Our History
As a third generation tailor, Cheryl began sewing at the young age of 12 under the tutelage of her grandfather, the late J.C. Lofton. Mr. J.C. Lofton was the first African American to have a tailoring school in conjunction with a thriving business in downtown Washington DC. His reputation endures as the standard by which Cheryl A. Lofton & Associates service their clients to this day: Quality, Integerity, and Community.

Cheryl, Ali, and Amber were incredible. I had a very specific vision for my wedding dress and Ali made all my dreams come true! He crafted swarovski crystal straps for my gown from scratch and worked with me through many fittings to make everything perfect. I am eternally grateful for how amazing the entire Cheryl Lofton salon was to work with and I highly recommend them. They are incredibly skilled, friendly, and accommodating.
I bought a sample dress that was a full size too big with a big ugly shawl collar. Joyce at Cheryl Lofton's shop altered it so it looked and felt amazing.
Only drawbacks: it was NOT CHEAP. And it wasn't ready when promised. It was promised 4-5 weeks before my wedding, so this was no big deal. They ended up delivering it to my house so I wouldn't have to go back into the shop to pick it up. Overall, I highly recommend this tailor!
