that anything was missed and, if anything, they captured way more moments than we expected. We can't wait to see the way the film & video footage turned out, but have no doubt that it will be of an equally exceptional quality. Highly recommend their services & feel that their work is a really great value, especially considering other photographers I was considering didn't provide film as an option or charged just as much without the video option.

We can't say enough about the absolutely stunning, perfect photos that Russ, Clara, and the Chasing Light team shot for our wedding. After the wedding is over, what is the one thing that continues to bring back memories over and over... photos and the video! I can't say enough about Russ and Clare. They took the time to understand our vision, learn about our personalities, and the unique details we wanted to capture, which resulted in priceless photos and a video we will always treasure. Their ability to connect with us on a personal level-built trust and confidence, allowing us to relax on the day of our wedding. They somehow managed to capture every heartfelt moment and spontaneous laughter. Their eye for detail ensured that no element went unnoticed. From start to finish, their talent, professionalism, and passion for photography was evident, resulting in a collection of photos and our video that exceeded our wildest expectations. And... we had our photos and video within 2-weeks! This is the 2nd time my family has used Chasing Light for a wedding and without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend for anyone seeking an AMAZING and MEMORABLE wedding photography experience.

Love love love my wedding photos and videos! Russ and Clara were amazing at keeping us on track throughout the wedding planning process, directing our awkward selves for engagement photos and wedding photos, and making sure we are on time for wedding events the day of. The wedding video they created for us summarized the day so well from the little actions to the big feelings. I just can’t get over how well the little details were captured and I am appreciative of that. We just feel like we are re-living the day over and over again - just without the hangover. HA! Key things that drew us to them were the style of their photos, the way we felt looking at their past videos, and their competitive pricing. It felt too good to be true; I’m happy to report it is true!

The Chasing Light Team did an amazing job capturing the big and small moments on our wedding day through their photographs and video. They were very professional and flexible and able to work with what we wanted for our engagement shoot and our wedding day. Russ photographed our engagement photos and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera and sent us back beautiful, quality photos, not long after they were taken. Clara and Alex shot our wedding day, and used the venue for all of it's natural beauty. We are in LOVE with all of the posed and candid pictures that were taken. The video highlights the best moments of the day and helps us remember the true feel of the many moments shared together between family and friends. My husband and I got the videography and photography package for our wedding. With that, you get an engagement shoot which turned out amazing. We loved our pictures and knew we had made a good choice for using Chasing Light for our wedding. When the big day finally came, they did a great job capturing our event. We got our pictures back within a week or so and the quality was perfect. An overall great team to work with.

We have nothing but GREAT things to write about Chasinglight. This team allowed us the opportunity to relive our wedding day through stunning photos and videos - they captured every moment so perfectly and more. We loved working with Russ and Clara!! They took great care of us during our wedding day. Russ made sure that we did not miss out on taking photos at our requested location despite the mix up in the schedule and Clara was just so awesome. She made me (bride) feel so beautiful and confident in all of our photos and even helped me when the trail of my dress malfunctioned! Just little things that we will never forget. We also got our engagement and wedding gallery so fast. MOG could not make it to the wedding and for her to see the photos so soon meant so much to us!

I cannot speak MORE highly about what they were able to do for my husband and I to celebrate our engagement and wedding day. They met us in Joshua Tree while we were in town to shoot some breathtaking photos, and worked so well with us. They were able to pre-pick the locations and talk us through all of the photos to ensure the best quality, and that we were comfortable....and the photos speak for themselves! Not only that, but they made our wedding day SO special with their photography and video. They mapped out our whole day for us and really helped guide the planning, which was so helpful! And they are SO easy to work with. Truly down-to-earth people who are not only invested in the work they do and provide, but in your happiness as well. All of the pictures show our day perfectly and they were so in tune with our needs, and what we wanted. And the video. My god. The video is amazing. We had an out-of-town wedding, so the video was really important to us, not only to capture our day, but to also show everyone we couldn't have there and it SURPASSES anything that I could have ever imagined. The quality, time, energy, and love they put into it speaks volumes. EVERYONE is amazed by it and so complimentary of their work. It can be really hard to plan a wedding from out of town, and working with them was a dream. Truly. I have never seen work like theirs done before, and they deserve every recognition and praise I, and everyone else, can give. Working with them will be one of the best decisions you can make because it was definitely the best one we made!!!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Chasing Light TV (Russ) was absolutely incredible to work with on our wedding day. We ended up selecting both photography and videography services which streamlined everything, and made the coordination/organization for the day a breeze. Part of our package also included an engagement session, which was the perfect opportunity to meet Russ before the big day. He was professional, efficient, organized, funny and so fantastic to work with at both the engagement shoot and on the wedding day. Because of this, we were able to capture so many different moments and vignettes, which ultimately led to some of the BEST pictures my husband and I have ever seen (or been in)! Russ is also SO speedy! We got our engagement photos so quickly and our entire wedding gallery way before we even excepted, which was such a nice surprise. I truly have nothing but extremely positive words to say about Russ and the Chasing Light TV team. I would rebook them in a heartbeat and just adored working with them as a vendor for our wedding!!

One of the best decisions we made when wedding panning was booking Chasing Light as our photo/video team! Communication was awesome from the very beginning and super easy to work with. Russ did our engagement shoot about a year out from the wedding and the photos were absolutely stunning. We knew we made the right call and couldn’t wait for the big day. We had never taken professional photos before and Russ made us feel so comfortable and calmed our nerves. Flash forward to a year later and our wedding photos were everything we could have hoped for and more. They were also super fun to work with on our wedding day and made sure everything ran smooth and timely. Extremely efficient while making sure we got all the shots we wanted. I was completely blown away with how quick and structured we got through family formals. My husband and I both come from blended families and they made all the combinations a breeze. We just got our wedding video back as well and I have cried happy tears every time I have watched it. Such a special memory for our day. The editing, music, flow, everything is absolutely perfect. Do yourself a favor and book the photo/video package. You will not regret it. Chasing Light is the absolute best! Chasing light was great to work with. They captured everything we wanted and more. Our pictures and video were amazing. You could tell they really knew there stuff and loved what the do! It shows in there work. We loved having them be a part of our special day. Before I booked them I was on the phone with Russ for over an hour and he just made me feel so confident about them as our photographer and videographer and felt like I was talking to a friend not just a vendor so I immediately booked with them short after. He met us up beforehand to do engagement pictures which also turned out awesome! Not only do they do fantastic work they all have such a good turn around time. People were amazed by how fast we received our photos and video. They dont only do a fantastic job but they also give you your final product in a timely manner so you get to relive the day and enjoy the pictures and video without waiting a million months! Russ’s photos are like magic! He makes everything look more beautiful and glowing! We have received so many compliments on both our engagement and wedding photos. He is truly talented. Chasing Light was one of the first vendors we booked for our wedding, with a package that included an engagement shoot, and photography & videography on our wedding day. The engagement shoot was a great opportunity to meet Russ, and to get a bit more comfortable with having our pictures taken in this way. We’d never had professional pictures taken before but for both the engagement shoot and wedding day, Russ and Clara gave us plenty of direction and we always felt like we were in good hands. They were so knowledgeable and professional, Russ even ended up being the person who put my veil into my hair when my MOH and I were a little unsure of how to do it. We received our wedding pictures just 2 weeks after our wedding, which is an unreal turnaround time. Our video came a few months after, and it was well worth the wait! We absolutely love our pictures and video and have received nothing but rave reviews on them from friends and family. I can’t recommend Chasing Light highly enough; they’ve provided us with the most amazing captures of one of the best days of our lives!

Chasing Light was easily the best decision we made when it came to capturing our special day. Not only did we get stunning engagement photos, but the pictures we got from our wedding day took our breath away. Which we also received in less than two weeks after our wedding! If you're on the fence on whether or not to book video as well.... 100% do it. The time that was put into our video was AMAZING and we are so so happy watching it over and over again. Russ was incredible to work with! He did our engagement photos and our wedding photos and we could not be happier with how they turned out. We had a great experience working with Russ & Clara to do our photos for our wedding. Due to the pandemic we had to reschedule our wedding more than once, Chasing Light was very accommodating and understanding of the situation. We could of not asked for a better photography team to work with. Clara was the main photographer for our wedding and she was super easy to work with. They were very flexible in accommodating to our timeline and were really responsive to our input. They made us feel super comfortable with the shots and we got all the ones we wanted taken. Overall, we would recommend them again for any event or wedding.

Russ is an actual magician. He captures moments you didn’t even realize had happened and can make even a hazy day look mystical and romantic. We hired Chasing Light for wedding photography and Russ gave us so much more than that! Included with our photo package was an engagement shoot which not only produced glorious photos but also served as an ice breaker for us to get comfortable with the camera and the photographer himself. We were immediately comfortable as Russ is so professional, laid back, and helpful. Day of the wedding he displayed his hidden talents by helping me with my veil, fixing my sister’s slipping hair pins, and even bustling my dress! One man managed to be everywhere during the day and capture all the important moments without missing anything. We noticed that he would pop up, snap a shot, disappear, only to pop up somewhere else entirely mere seconds later. His calm and relaxed demeanor kept my husband’s and my nerves at bay and we loved having him at our wedding. And most importantly, the photos! We literally were gasping with joy and amazement when we got our digital photos back. We reviewed all and ended narrowing it down to over 500 that are our absolute favorites. Over 500 images that made our big day look like a vintage movie, a Maxfield Parrish painting, and an Alphonse Mucha print, all rolled into one. As if all that weren’t enough, we got our digital photos back in 2 weeks! Magic.

Hiring Russ & Clara was the BEST decision we could have made! Russ was truly amazing in giving us direction during our engagement shoot prior to the wedding (neither of us are models by any means). This really allowed us to be more comfortable in front of the camera on the day of and it definitely paid off. Not only are the photos STUNNING, but the dynamic between Russ and Clara really made it an enjoyable experience. All of our wedding party thought they were an amazing duo that compliment each other very well and even months later continue to recall how great it was to work with them! Clara was extremely organized and really kept us on schedule throughout the day - something I very much appreciated. The biggest piece of advice we were told by other newlyweds was to spend the extra money on videography - we are so happy that we did. Our video was very much a reflection on who my husband and I are and we are so thankful to have that memory captured. I was referred to Chasing Light by a friend who had recently gotten married and I'm so glad she introduced us! We planned a more intimate and casual wedding experience. I was surprised to receive our full wedding photo package only 2 week following our event! My husband and I primarily interacted with Russell for the engagement photoshoot + wedding photography & videography. His work ethic and dedication to the wedding couples really shows for itself. For the engagement photoshoot, Russell went ahead of time at Joshua Tree to look up good photo locations. He had been there before, but he wanted to see where the best lighting would be at certain times. My husband and I are pretty awkward with photoshoots, but he helped us along and gave us directions. Just a caveat to the future couples out there - all wedding photos are posed, but the trick is to make them look candid. Russell did an awesome job at making us look like naturals. For our wedding, we got the photo and video package. The wedding photos were absolutely beautiful and every time I see them they shock me. To this day I have a hard time believing that my husband and I looked that great, because the photos turned out so well. What I love most about the photos and especially the video is that he highlighted the parts that I thought really defined us as a couple. The wedding day went by so fast that I was only left with blips of good memories, but seeing the photos and video helped me remember the other memories that had been forgotten or lost in the hustle of the day. I would say that one of the most important things to get for the wedding are a good photographer and videographer. Because a wedding ceremony is only for a day, but the photos and video forever help you remember how the journey all started and how far the relationship has come. Where do I get started?! Russ and Clara are seriously amazing to work with and we are beyond please with our photos and wedding video. My husband and I balled our eyes out when we first watched it and the photos were absolutely gorgeous. There were parts of the wedding I never knew were captured and I’m forever grateful for them. I had request that they made sure were met and on top of all that, I really appreciated that they included our two year as much as possible in our video/photos. It meant to world to us and we would definitely recommend them to anyone planning a wedding. Chasing Light TV was more than we can ever imagined in a wedding photographer and videographer. We also had them do our engagement photos which is a must if booking wedding photographers/videographers. Russ was super professional and very well organized. He called us prior to our engagement shoot asking us what we were thinking or if we had a style in mind. He was great about offering us style ideas and places he recommends for the look we were going for. When we picked a spot and met with him for the engagement shoot he was so easy and great to work with. He made both of us feel comfortable and care free during shooting which made a huge difference in the outcome of the photos. And let me just say the photos are BEAUTIFUL. Fast forward to our wedding week, Chasing Light provided us with a detailed timeline of shots to take on the wedding day where to be and how long it would take. This was a perfect timeline to share with my wedding coordinator, florist, wedding party, etc. it made day of stress free! We received our wedding photos about a week after our wedding and I’m not exaggerating when I say we were all in awe with how beautiful they were. Chasing Light has a gift of capturing the most intimate moments in such a beautiful way you just want to share them with everyone! And those are JUST the photos. When we received the video my husband and I cried all over again. They managed to wonderfully display all the moments of our wedding day so perfectly.
